Music and Lyrics by Stefan Schmidt: "Falling Down is a Van Canto powerhouse, a composition with powerful vocal riffing, endless harmonies and a dramatic arrangement. The lyrics describe the timeless moment of creativity when you feel a melody entering your brain to then materialize into music.
We put our focus on all the details in the vocal arrangements, tying together Sly's heroic lead voice together with Hagen's rough power and Inga's epic smoothness like an eight-knot. Falling Down combines Van Canto's trademarks and brings them to life by a combination of a rock'n'roll stage environment, on- and off-stage visuals and a lot of Power - of Eight and more, thanks to all the people involved! It is inspired by all work Robert Naumann has done in all previous videos of Van Canto. Robs, we love you and we miss you."

This. This is my Van Canto.
I'm a Fan since 2010, and Sly leaving has marked a huge difference in style for the band. Not even in a negative way, BUT in a way, where I for myself wasn't able to connect to Van Canto in the "familiar" way anymore.
As soon as I heard Sly's Voice in this song back again after so many years... it gave me instantly chills.
Sly is Van Canto.

Heard Sly's Voice and thought: "YES this is VAN CANTO"! Felt the same way with Sly's departure.
2010 marked my beginning with VC as well.
When I heard, that Sly will leave, I was curious what difference it will make.
I still really liked their songs to the fullest but hearing him again shows me, why I fell in love with this band and their music.
It is like you find something again that you didn't really knew you've lost.
And for me, his voice works just fine with Hagens side by side.
im a fan too, but they don´t come to Spain why? why dont come here to Madrid?
Sly is the soul on this band, can't take him out!
That is it. His voice is more like a Popstar or a Musical Singer this makes Van Canto special.

It's difficult for me to understand all words by hearing because my English isn't so well. So thank you for writing the lyric! I wonder who is the author of the lyrics of a new album? Is it about new ways of creating music? I think you sounds well. And it is a good way to get more singers. I think it gives more variations in music.
And let Hagen use his "rough power" more often. Have you considered "Beauty and the Beast" musical trick: a combination of a clean female vocal and a rough male vocal?

One question. The line at 1:24 "Is it burden or gift I have been given". Sly is cleary not singing "gift" which word is he singing instead? 😅 Or are my ears broken?

@stRojowy no one really knows as far as I am aware. My assumption was that maybe he wanted to do his own thing or try singing for a real band.
Time management issues and changing personal priorities, if I remember correctly. We should not forget that Van Canto is a hobby for all of them. But even in his goodbye message, he said he would join as a guest when time permits.

@stRojowy AFAIK he had to leave for personal reasons. Most of them are still working a second job next to the band, so I always assumed that he got promoted or something and maybe got a child and being a band lead was just the tad bit too much.
like, on the official note on the website he wrote that it's a decision that personal matters pretty much forced him to make and that he'd be open to do features in the future (duh). It was pretty much the og 6s project and they stayed true to it for over 15 years. Listening to them since 2013, I think I qualify as a longtime fan now and I'm so so happy they made this beauty of an album.
I honestly love that they do their own version of the Napalm Records logo audio. I love it every time I hear it.

As everyone already said, this is now the Van Canto we all love and want to hear! This is truly the Van Canto I fell in love with back in 2010! Even though I don't dislike Trust in Rust, let's be honest.... I truly think that that album needs to stand as a lesson of what not to do.
Holy! This is a way better start for the upcoming album than trust in rust had. The whole composition feels amazing, like van canto should have ever been like this. Inga with the beautiful voice, sly with the epic clear voice and hagen with the crazy shit with his voice is an amazing combination. And everything combined with a big load of rakataka. I'm excited to hear how the rest sounds.

I think this band is the perfect example for that former band members can return and stand on one line with the new ones. First it was Ike, now it's Sly who comes back! I am so unimaginably happy with Sly being back for this album. This album really feels like what Van Canto should feel like to me, and I just can't get enough of it! I liked Trust in Rust, but it definitely didn't quite feel right to me and I took a little bit of a hiatus listening to them for a while, and when I saw this new album was out, I decided to give it a listen. And let me tell you, I fell in love instantly, and I literally did a double take when I heard Sly, I was so damn excited! You might think that with 8 members that the sound could get a little crowded, but everyone's voices and talents just work absolutely perfect with each other, and I love them so much, I've come to recognize and pick out every individual voice (even you Bastian ;)). Van Canto has always been an enormous part of my life, and this album made me fall in love all over again! Can't wait to see where you guys go next! You know I'll be right here
I also want to add that even though I am really excited that Sly is back, that in no way means that I disliked Hagen as a lead singer, or takes away from the absolutely amazing talent of all the other members. They all do so much for the band and it's sound, and I feel like they really found a way for Hagen's incredibly unique voice to shine, rather than distract in this album!

This is the absolute perfect A-Capella voice setup, totally love this combination! Every voice is used perfectly! This album is surely gonna be a blast! Can't wait!

Hab sie 2009 live beim Magic Circle 2 gesehen, eine von zwei Bands wo eine Zugabe gefordert wurde. Ich kannte Van Canto vorher garnicht aber einen Tag später musste ich erstmal ein paar CDs kaufen.

Holy shit talking about a comeback!!! They completely lost my faith with Trust in Rust, that was honestly one of the worst albums i ever heard but this sounds AMAZING! i truly thought they stretched the idea of a capella metal as far as they could and they were done for, but they got Sly back (yaay!) and then drop this gem... And totally redeemed themselves. Mad respect! 🤘🏻

im so glad sly is back. i havent listened to van canto since after they released Voices of fire. Ever since sly left it hasnt been the same for me. im not a fan of Hagens vocals at all. This new album is bringing me back though
