Born in 84 I was HEAVILY into this scene from 2003-2010..Underoath is the band that absolutely leveled this genre up and set the bar. They still are touring arenas to this day and have a new album coming out in January. Check out their albums They’re Only Chasing Safety and Define The Great Line. DTGL was a MASTERPEICE that redefined what it was to be emo/screamo/post hardcore. Really a solid band of musicians and creators.
A boy brushed red living in black and white by underoath is definitely a more emo feel. But I'd recommend story of the year "until the day I die" for true emo.
All those bands called emo in the early 2000s aren’t real emo it was a marketing gimmick by record companies. They where pop punk, post hardcore, or metalcore bands.
@@Frankishsaxon89 i dont think it was marketing companies that did that. Its that the early post hardcore stuff grew out of the emo scene. Alot the bands would be described as both emo and post hardcore. And the post hardcore scene and metalcore is closely connected. So alot of emo kids listened to these bands too, hand the same fasion, etc. So it all just became "emo", mostly by outsiders.
@@KevinUchihaOG yeah but the emo scene kids didn’t listen to any actual real emo bands. Emotive hardcore literally came from the DC hardcore punk scene in the 80s. The emo fashion of the early 2000s and music was completely different. It got thrown in pop punk bands, post hardcore bands, metal core and so on.
Still one of my favorite songs ever. Underoath's They're only chasing safety and Define the great line are absolute master pieces. If anyone says different, thats not their opinion. They are wrong.
I went to a concert about 5 years ago in Royal Oak MI and they played both of those albums from front to back. No opening band - just Underoath for about 2 hours. It was the greatest shit ive ever seen
They the bud) said they don’t think they have ever had a live show where they didn’t play song. That it would basically cause a riot they didn’t play it haha.
This song gives me goosebumps & teary eyed every goddamn time 🥲 screaming in the car, drumming on the steering wheel, headbanging until bruised black and blue 😅
3:30 Listening back with a more musically developed ear than at 16, he surprises me sometimes with his screams. It's not consistent but he definitely hits some crazy Randy Blythe-quality screams
Yes!! Anything from their album "Plagues" and "With Roots Above and Branches Below" are amazing lyrically and instrumentally. Definitely a rabbit hole to discover if one has not! 💯
@@jctheii meh, mikes scream started to sound like a little kid whining in a store, and they stopped with the sick breakdowns and went to the generic fast open note chug breakdowns on the few unmemorable ones.
as an underoath fan you need to check out "Breathing in a new mentality". its probably their heaviest most pissed off song. Underoath dont get credit for how good their heavy songs were.
Underoath define the great line was the first heavy album I brought. The lush yet chaotic sounds were in the beginning so harsh yet the more I listen to it it became melodic and finally I understood the whole album's vibe and it's beauty. Till this day it's such a cool atmospheric album that fuses allot of genres.
If you haven’t heard these bands yet, they are not Emo but some of my faves. August Burns Red, Norma Jean, The chariot, he is legend. Also check out the Underoath album- Define the great line. You won’t regret it.
Moving for the Sake of Motion is up there with this one as my favorite UO track. I think I heard it on a Warped Tour CD back in the day and then went to a Warped Tour in Indy to see them. They didn’t show up lol.
When The Sun Sleeps - Underoath this is one of my favorite underoath songs. the singer is another guy, who use a different vocal technique. i d raccomend you to listen it
thats definitely one of the best mall screamo/post hardcore songs i know, if you wanna listen to some skramz/emoviolence (origins of emo) I would recommend "Foxtails - Every Window In Alcatraz Has A View of San Francisco", "William Bonney - See Ya Later" or "The Saddest Landscape - The Sixth Golden Ticket" (my personal favorites of this great genre) btw great video, I really like your reactions!
You should check these out, I really think you'll enjoy them, and they will be a good reaction. Infant Annihilator - Unholy Gravebirth or Blasphemian Paleface - Curse Us Hunt the Dinosaur - Destructo & only cover Methwitch - Burn Victim Black Tongue - Parting Soliloquy Orbit Culture - I, The Wolf Amon Amarth - As Loke Falls Tallah - Overconfidence
This guys never disappoint, saw them in Madrid years ago and they were straight fire 🔥 Hope you review the new single of Bonecarver, "EVIL". It's gory AF, pure slasher deathcore. Can't wait to see how you react to it! 🤘🏻

An Emo classic.
This
Niki Fm is a classic by them too
Yes! Hawthorne Heights takes me back to high school. From First to Last was another super Emo band that nobody really acknowledges.
@@insanelynerdy649 FFTL was my childhood bro haha. Saw them twice super young! Once in 05 and once in 06! Still play their shit💯

Lost In The Sound too! Man...they definitely need to return to that!

ayy just wrote a comment about FFTL lmao!
Skrilly
This song gives me goosebumps & teary eyed every goddamn time 🥲 screaming in the car, drumming on the steering wheel, headbanging until bruised black and blue 😅
If you're not doing all that to old Underoath, you're doing it wrong! 😆
3:30 Listening back with a more musically developed ear than at 16, he surprises me sometimes with his screams. It's not consistent but he definitely hits some crazy Randy Blythe-quality screams
I love hearing positive comments about old screams ❤️
The Used- Take it Away, Box Full of Sharp Objects,
The Bird and the Worm
Aiden- The Last Sunrise, We Sleep Forever
Spencer the lead vocalist actually learned how to scream from a vocal coach named Melissa Cross, she teaches metal bands how to scream
Man, this was a monster song back in the day! Check out The Feel Good Drag by Anberlin
Such a good band. I used to get their CDs from my sister who worked at a Christian bookstore.
That’s fucking cool 😭
Yes sir!! Favorite band of all time🧡 2006....this song was my introduction to UØ. Changed my life
The Used - "Box full of sharp Objects" is a must!!!
Thrice - Blood clots and black holes.
Protest the hero - blindfolds aside
Spencer's screams are one of the few that have stood the test of time.
Alexisonfire - This Could Be Anywhere in the World
A top song tbh. I keep coming back to that album over and over again
A FUCKING CLASSIC
Oooo The Devil Wears Prada. Songs: Hey John What’s Your Name Again?, This Song Is Called. 🙂
Yes!! Anything from their album "Plagues" and "With Roots Above and Branches Below" are amazing lyrically and instrumentally. Definitely a rabbit hole to discover if one has not! 💯
Dogs Can Grow Beards All Over and that whole album, Dear Love, is so so much better imo
Their first album, dear love a beautiful discord, and the patterns of a horizon EP before it are their best works. After plagues they just became shit

Underoath - In Division is one some ppl have forgotten about is pretty good old song.
I mean underoath has been making music since i believe 1997 so they've been able to make their sound go all over the place yet still sound amazing
Drop Dead Gorgeous: Dressed For Friends Requests
August Burns Red - Ghosts or Empire
I’d love to see a reaction to Ghosts.
you gotta do some atreyu!!!! the crimson!!
The Theft would be a good one to.
@@devonbugutsky6751 agreed 100% if anything that may be a better choice
Maybe if they're emo, but they are actually metalcore whp released music on screamo wave.

Next Emo Monday: Alesana - Ambrosia. One of the most underrated Emo or even Screamo bands ever.
Alesana is fucking awesome!!!
That breakdown and outro is the best
Their older stuff Is much heavier. Everyone looks so good from here is a banger
Emery!!

Underoath - reinventing your exit. That gets you more emo lol
Saosin - They perched on there stilts pointing and daring me to break custom
next emo monday: Protest the hero - Blindfolds aside

Check out "I Thought Id Be Dead By Now" by the band Us From Outside!
For Emo I'd always recommend AFI. Songs like Miss Murder and The Leaving Song pt 2 are peak emo goodness
Yeah but more alt rock emo then post hard-core and hard-core continuation emo. It was the more mainstream side of things. And had bare goth influence.
Movements - Colorblind
My Chemical Romance - Thank You for the Venom
