    Long overdue recognition for Filipino food, finally!

  • @ptg01

    So happy to see Filipino cuisine get the recognition it absolutely deserves... The challenge with Kasama is it is almost impossible to get dinner reservations and with dinner prix fixe price north of $ 230 per person sans beverages, it is definitely significantly higher end than the typical Filipino dining experience. It is positioned as a higher end dining "destination" for sure. Wishing KASAMA much success.

    Kasama actually means 'Companion'.
    Together means 'Magkasama' in Tagalog.

    As a 🇵🇭Pilipino, The only thing Pilipino about this restaurant is the chef & his skin color. That aint pilipino pood! You'll never find those kind of pood in the 🇵🇭Philippines. This is my Brutally Honest Review of Kasama's 13 course meal.
    1. Kinilaw is just 🇮🇹Italian ceviche. Caviar is never in pilipino cuisine & its more expensive than gold!🤪
    2. Lumpia is just 🇻🇳Vietnamese Spring roll. Oyster is typically grilled with melted cheese & garlic in 🇵🇭. Not Olive oil, this is just 🇮🇹 oyster.
    3. Nilaga is suppose to be beef shank soup, not a rice bowl with cabbage & marrow!
    4. Siomai is from 🇭🇰Hong Kong.
    5. Shitake Mushroom adobo, never once cooked in a pilipino home. Only the sauce is 🇵🇭.
    6. Salmon Chicharon. No Salmon in 🇵🇭 bec. it's expensive as Fk! , just bangus.
    7. Pancit is just 🇮🇹Italian pasta w squid ink.
    8. Kare-kare is suppose to be ox tail, no lamb in 🇵🇭. Only goats🐐.
    9. Bistek is just Japanese🇯🇵 Wagyu w a tagalog sauce. Thus the name "Bistek Tagalog".
    10. Truffle croissant is not even🇵🇭, it's French🇫🇷.
    11. Banana Cue is never eaten w creme. It's just carmelized brown sugar.
    12. Halo-halo in 🇵🇭 doesnt have lychee, honeydew granita & pandan. These are not even pilipino fruits!
    13. You'll never find Ube Basque Cake in the 🇵🇭. You'll find Ube Pan de Sal.

      Clap clap for your crab mentality! Whatever happened to food evolution? One restaurant introduces the Filipino food to the global scene and you pull them down? Kudos to you. You are one of the reasons why we havent evolved as a community.

    • @Sibak700
      @Sibak700 Год назад +2

      @@sherie38 Youre missing the point! They are not introducing pilipino pood! That's contemporary cuisine, pilipino inspired. Thats why Phil pood never gets recognition. Thailand, Vietnam pushes their original recipe not fusion. Thats why Pho & Pad Thai are world famous! 🤪

    • @nb6792
      @nb6792 Год назад +1

      true! I would love for Filipino food to be recognized globally but without the need to dress it up in western style. Caviar? Truffle? Really? It's Filipino-inspired maybe, but not Filipino resto.

    • @ptg01

    Kasama doesn't mean Together in Tagalog. He doesn't know our language. I doubt if he actually knows our cuisine. Maybe that's why he needed to put a twist on it. Because he doesn't understand it either.
