SOMEBODY CALL A DOCTOR! | A grumpy British man raps about the Tories killing the NHS.

  • One of the best things about the UK is our National Health Service (NHS). And sadly it's being destroyed, mainly by many successive years of Tory government, who are happy to see the NHS being chopped to bits and privatised.

@@danbull I respect you as a productive artist and youtuber, I also understand your personal political leaning is left wing, I understand and you have full right to say on your perspective. So I'll leave my brief thoughts on what I think on the socialise healthcare.
I don't see the NHS being good because of the conservatives, it's simply scapegoat excuse, I see The NHS being bad by design itself. The NHS is and always be a socialist project, and anything by socialist is not good. The only reason why NHS made popular is simply down to government controlled media and education that push it constantly, even then The NHS was only good for small uses, low population and simple medical care, yet when patient is wanting treatment more then others, The NHS can't keep up. Becuse The NHS is (and no sugar coating it) always be a socialist program, resources must be rationed to avoid running out, as well on people, the NHS will deside who gets treated first and who will get last, removing agency from the individual who is a patient and made to be in wait, in suffering or not.
I had stories of people I've passed by, a man with a Injured leg at gym tolled to wait 12 hours for the ambulance, a man who Injured his head unconscious outside a Turkish barbershop, told he had to wait 4 hours for ambulance, as well my close friend who suffered from asthma and couldn't get new inhaler in time, without going going through red tape bureaucracy for subscription. Not to mention my face was swollen up and I could barely see, expecting I could go blind, went to a dropped in and at best given permission to get cream from a private pharmacy from Tesco. So you tell I find quite bitterness and dislike to the NHS.
As for my solution, instead of nearly £200 billion a year of the taxpayers money to the hospital, one where you shouldn't fired people to buy for other people's health, I proposed a different means to Prioritize the nhs, course right now you will see me as a heretic and see Capitalism is bad, witch I understand, to think selfishly is evil to many full altruist, yet no one is a full altruist as that's leads to self-sacrifice, and I'm definitely a egoist. I for one, perfer people pay for themselves for treatment, the right to healthcare, not by obligation and government control.
So Dan, if you disagree with me, that's understandable in what you see, as I asked for more privatisation, so more freedom to individual can pay for what one wants by choice, in a competitive free market. So you may want The NHS get better, be controlled by a different party to fix it, so I'll leave a question to yourself. If the conservatives aren't improving the nhs and want it secretly privatise, and you want a different party, what would that party be and why would you choose it?

You could make an entire album on tory screw ups in this year alone
I really wonder how Boris, Truss and all that have all this money to put into personal trips, 36 nukes and their rich mates, yet somehow can't afford to provide care for the poor, freezing and unwell, or properly pay the people who keep our daily lives functioning
It feels like we're watching musical chairs but the chairs are our lives
Like Ren said in Money Game, "Oh what a shame it would be I would die,-"
(If I typed out the rest, no guarantee I'd survive)

@@undeadwerewolves9463 It is not like it isn't better in many ways, but Covid has surfaced a lot of issues, that have existed for some time.
Some politicians about 10 years ago decided, that hospitals have to be "profitable" as opposed to before... and now people quit their jobs because of pay issues, long hours. But it is not the same level, that we see in the UK.

We're having similar trouble over here in Canada. The government always has money to fund new developments and bring frivolous cases to court, but somehow we always need to tighten our purse strings and do more with less when it comes to health care and education. It's currently impossible to get a family doctor where I live - a must for treating any ongoing condition or even getting your test results back. There's literally a waiting line. In education, teachers are getting paid less than a daycare worker while having to take care of 30+ kids at a time, all with a budget of less than a dollar per student for any in-class materials. A gym class can't even afford to buy new balls when the old ones wear out.
Education and health care are such easy targets for politicians. Their benefits take years to come to fruition - long after a politician's career has ended. So when they gut the budget, it's the next generation that suffers for it. Parents complain their kids aren't learning anything useful in school, but refuse to pay more so that teachers can teach them more. People complain that wait times are long and doctors are in a rush, and will claim that they'd rather pay more privately for better care, but aren't willing to pay that money publicly for better care.
It's not like the US is any better. Their private health care and private education has similar wait times and outcomes as those in Canada, but they pay a small fortune for those. At least with national health care, the government has considerable bargaining power to keep insurance and pharma companies in check, but as individuals, there's the ultimate power gap - pay the price or die. And when it comes to education, the only value of paying more for an Ivy League school is that people who came from Ivy League schools want to hire people from Ivy League schools. It's the upper class lifting up the upper class. The worst part is, there's such strong propaganda at so many levels that middle and lower class folks thinks this is the best system for them and that public institutions are more expensive and wasteful. Little do they realize just how much more they spend while getting the same, shitty services.

My experience with the NHS is not good mainly from the receptionists. I crashed my bike and broke my hip and was bleeding. I had a friend take me to hospital limped to the receptionist with blood coming out of my leg/hip and she didn't even look up after I gave her the details... I was told to sit down and wait for a nurse to see me. I sat down and waited 2 hours resulting in a pool of blood in my seat. Once the nurse called me over I got up and she said why didn't I tell the receptionist I was bleeding and I said "I did and she didn't give a rats arse". Then after the wound was covered I had to wait 14 hours for a bed... turns out if your an alcoholic/drug user you get priority bed privileges. Had 2 smackheads opposite me constantly asking to leave yet the nurses were telling them they can.. but they just CBA leaving at the same time dkheads

For comparison, membership within the EU saved the UK around £2,400 million in preferential trade taxation.

Yes, because labour would be any better. Are you even old enough to remember the last Labour Govt? They made many of the problems we have today in the NHS. It's very existence shouldn't have never been "justified" (as you put it) as it just doesn't work for a 50 million (back then) population. The whole structure should be individual based and this is what the old Tory backbenches were saying in the 50s. But no one listened and now you have what you have because of countless governments failing to address the structure and the structure of funding. Blair did the worst though, please look it up Dan, you are an intelligent person but this song is all what you read on "google" and personal experiences than history and facts. Blair made the management bubble, blair made the locum vacuum (whereby some locums earn up to 600k per annum) etc. Not saying since David have they not added to the problem and not done what was promised. But going for "point scoring" here is just such an immature way of looking at this.

Not often does a song state it so well, even in the US this is exactly what is happening and with the Obama part showed it off. The issue with systems isn't they aren't there or not enough funding, it's that the people put into positions don't do anything to help those below or state one thing and well never try or just play the game of smoke and mirrors.

I was in tears one day after being told the previous to call and i'll for sure get the results only to be told the same stuff as before. it's genuinely awful trying to get through to a point I just leave it till the problem is too bad for me to bear vs catching it early

Greens are loonies who will ruin the economy to achieve nothing for the planet because the UK is comparatively fine compared to China and USA.
Boris Johnson put more money into the NHS in his short tenure than Tony Blair did in his massive tenure...
The NHS is the most over funded bloated mediocre service in the world, it fundamentally doesn't work because it has no competitors, the staff get paid whether patients live, die or get treated at all, hence why patient care and wait times are appalling.
And now they want 20% more money for doing less every year, yet if they get that pay rise it'll be the equivalent of being able to employ 16,000 fewer nurses next year...
Sure the government has bad polices about the NHS. Not getting rid of it permanently and replacing it with a functional private healthcare system like Australia has (and like the UK used to) but obviously not like the American system.
