I don't think ''stress'' or even poverty is as risky to life as a new kiddy trend of wearing masks and wielding knives on the ''streets'' would be. Yes let's ban the only options these youths have to break through the mold and keep them in such a dire situation where they commit crime and continue the cycle
frosty he’s talking about the kids with nice families at home that ain’t struggling and roam the streets wearing masks because what they’ve seen on RUclips and you can’t say that don’t happen because I’ve seen it and I don’t even hate on drill music the argument that this is all they got to break through is dumb maybe for the actual people living in shitty areas but the influence does spread out to posher areas and it’s actually stupid lol

A whole documentary was made about how knife crime and drill music is not related, yet you only talked about drill music and knife crime. After a point being made about knife crime you talked about drill music. Essentially creating an impression that knife crime and drill music is linked together
You can’t deny that young kids listen to grill and they think it’s normal to push drugs and carry knifes. This get rich quick at all cost mentality, with no respect for each other is disturbing. What happened to respect your fellow man? When they blame they have no choice as they live in the hood and can’t get any money. Kid your 14 your not suppose to have money, get your head down do your school work and work hard to get a good job, be patient, have ambition and good things will happen.
This is a landmark documentary. Just like Hip-Hop Culture in the US, the UK is no different - A sociopolitical message from people in the struggle to change, through Music & Arts. The Hip-Hop genre has evolved massively, but the spirit of the genre will always remain the same.
The DrillMinister is fucking fire man. I really appreciate that puts a Progressive flare to his music. I’m a huge of Progressive music like Pink Floyd, Tool, Joy Division, Kid Cudi, hell even XXXTentation’s music is pretty progressive, and the like. The end brought tears to my eyes. Great documentary. The video featured young men such as Kidavelly who usually is on a negative knife carrying, "kill or be killed" tip. But here, even he is attempting to make positive moves and sounding remorseful and cognizant of the pain felt by victims' families in the aftermath of violent attacks. Bravo!! The ending song was the tearjerker. I thought of all those young lives lost and wondered if they could have ever imagined their regular "day to day mothers" being in a situation where they would be on camera, making melodious music that would go out to millions around the world................ That is so emotional 😢
One interesting thing I remember hearing when I was little (regarding rappers), is that death and murder are a lot like bad men. If you talk about them enough, they are going to come find you. Of course this isn’t universal, but I think its just worth thinking about.

Young men and teenagers are serial killers and we glorify it and praise them. It's so backwards. Some of these guys just want clout and money. It's on us to reject their message. And watch them say they are just reporting what happens on the streets. No - they make it look fun, they don't talk about the pain. Stabbing is one of the most brutal ways to kill somebody but we have kids talking about whats the score like its call of duty. Using slang like chinging, dipping and cheffing, just trivialises the gravity of what its like to take somebodies life with a knife, and turns it into a game.
exactly. I mean who would've known that kids wouldn't take this ''life'' thing seriously. And who would've said it was our responsibility to teach our youngers morals of the world we live in. Sadly things becoming more backwards the more our elders accept these grotesque and immature fantasies. It is dangerous because children often want their fantasy to become reality. Back in the day it was the parents job to say ''no, this isn't how the world works''. And ofc they see it as a game they haven't existed long enough to realise the gravity of the situation they are in. Trust me if it comes to it i will be defending my life even if it means having to kill (or should i say slay, to sound ''cool'') a child. If a child comes at me donned as a murderer i will not assume it is a child playing a game of fantasy. This happened to me one time and i realized pretty much instantly that calling police would not have stopped the robbers in time. From a distance i assumed they were murderers. If i had a knife on me, i may had resorted to using it to defend myself. When i approached these kids, it dawned on me, they were teenagers, and they were trembling with their hands that held the knives, limp, pointing towards the ground. When i asked them what it was about it seemed they only were after my wallet. I gave them the wallet, thinking it was a rather trivial thing to risk or threaten with the prospect of violence over. Even if i had a knife on me, i would have rather given them the wallet than attack them pre-emptively. Before that happened, i never felt it necessary to carry a knife. I'm nearly 30, and now i feel i have to carry a knife in case a crazy teenager suffering from angst decides to pull another stunt because of the music they listen to. If the music is glamorizing dressing up like a murderer (and to foreigners, trust me, it *is* ) then this is going to end up with children being killed by the people they attack. I never carried a knife before, but since that happened i feel like i must be prepared for the worst. This is paranoia, and is not healthy. Thing is i grew up practically in a track suit. These kids really just don't get it. And don't get me started on the foreigners. RUclips ''Dutch drill'' and look at the news piece. These people don't understand british culture (youtube lil kleine - cijfers) so they try to emulate it. Including this drill shit. Can't get over how you people aren't seeing the consequences of this stuff just because GTA exists and didn't get banned (even though many fucking organizations actually tried to yknow). Sad thing is GTA was made in spirit of parody but it seems we are losing day by day that very essential piece of british culture. We've started to look at what is parody and mistake it for reality. It's so complicated i can't even explain this shit anymore. British culture loves exaggeration for example but when a Dutchy sees this he takes it literally and you just completely lose what is essential about the exaggeration.
So UK drill started in Brixton yea, my hometown. Keep on pushing forward my brothers. Just try not to get caught up in the mix up and focus on the music, be ambitious and take over.
Personally I think drill is different in many ways as in like u have drilly drill like this ones where you rap about stabbing ur opps and talking about the dead , that one there is what promotes more violence these are the ones that don’t care about the music they are just doing it to annoy their opps. Then there’s actually good drill where like these are the one who wants to actually blow in music I mean don’t get me wrong they are still talking about stabbing but only to a certain degree, these one are the songs that actually helps them blow and make it in music like: Unkown T homerton B, Headie one- golden boot, Digga D- no diet etc.
Solutions -Don't have kids if you live in poverty -Don't carry knives -Take self defence classes -Lift weights and do martial arts -Get a good education -Find a job in a safer area and move there -Get a job -If you're going to sell drugs don't draw attention to yourself -If you're going to sell drugs don't be violent -Save and invest your money -Don't waste money on designer clothes/expensive watches/jewellery -If you're a man don't abandon your children -Look for positive male role models -Get into boxing/music/comedy/writing books as a way to make money -Make positive music -Help people in need -Don't glorify drugs/knives/violence in music -Find positive hobbies (boxing/music/MMA/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu/The Gym/dancing/running) -Hang around with people trying to better themselves -Don't blame everyone else -Take personal responsibility -Don't give the police attitude if they pull you over
You have some good points but some have to be criticised. Like the other poster said it sounds so simple. I don't go to church never will do and have never been on a negative path.
@@icilmaa I never said people have to go to church to be a good person I just think it can prevent SOME people from doing bad things. Especially people who live in these sorts of areas. I know its not as simple as just doing all those things but they would solve a lot of problems.
My first thought was with Drill is it's a criminal trying to make his/her crimes seem cooler, I do uphold freedom of speech and I remember when they tried to ban Heavy metal because we would all worship the devil and ritual killings etc... People really need a better grasp of reality.
this video is great! young people who’s doing this road thing need to understand, stop hanging with the wrong crowd or whatsoever and you’ll see that carrying knives will be useless. i came from the hood aswell and never had a knife on me or anything.. even knowing that i could get stabbed or shot anytime. i just kept myself out of trouble. and made it out of the hood by focussing on positivity.
As an outsider old dog,I believe drill shouldn’t be demonized,it is a very important inside expression, and good delivery of it…truth can be harsh and uncomfortable far too often…respect to this art form
Never heard of Kidavelly before the documentary. Seeing that *Term&Conditions* is GRM Daily's first documentary on Drill, I thought that Kidavelly is a prominent artist on the music scene. But after doing research on him...nah🤢 Couldn't take the documentary seriously.

I know there is racism within the working environment and people are only employing ethnicity groups because of the rota they need to make , but he said one thing that just made me think . He said they want the same wage as bankers, we need to start changing the narrative .. instead of playing into the stereotype. Yes you may have to work a bit harder but honestly I dont know anyone who is self employed ( runs a business/makes music ) that hasn't needed to work or "stack bread" to re invest in them selves. If you think drill does not affect people. Just one full day of listening to that music can change your whole mood and vibrations you are sending out. Mums out here allowing there kids to sell drugs because it is making life easy, I know its hard because of the large amounts of poverty. There needs to be more opportunities for kids of a younger age , If kids could do apprenticeships from the age of 13 and still go to school or even work ( not at child wage but 25+wage ) I think we would see a difference. Drill is not the only type of music you can make, your normally see that over time these rappers become more conscious, but maybe if we change the type of music people want to make and show them other avenues of music.... I know this is a lot of peoples reality is a way to express and also has changed a lot of peoples life ( but it also shows young kids that this is a way to become something people feel they need to live this life to be making money or even to make the music. The government is a lot to play in this due to cuts of funding for young kids , but we also have to take a part of the responsibility as individuals, social media, schools , parents , the industry. WE HAVE ALL LOST SOMEONE DUE TO THIS LIFESTYLE ( it may never end as we have always had #thuglifestyle but we can help reduce it and show other ways to becoming successful people.

exactly its easier for the government to blame music than help poor people whether black, white or whatever race. theyd rather ignore the poor until it becomes a headline (and a headache for them). its the same in ireland but not with black people, poor white kids are doing the same as poor black ppl in england. poverty is the problem not fuckin music

Yes let's ban the only options these youths have to break through the mold and keep them in such a dire situation where they commit crime and continue the cycle

@@joshuavirag1407 what does that have to do with my comment?
Well structured doc
Female representation in music videos is so overlooked and not taken seriously. I’ve seen barely any comments addressing it
The narrator talks so well, great video
Man the last part had me tearing up. We’ve got STOP!! killing each other. It’s not Fair. I pray for them all 🙏🏾

@@icilmaa I never said people have to go to church to be a good person I just think it can prevent SOME people from doing bad things. Especially people who live in these sorts of areas. I know its not as simple as just doing all those things but they would solve a lot of problems.
