    Polish here, can explain the reference in 5:28. "Parówkowi skrytożercy" is a term that means someone who secretly snacks on sausages. This is a reference to old Polish movie called "Miś". There was a scene where someone stole sausages that were supposed to be a prop in movie they were making. Movie crew got very mad and then one of them said the iconic: "Parówkowym skrytożercom mówimy NIE!" (we say NO to sausage eaters).
    Bonus context: Some of you can wonder why they were so mad about bunch of sausages. Well, back in times when the movie was released (1980) Poland was controlled by commies and products like meat were very hard to get, shop shelves were often empty
    Hopefully I didn't bore you with my nerd talk 🤓

    8:17 Pole here! The 57 was likely changed to 52 for the sentence to be easier to say. In polish it already had more syllables than in english (eng being 8 and pl being 12), so the voice actor had to speak faster in order to fit in with Caine's lip sync. If he had to do that while saying "pięćdziesiąt siedem" he would have a whole syllable more (which makes a hige difference sometimes). Also, the word "pięćdziesiąt siedem" is a very rustling one, so to say that fast can be a tongue twister and/or be hard to understand. Caine is a character, that talks loudly and clearly, so to have him say that so fast would also be out of character
    Polish is a hard one

    Some other fun things in polish dub and captions, is that when gummigo dies, or rather comes into nonexistence, the captions say "zmienia się w twoje pieniądze z komunii" which means " changes into your money from the communion" which is a refference to a meme in poland, that when we get our money from the communion, it's most likely taken by our parents and never seen again.VVe kind of joke around that they just dissapear, so it was a nice touch up :D. Also, in the scene where jax threathens gangle that he'll tell ragatha about the figurine thing, there's no mention in the dub, but there is mention that Jax " do it or i'll bind and untangle you like a serpentine" which is honestly kinda brutal if you think about it. Also, to answer your question, " skryci parówkożercy" means "secret sausageeaters" is a refference to another joke in poland, that all of us like to eat sausages, though they may seem unhealthty, and even if we say we don't, we all secretly do so it's a pretty fun thing! the last on e is that when poni thorws up, gummigoo says " trzeba se było wziąć lokomotiv-" which means "ya should've eaten lokomotiv-". Lokomotiv is a brand of medicines that are used to reduce locomotion and motion sickness, so that's also fun :D

    • @DraconasTenZHG
      @DraconasTenZHG 7 месяцев назад +66

      I will from now on watch everything with captions on. The communion money joke by far is the funniest, even next to the actual voice lines. Also the joke about Lokomotiv is even more funny because Gummigoo abbreviates "trzeba se" into "trza se". For English readers, it's read like "tsha" and it's the same as turning "should have" into "shoulda" which I think sounds more cowboyish so it makes sense for him to use that abbreviation.

    As an Indonesian, I want to let you know that the Indonesian and English dubs are quite different. for example, when Jax is angry/disappointed because of a boring adventure, in the English dub, he says "let's bring this dumb truck to the dumb kingdom I guess!" while in the Indonesian dub, he says "Bawa truk Tolol ini ke kerajaan Tolol secepatnya". the thing I want to talk about is: "Tolol" is actually a harsh word but the weird thing is it wasn't censored, and secondly, if you translate it, maybe the word Tolol doesn't turn into a harsh word, but believe me, Tolol is really a harsh words in Indonesia, and if you translate, it means: "let's bring this Fucking truck to the Fucking kingdom quickly!" which is actually different than the original dub. OK, that's it, thanks for reading, and I suggest discussing this in a video later. And you can tell me/us if there's something wrong.

I learned that the French term for an NPC is a PNJ but that's probably not as interesting as the time I found out that the French term for Tank Controls is Car Controls.

      For the part of "addressing god", it's probably true that NPC's say "oh, god" stuff, referring to Caine. But for the main staff, it would probably be addressed to the actual God. And for the usage of "god" itself as a word, it's another part of our slang, if you can say so.

    I always find it so interesting how different countries adapt a given script of each episode, and it's a shame not many people seem to cover this topic or care that much, so thanks for talking about it!
    Now, I can't talk much about other languages, but in portuguese, "the Fudge" was adapted to "o Caramelo" (the Caramel). Another interesting thing I noticed about the swearing in portuguese was that in the first ep, it didn't feel like it was fully commited by the VAs, meaning that they just said the words in between the swear words but not the swear words themselves. That changes on the second ep, when you can almost hear and make out what the swear words were at the end of each sentence. The name of the adventure was also changed. Instead of "Candy Carrier Chaos" it's now "Desespero do Desfiladeiro Doce" (Despair of the Candy Canyon). I don't know why they felt the need to adapt that one. Maybe to have every word starting with a "D". The "Augustus Gloop's fate" reference was changed to Jax saying "Do I look like the Easter Bunny to enjoy chocolate?" (Eu tenho cara de coelho da Páscoa pra gostar de chocolate?) because, yeah, portuguese native speakers would have an easier time understanding who the easter bunny is over remembering who Augustus Gloop was. When the gang comes back to the circus, instead of "hard-shelled hamburgers", which would make no sense in portuguese, Caine says that the characters are "stronger than steak with nerves" (mais fortes que bife com nervo). Another interesting bit is when Jax is leaving the candy kingdom and instead of saying "Well, love to help you again some time, bye!", he instead makes a reference to Looney Tunes by saying "Por hoje é só pessoal! Tchau!" (That's all, folks! Bye!).

    This always happens and will happen for three reasons: 1. Because depending on the country and the language, there are jokes/sentences that would not be understood if translated literally. 2. To prevent offended people from being offended by certain things. 3.- it depends on the country and the censorship they have.
