It's pithy in so many ways, like thinking of the ship the way he thinks of Manchester, the idea that rough areas are a direct result of sheer size within the period of a voyage, and most of all, I can't QUITE find words to tell him how he's wrong, so I'm just left sort of reeling at the remark.
I'm using me fables. this has to be one of the best episodes of the whole 4 series.

@@samaspic7846 while I agree with you that he does repeat and explain jokes, but in that instance I think it was a separate pun, as in; he can reach a higher shelf, and also meaning he can reach a higher level (management)

The very first time I heard "cat food" I absolutely broke. I wept. Even now, the pause before he says it and the anticipation of knowing it's coming still gets me.
It’s amazing. I can see why some people thought Karl was a character, but at the same time as Steve & Ricky always said how on earth could they have conjured him up?

All his stories are like this. He could be right and sometimes is but he gets details wrong and explains stuff so poorly that it comes off as nonsense.

53.30 to 53.45 is easily my favourite moment in the whole of these xfm shows , it's the perfect combination of Karl's ridiculous anecdotes Steves sharp wit and Ricky's infectious laugh.

Because there's a slight similarity with their accents, when Karl is talking about Neil Armstrong and space and stuff - it's a bit like listening to Professor Brian Cox after he's suffered a head injury

Has anyone noticed how many of Karls stories were featured in the TV show QI? The Neil Armstrong story, the tomato on lead plates story, the distance to space and several others. They all seem to be true in the fact that they are known stories, whether or not actually true or not?

I agree, but for the years after xfm that they worked together he has said a few times that hes very clever which is nice. It seems the OTT pisstaking only lasted through the second half of the xfm shows
