The part about resilience reminded me of a note I wrote in my phone when I woke up randomly one night. “I’m stuck between versions of myself. I look back at who I was, then think about how who I am today would have found him so annoying, but who I used to be would be so disappointed with who I am today.”
Watching this in 2022 feels like a warm hug. I'm struggling so much with being about to turn 21 and making a career in the arts and I genuinely feel like I am talking it through with a friend. 🥺Watching all your vlogs for comfort rn to remind me that EVERYONE who is our age and dealing with the constant emotional struggle of being an artist has these feelings regardless of where they're at. Also watching you speak to a past relationship and knowing where you and Josh are at now is SO beautiful. I think we would've been besties in another life, genuinely, and I hope you remember to find console in your own growth and progress the way we all are by watching these back. Whether you were seemingly more resilient once upon a time is irrelevant; you're surviving and living and choosing to face things every single day regardless of what you're faced with. It would be so easy to hide and shrink yourself with everything that happens and every bittersweet moment of the past three years but you don't and I think that is more resilient than anything. I am sending you all the love in the world, the first time I heard you say "loving you is the easiest thing for me to do" I burst into tears because I was particularly fragile and I am a water sign ok sue me but you are so RIGHT. It is so easy to love and emotions are hard and scary and making art amplifies that to a level where half of you feels as though you are tearing out your own heart and the other half feels like you're sewing it back together yourself through the process. I am going on a tangent, but I hope at some point you come back here and see not only this random girl on the internet having a MOMENT and a half, but to see and acknowledge your own emotional growth and healing. My way of coping with the pandemic has been to find ways to distract myself and keep myself happy or occupied. But I keep forgetting that it isn't that easy for extroverts since their idea of distraction involves going out and doing things with other people. Thanks for the reminder. Hope you're taking care of yourself and having fun working on your music.
That lack of former resilience...I feel that so hard. I feel like this past year I have become so much more sensitive, but in reality I just do not have my normal outlets to help me get over the things that make me upset - still over time I’ve found a bit more comfort in sitting with my feelings instead. So glad you’re working with a therapist (hope it’s helpful). I started therapy a few months ago and even though I’m goin’ broke doing it, I am so grateful to learn how to process my feelings in a healthy way with the help of a professional. I’d recommend it to anyone, at least just to try, because I think this pandemic might’ve broken me if I went on any longer bottling my feelings. It’s wonderful that you’re taking care of your mental health, because you are so so worth it ❤️ And I can’t wait to hear your new music when you release it ❤️ You have such a beautiful voice and soul ✨ Keep sharing your art.
