  • Why did the Jedi and the Republic turn Mandalore into an uninhabitable wasteland?
The MOST EVIL Atrocity Committed By The Jedi (The Sith Genocide)⬇
    • The MOST EVIL Atrocity...
A recent episode of the Book of Boba Fett showed how the empire carpet-bombed the Mandalorian homeworld of Mandalore during an event known as the great purge. However, this massacre by the Empire was only finishing what the Jedi and Republic started many years before. In canon, the reasons why the Jedi devastated Mandalore is unclear although the expanded universe holds some answers. The Mandalorians had always been distrustful of the Republic, maintaining a distinct culture and refusing to integrate into the wider galaxy. 738 years before the clone wars, the Republic decided that this needed to change. Despite the fact the Mandalorians had been allied with the Republic and had helped vanquish the Sith, the Republic became distrustful of the flourishing Mandalorian economy and increasing independence. The Republic and Jedi therefore unleashed a preemptive strike against the Mandalorians, reducing their lush planet to a desert, installing a puppet government, and banning their religion in what would become known as the Mandalorian Excision.

Time and time again, its just shown that the jedi dealt in absolutes. They couldn't accept differences to their beliefs. It really makes the Sith seem more compassionate than the Jedi ever were. Just to expand that, the Sith from my knowledge were able to use both sides of the force, a balance if you will. The only issue with the majority was greed but even Jedi looking at them as a whole had the same issue. Nothing special or new looking at modern aspects really. The "Grey Jedi" I don't know much about so definitely worth looking into myself at least

    • @TY-km8hj
      @TY-km8hj 2 года назад +4

The sith didn't have any balance of any kind my guy. If a sith were to deviate from the dark side then they're no true sith, it literally goes against the philosophy, they'd just become a 'dark jedi', a dark side user who's not associated with the sith. The whole point of sith philosophy is embracing emotions and selfishness to its fullest and imposing ones will upon the force itself. They can't do that while keeping a a balance with the light. And the whole point of the dark side is that's like a drug addiction, its why it turns the greatest and kindest into the most depraved and selfish. As I said, there's no balance of any kind and I'm kinda baffed where u got that from.
Grey jedi are an interesting in between depending which definition is used since there's 2, but they're philosophy/place in star wars is iffy. Revan was the best example of a "grey jedi" or someone who had mastered a balance between light and dark

@@TY-km8hj no, Sith teachings don't force you to use the dark side. You're allowed to use the force however you desire. The Sith philosophy preaches absolute independence from anything. The idea of breaking your chains is that everything that might influence you should be done away with so that you are free. It's just that the Sith basically became a dark side cult but their teachings itself don't actually force you to embrace the dark and shun the light. It's just that in practice this usually happens.
The problem with the dark side is not that it takes strength to resist it as obi wan claims. What takes true strength is actually using the dark side without it using and corrupting you. And there are Sith that accomplish this. Think about Darth Marr, Darth Malgus, Darth sidious (even though in his youth he already was pretty much evil, the seeds were there. It wasn't the dark side that turned him into the little shit he was), Darth Vitiate, Marka Ragnos, Darth Revan, Darth Nox, Darth Plagueis, that one banite Sith who's name I forgot that basically retired and died (of old age) with his family and friends around him.
Vader for example was a little bitch to his emotions. He was a slave to his emotions and palpatine.
Although selfish and without empathy for the weak these Sith are not killing for fun or being ruled by their emotions. There have actually conquered the dark side and are also for the most part the Sith that are least likely (except for a few like vitiate) to kill you. These are the Sith again except for Vitiate that don't see the point of needless killing and are generally good leaders. Nothing holds them back and that includes empathy, but they are not evil compared to most of their coworkers.

It isn't unclear why they wiped out most of the Mandalorians. The Mandalorians were on the brink of conquering the galaxy through brutality and enslaving conquered races. Revan and Malak rose up against the Jedi code and orders to not join the war against the Mandalorians. The Jedi who went into battle fell to the dark side and that starts the story for the KotOR series. Most people know this, but this is the reason. The Jedi would have rathered innocent people fall to strife and suffering than lift a finger against the Mandalorians and the Sith saved the galaxy. Weird.

The Mandalorian Excision is a fascinating bit of Legends as it shows the Jedi can be morally dubious.
Of course if the old EU had continued I’m sure it would’ve been revealed the Excision was brought about by Sith manipulation that whatever the two Sith Lords were around at the time felt a strong independent Mandalore would be a problem for them so they pushed for it to be dealt with.
Not that that in anyway excuses the Republic or the Jedi for being party to such an atrocity.
It just show how the Jedi were already losing their way and acts a prelude to their downfall in The Clone Wars.

Judging by some of the comments it seams he intentionally leave stuff out to make the Jedi look bad and making it a ovwr simplified about what actually happen. Also Mandaloran has a history of starting wars, Genocide, and warcrime. Like they torture and enslaved a entire race till they devolved into animal that they still used. Like those dragon you see the Mandaloran riding to attack the red skin Sith? That used to be a intelligent alien race that they conquered and enslaved, and they still used those aliens as a beast of burden.

This right there is why I never truly believed the Jedi were the "good guys" their ways often seemed just as wrong as the Sith's. Taking things by force and not allowing other's to stand on their own two feet with their own cultures and beliefs, that sounds more like an empire thing to do, yet here we are, all the same in some ways.
I always tried to explain to my father how Jedi and Sith really aren't that different, there is no black or white, there is grey areas all over and just because we usually see the Jedi's point of view, while being told they're the good guys does not mean they can't also be bad people.
(Of course he didn't have the same beliefs so I cut down some younglings while maintaining intense eye contact. He never stood up to me again so I call that an absolute win!)
