    You know your stuff. I have a 2007 Murano and had 2 of these issues. The seat and tailgate. I was lucky that the seat one day slid back on the track itself one day. My car only has 86k miles but it burns oil in the engine. Its a very slow leak because the oil does not go down when I check it and no temp gauges or oil gauges come on. But you can smell the oil burning sometimes really bad. I am sort of used to it by now but every once in a while a little smoke comes out of the engine but no engine lights come on and all fluids or normal. Only keeping it for another year or less though. The biggest issue on these vehicles which should have been a recall is the power steering leak that many/most of these had.

    • @danielebrparish4271
      @danielebrparish4271 3 года назад +3

      The oil is probably because the valve cover gaskets need to be changed. It is a very easy fix and not very expensive. Breathing those oil fumes is not good for your lungs or for the environment and could cause an engine fire after it builds up on your engine. Get that fixed ASAP.

    The Japanese engines (in the 350 & Murano) did not suffer from faulty upper tensioner wear as did the North American built engine (in Maxima, Frontier, Pathfinders, Xterra, and Altima V6). There are no Bulletins that I know of for Murano and I've never experienced the whining issue related with worn tensioner shoes on a Murano.

    2005 Murano SL personal experience: The tailgate. I had to cut out several holes after taking the rear bumper off to get some 14mm nuts because there is nothing for those bolts to grab on to. It’s a stupid design.
    Engine oil line where the rubber hose connects with a metal line is corroded and leaking as well as both camshaft position sensor o rings.
    The engine cradle frame is rusted out.
    A/C doesn’t work
    I had to replace the Bose CD player
    The gauge cluster squeaks when going over bumps.
    Oh, and the muffler is completely broken off the tail pipe assembly and there are exhaust leak holes around the catalytic areas.
    (Grey family owned 2005 Murano: 148,000+KM
    Silver Nissan Murano I’ve also seen: 235,000KM)
    I even seen another Murano (silver) with double the mileage and the engine and exhaust were completely shot and plugged up.

    have an 06 one with 206K miles. It has being a good car, very comfy ride, but oil consumption is killing me. Currently burns/leaks 1 and1/4 courts every 1000 miles. Hungry monster. Main issues on this is the valve cover gaskets leak badly, i replaced them once but the issue still persist, this oil i am suspecting actually for killing my alternator too. I replaced the alternator 3 times for 3 years which is a *** to pull out because the radiator and the battery support needs to get out first. I am not feeling spending money on the valve covers because has bunch of other leaks all over so I am thinking about getting that engine out and putting another one in. They are dirt cheap since they put the VQ35DE in millions of cars, i can get one delivered half the miles of mine for 7-800 bucks

    • @rollotomassi6232
      @rollotomassi6232 3 года назад +2

    Thanks for this kick ass, easy to understand, video! Appreciate the sound effects. I am currently having issues in my 2006 Murano AWD that match the symptoms of a corroded throttle body. Its my only car so I have been working on it myself. Its technically drive-able at low speeds and on relatively flat roads. I live in the mountains where my daily commute has a 3000 ft elevation change. So when i travel up steep hills , she bogs down, RPM rev crazy high, mph drops very low and barely makes it to the top of the grade, and overheats. The Car was cheap, and times are tough, so Im a DIY Auto mechanic. Thanks to youtube.
    Anyway great video. Keep up the good work.

    Well I own 2005 model, My problems as listed,
    1. Loose tailgate, replaced the motor on it, but the hook is eaten out and unmovable for some reason
    2. Burns oil like a mf it goes to 1L = 1000 KM
    3. Heater problems, and its pretty hard to find a radiator for the coupe to fit in
    4. Bad Clima compressor seals
    5. Belt noises when i start the car
    Other problems I got are related mostly to mods that have been done by previous owner.
    CVT as far as I know it has some issues, but I think mine was replaced or serviced. You can check cars for parts in your region of the same model, most of them will have failed transmission.
    Car is good for big journeys and a lot of travel, has a lot of space in the backseat and in the trunk, has a really good ground clearance , on the other side has a big gas comsumption if not on LPG, taking sharp corners it feels very unstable, burns a lot of oil (which is unserviceable as far as I know, tried a lot of oil adds for this problem, all seals are changed and no leaks found) , good tyres are really expensive as well.
    Overall it was really a good car when it came out feels comfortable and luxurious for its time, but now its starts to feel like a piece of junk that its hard to service not because of money cost but the time it needs to spend with car mechanic , which is half of the time I drive it.

    I have one of these (a 2006). I have had the seat track failure, but none of the others.
    Other common ones I think are left out here:
    - CVT failure (has not happened to me, thankfully)
    - Fuel sending unit failure (gas gauge quits working, have to pull the fuel pump/sender unit
    out of the gas tank from inside the car... very difficult job to do at home)
    Except for the CVT, all of these problems are reasonable fixes for what is now about a 15-year-old car.
    If the car is solid otherwise, you are way ahead keeping it on the road. HOWEVER... a CVT failure is about a $4000 job these days, and probably sends the car to the junk yard.

    At the end of your video, "Top 5 Problems...", you state to use the comments section for other issues, question or concerns. My concern is with my 2006 Nissan Murano. It has recently left me stranded on an extremely hot day. (Extreme heat may or may not be relevant).
    I began driving when, without any warning of any kind, my Murano stopped accelerating coasting to a stop. Engine was still running smooth, but would not move forward or in reverse. Check engine light did not come on, nor were there any other warning lights on of any kind. Nothing indicating there was a problem. I had just left my house and had only driven a block when this happened. I put it in park & raised the hood to check the transmission fluid while it was still running.

    • @rollotomassi6232
      @rollotomassi6232 3 года назад +1

      154K, you need to spend some money and fix it. Check engine lights are only for emission related issues, not oil leaks. If the rattling noise is the convertor it's already to late as the broken catalyst will turn to a grit and enter the engine resulting in oil consumption, though a ck eng light would have surely come on if that were the case

    • @Angolano84
      @Angolano84 3 года назад

      rattling (crackling?) can be the exhaust heat shields cracking, very common issue on Nissan V-6's over 100K. It's normal for any CVT transmission to maintain a constant RPM under acceleration. Have a mechanic check for an oil leak (valve covers) causing smoking.

    Hi...I have a 2006 Murano that i recently took in because it has a burn smell when i park it. Originally i took it to the dealer because when I drive it in the morning at first start it feels like it's going to stall. After I use it it drives fine. The car has 116k miles on it. No oil on the floor. I was told it has a torque converter seal leak, oil pan and gasket leaking and possibly power steering rack leak. I know it's an old car but i can't afford a car payment right now. Can the car be driven with these issues as long as the fluids are checked? Any advice is appreciated... thank you.

      @@rubychavez1325 Check the air intake duct from filter to throttle body. The rubber ducts get very hard and will disconnect. This issue usually happens after an air filter replacement causing the duct to pull off because it is not flexible. Issue is more noticeable upon acceleration as the engine rocks back causing the gap to expand.

    Anyway as I was saying check the transmission fluid the oil did not smell burnt it was didn't indicate it needed any. The fluid is light in color not real dark. I then looked around to see if maybe a belt broke, but I believe that would have made it shut down. or then I ended up turning it off tried to start I started it again

Also, throughout a days driving, turning the corner to get home, I lose acceleration and the car idles as if the car is in park yet it will accelerate as if you take your foot off the brake to roll into acceleration. Do you have any suggestions about how to correct the imperfections?

    I have a 2004 Nissan Murano. After driving it for about 20 to 30 minutes I have a issue. When I am stopped at a red light, then the light turns green, I step on the gas to go but for about 3 to 5 seconds the engine does not go. The RPMs don't move either. Just nothing. Then it takes off like the gas is rushing the the engine. What can my problem be?

    06 Nissan Murano SE 60,000 miles just developed a vibration when AC is on seems as if rpm’s are raising the higher the fan is on but not 100% sure of that. Does this sound like an ac problem or possibly something as simple as old belts? Thanks in advance. Brian

    Whats up with this?

  • @boots7859
    @boots7859 3 года назад +3

    Len, I think you're misleading people a bit on the throttle body.
    My understanding is that most people who aren't jamming the heck out of the butterfly valve can do a simple throttle relearn process on it, which they also need to do on a new tb assembly. www.nissanhelp.com/diy/murano/projects/nissan_murano_idle_air_volume_learning.php
    Prob a good idea to take a pic with your phone before starting, or measure the distance the top of the butterfly valve is from the side. Clean, slightly move the bf valve, clean some more, move it back into position. Still have to relearn most likely, however should be close.
    Aside the transmission which Nissan replaced at 116K under extended warranty, the only other problem has been cam position sensors, which are a cheap and easy fix, and it likes going through front rotors. Also burning close to 1L oil every 1200-1300 miles at 156K miles now.
    Just had the drivers window die on me, but if it doesn't have any other major failures I am liking the no car payments for the past 10 years and will drive it into the dirt.
    Will NOT be buying a Nissan again. At this point, not sure if Nissan is as bad/good as Mitsubishi.

    • @danielebrparish4271
      @danielebrparish4271 3 года назад

      Might be a bad strut or shock. Find a speed bump and drive over it slowly a few times. If it bounces more than once then it probably needs a set of struts. Any shop can replace those and it doesn't take very long or cost very much.

    Just curious if catalytic converter issues could cause fuel deficiency. I have noticed that I'm not getting the same mpgs that I used to on my '03 murano and it keeps throwing a catalytic converter code every other week. I tried the bottle of catalytic converter cleaner and the code went away for a bit and came back. If that's not the issue do you know what could cause fuel deficiency?

    • @rollotomassi6232
      @rollotomassi6232 3 года назад

      Sounds like a wheel sensor issue, does it happen on turns or going straight? I had an Altima with a faulty bearing sensor ring, a tooth missing, causing this issue. Was only able the find it using an oscilloscope and rotating the wheel by hand while watching the squire wave pattern, sure enough it skipped one tooth, wasn't enough to set a code, but would active the anti-lock & traction/dynamic control system as that wheel was determined to be rotating slower.

    Do you think is worth replacing and buying a new transmission on a 2005 Nissan Murano with 150K miles? My transmission died and replacing it with a new one will cost close to $5,000. I really love my Murano, but I think is too much of a risk fixing an old car, and I can use that money for a down payment on a new, or barely used car.
