Yeah the fighter system is kinda crap, most ships now rely on death blobbing and catapult fighters to take care of CV problem. Only way you can solo away from team is if you have good AA in general or that stacked on with DFAA

It's funny just meme-ing on CVs when I play my Hood, they don't think it has that good an AA suite and then i press the "delete sky cancer" button and just make them go "WTF just happened" and i'm just sitting there with a smug face saying "You've never played against a Hood in a CV have you?"

A Fubuki I ended up rocket planing to death cause he wanted B cap for free took his inevitable demise in good faith and instead blamed the enemy CV for not giving him fighter cover. I used the "useless" zeroes on the Ryujo to do that btw. They may be made of paper but 5 strikes will kill a DD lol.

Ive seen arguments that stabilized sights is a noob magnet and doesn't shave very much off your aim time. I can kind of see that, since it is a 4 point skill and it should offer significant advantage to be worth that much. I just wonder if it wouldn't be worth more to get concealment expert or radio location. (It works for planes too.)
I heard some pretty convincing arguments for skipping Air Supremacy and Last Gasp Tier 1 Captain skills, AS because the 5% less plane restore time is just not enough and gives you maybe 1-2 additional planes in the course of a full match, whereas Last Gasp is irrelevant because your last flight from a squadron is usually heavily damaged already and won't make it to the target OR you're attacking something with weak AA and thus don't need it. It was argued to select Priority Target instead, because it lets you see how many ships are currently targeting your planes with AA. I found that quite helpful for getting out of insta-death AA zones before they tore my squadron up completely. As for Stabilized Sights vs Concealment Expert... I'd personally go with CE on Japanese CV's, because catching enemy ships off guard and outside of heavy AA cover is much more important for the fragile japanese planes than faster sight stabilization. For US and UK CV's on the other hand, it might be worthwhile.
She is the best ship simply because her ... erm ... deck is just this flat. No other ship has ... uh ... a deck this perfectly made for planes. If we ever get a Big Ryujo ... she'd become the top tier toppest of the top tierd fla--- i mean perfect flight deck ship.
Spotting at the beginning is a mistake. It usually encourages people to clump up and play against you. Ships players tend to fall into a mental track and stay there. If you put them in a track to play against you that's what they'll do. If you let them focus on something else you'll usually enjoy more opportunity.
