    I don't use the names provided for Chopin's music, but "Farewell" fits this one perfectly. Happy memories, but an element of sadness to say goodbye.

      That name was given by his ex girlfriend. They loved each other mutually but she was forced to marry someone else.

    Like so many have said already, your take on this waltz is very well done! I’ve listened to over 50 performers and recordings, as I’m finishing this song for performance and testing with MTAC. So many people rush or exaggerate the rubato too much, and don’t give enough love to the triplets throughout the song. Your expression and attention to detail was very heartening as I lost hope that people could express this song the way Chopin would have wanted. Bravo and thank you so much.

    I love this piece so much... reminds me of my girlfriend that died 3 years ago. we play duet together I'd be on the piano and her on the flute. She died peacefully on her sleep.
    Wish you can do an overhead recording of this one. It's always aesthetic to watch you play overhead. Cheers

      wait, so you’re 20 now. this comment was made 3 years ago, and stated she died 3 years prior, making that she has been dead for 6 years now (deceased since 2015). So that means you had a girlfriend at 14 who died? Yeah, idk it isn’t making much sense.

    Hi Paul, it would be out of this world if you made a video where there is a small box or split screen to view your footwork for a song. It would be a treat to see how you manage those 4 pedals and particularly your mastery of using the pedals in general.

    Hi Paul, do you have any advice on how to get started with a channel, I've just started mine and wondering how I can get views etc haha thanks

    • @PaulBartonPiano
      @PaulBartonPiano  9 лет назад +11

      +EllisSamuel -- advice? thanks for asking, actually I do. I've had this channel since 2008. My advice to you is to be true to yourself, only play and upload pieces you truly care about. If you get just one view, value it, one person listened to you, that means something. Try your best, because your best is always good enough. If you have time and the inclination, help and encourage others through your channel.

      +Paul Barton thanks man, that was an insightful answer. I guess I'll be doing a lot of Chopin then... with some of my own compositions here and there aha I'll also do my best to help and inspire others. Cheers

    Technically great. The interpretation is far too elastic for my taste. Rubato has limits! Let it be a waltz! All in my humble opinion.

    • @wykowski
      @wykowski 6 лет назад

      But it's lento. This is the slowest ive seen it played so far on youtube. Its a "fairwell" piece. I like to play it even like minimum 5 bpm slower than this in my opinion at least in the lento sections.
