Thanks for the education, Kay! I really had not even thought about wearing a front tuck on my 69 year old frame! I’m going to debut my new look at church tomorrow!😆😍
You do such a nice job educating and encouraging. ‘Public’ speaking is hard and you do a beautiful job with pacing, and present yourself as relaxed and sincere. Well done!
Great video! :) As a French woman I prefer the full tuck (all around), because it's chic, neat and so elegant. In my country it's a timeless way of wearing a button up shirt or top, we've done it for many decades and if there are loops, it looks perfect with a belt. But the front tuck can be nice too (as you've beautifully demonstrated) as a more relaxed, "décontracté" look that's been trendy for a while. And no tuck is great too if it's best for the body proportions, to hide a round tummy, or for a relaxed look and it's also the appropriate way to wear tunics or tops made of heavy fabric as you mentioned. If we don't want to tuck our shirt but still want to highlight our waist, we can also wear a belt over the shirt. Not so trendy now but can be so flattering with the right belt. Just my 2 cents :)
Thanks so much for sharing Bri. I do personally wear a full tuck quite often. But I think many American women have gotten away from that for so long that now it feels foreign. But it’s definitely worth trying for most. 🥰
I've been front tucking for several months now and I swear it makes a big difference in how I look--more modern and pulled together. So thanks for the hints and details for making it work better.
You're absolutely right. I was watching this stylist at my salon while I was getting my hair done and she was very overweight. But she had front stacked a loose blouse the top of her skirt and she looked amazing
Thanks for all the help in this video, not j only the front tuck, which I have yet to master, but tucking in general which I’m doing more now, and proportions, now I understand why I disliked how capris looked on me! Proportions were all wrong
This was great Kay! You helped me understand my proportions better - and now I know why I dislike high rise jeans! They are all wrong for my body type and a front tuck was adding to the problem. 😂 I'm going back to my mid-rise jeans and I'm excited to start experimenting with your suggestions. Thank you for giving us some much needed direction on this topic! 💛Robin
Wonderful! I’m so glad you benefited from the video. It really is all about knowing our bodies and how different styles work for us. Thanks for watching Robin. 🥰
@@annettepellowe9847 hi Annette! I am tall( 5’9”) and have long legs, which makes me appear short waisted. I usually try to balance things with tunics because they are long, but I think Kay’s idea of applying the 2/3 rule of proportion is the most flattering. 👍😊
What's funny is all through my teen years my sister kept trying to get me to wear a belt around my waist and I kept telling her no no I don't like it now I know why
I have found shapewear panties help me to wear the all tuck with blousing it out a bit. I'm a curvy petite with a little round belly. I never thought I would tuck in and wear belts but my outfits are looking better because I can create something close to an hourglass figure. These are great tips Kay. Thank you!
Good Morning Kay I Have struggled with the front tuck! After watching you video I will keep working at it! I love the concept but I am never sure if it looks right or not!
Hi Kay, I shopped at my local Talbot's today and asked the ladies who work at the store if they had heard of you. They wrote your information down and are looking forward to watching your videos! Thanks for all the great advice.
This was so much more information than I imagined! I had no idea all the ways to do this. I have just muddled through on my own, but the info on proportion makes so much sense.
Great educational video however, I’m one with full-figured proportions better suited to other styles. I love your channel. Thank you for all the hard work you do. Melissa 🌼
Most importantly, the front tuck also enables all the positives you listed without all the confining bulk of an all round tuck. Before high rise came back into fashion, I took all my t-shirts to the tailor to have them hemmed to the perfect length for me. It was pricy but worth it. The front tucked is a game changer now.
At last, I understand how and when to tuck… or not!!! Your video is very informative, and now, I understand better why certain things didn’t look good on me. I had discovered recently that crop tops were more flattering on me, and thanks to your explanations, now, I know why! Have a great day, Kay!
Unfortunately I can't front tuck. I have no waist (anymore) and a belly, not a huge one, but big enough to hide it. I would never draw attention to that negative part, while I have better parts like slim legs f. ex. But I love to learn here with you.
Thank you for this. I do what you do & tuck my shirt all the way in & then start pulling out. I wish there were more short tops so we don't have to do this. Great advice. 🌹
I am glad to hear crop tops are in style; top lengths have continued to increase over the past 10 years which is very challenging for those of us who are petite. Too much to tuck in
Annette here, as a skinnier apple sometimes it will work and sometimes not. Apples can try a tuck a bit off to the side, or better yet use a clear elastic and pinch a bit of your t-shirt slightly to the side. 👍
Great info! I am a huge fan of the front tuck especially for shorter framed women. I also wear alot of crop t shirts and tops. Two great stores to get crop tops that the proportion fits a more mature body is Banana Republic and Aritzia. They have tons of choice and not too pricey.
Thanks for the tips on the front tuck. I have just started tucking more again since the high waist jeans and pants are back. Rah! I did not like the low waisted pants and jeans. I am long waisted with shorter legs and they did not look good on me or I was always pulling them up.
I think brands are starting to do a little better about offering a variety of inseams and rises as they see consumers wising up and becoming more discriminating. 😉
l have been on Marie Anne Lecoeur videos and l have to say she is a very interesting women and very knowledgeable. l have tried the front tuck and l have to say l like it. It make a different look for the outfit.
I often enjoy tucking in snug ALL around as it just makes me...pulled together. Living in FL however, I endeavor to get as much 'air flow' as possible when out & about because i am not always in a/c; so not tucking in is more my normal speed.
Hi Kay, thank you so much for another informative video! Could you please tell me where you got that beautiful necklace that is shown at 11:38? It is absolutely gorgeous!! Thanks.
True!!! I also have a bit of a tummy and will try tucking my tops from now on - in another video the use of good undergarments was discussed which I may try - but not just for bombing around my small town. :)
Thank you for your advice. I have a very short torso and long long legs. My Inseam is 34 inches. I finally found pants that are long enough. Lucky brand. I do took my tops in and they really look nice I like it
I had mentioned I needed long jeans with a 34 inch inseam. I cannot wear cropped pants as I have many spider veins in my feet and they look terrible. I have to hide my lower calf and my feet. I usually wear sneakers with my long jeans. Do you have any other suggestions?
Well, you may disagree with me, but I say wear those ankle length and cropped pants anyhow. I’m not talking about capris that show your calf, but just cropped pants that show a little ankle. I think you’re probably much more aware of your veins than other people are. I doubt anyone else is looking down there. That’s just my thoughts. But you need to be comfortable and confident in what you wear, so definitely do what you feel best in. But I’ve discovered over the years that no one dissects me the way I do. And I certainly don’t look at other women’s ankles or legs. I couldn’t tell you a single woman in my church who has spider veins on her legs, but I know there are probably many. And it’s not because they hide them, but because I honestly don’t look there. Just something to think about. 💕💕💕
I tuck in my tops just to improve my proportions, as you say. I have a thick middle, but I tuck because without it, my legs look really short. Cutting the body in half visually, with tops ending at the leg break, makes people look short and stumpy. Thanks for covering the topic.
Is there a good way to make a too long tee shirt (which they all seem to be these days) look better without taking it to the sewing machine and making it shorter? I seem to recall somewhere I saw where safety pins were used underneath the shirt on the sides at the bottom to make a sort of gathered look and thus make it shorter on the sides. Is that as clear as mud?
Hi Kay. You show a turquoise print top with v neck and flutter sleeves, paired with jeans, as an option for covering that apple shaped tummy. Can you tell me where to find that and if it's still available?
Hi Wendy. that photo is from a couple of years ago. The top was by Investments and it was a Dillard's exclusive. I don't see anything like it there now, but you can check out the brand's shirts here: rstyle.me/+ju2Zri8ua-cLzYbD-QFJ1A
Great video! I have tried a front tuck many times with all different blouses. It never works for me but I have a very large disproportionate bust that I like to minimize by wearing flowy and tunic type shirts. I try to draw attention to my face instead of my waist. Hope that helps someone.
Front tuck is out for me as iI carry weight in my lower abdomen no matter how much I lose or work out ..:/ Would you do a follow up post with pics for ways we can camouflage/distract from protruding abdomen?
I’m only 5’2” and often wear Levi pull on denim jeans with a yoga type waistband. (No visible elastic) Is it ok to do a front tuck with this type of jeans?
I think the key there is to let the tucked top blouse over the waist band to conceal it. Then again, elasticized waist bands are kind of trending right now. 🤷🏼♀️ So who’s to say you have to hide it? 😉
Hi Elizabeth. I’m not sure what all your requirements are for modesty, but I’m assuming you’re either attending a workout group class, working out in a gym or walking/running in public places and want to be covered. I know they’re a little pricier than some, but I almost exclusively wear Athleta workout wear simply because they are so well constructed and fit great. I appreciate that they have no-slip grip edging around the hemline of many of their shirts so they don’t fly up as you exercise and bend over. They also have no-stink technology. Ha! And you can find tops in all sorts of options. And leggings and shorts in all lengths. They do have joggers too if you prefer. shopstyle.it/l/bu7bm
This is so funny because believe it or not, the front tuck is a topic of discussion at our house. My husband doesn't get why only a front tuck instead of a full tuck and I'm still not sure I know how to answer that! Give me something I can throw at him!
She recommended no tuck for someone with a protuberant belly and said to go with something like a tunic. There are a lot of videos on the topic of dressing your body shape though. I love watching them all!
I'm 5'4" & I've completely given up wearing Capri or cropped pants. I've never found a single pair that don't make me look matronly. I only front tuck when wearing midrise skinny jeans
I’m 5’3, and don’t wear cropped pants, although I live in Florida and everyone keeps telling me to wear them for comfort in the heat. They make me look shorter and dumpier. Ugh
I like the look of a tuck, but do you have the frustrating experience of tiny holes appearing at the bottom of your knit tops where they have been tucked in? I get so exasperated at spending money on good knits, only to have these ruinous holes appear at the bottom front of my tops! And these are tops from all sorts of stores: Talbot’s, Boden, Chico’s, Old Navy, JCrew, Target, etc. Solutions?
Hi Lisa. I actually have had the opposite problem. I’ve notice a couple of times when I didn’t tuck my shirt in and then I went to the grocery store or wherever and used one of those carry baskets to carry my purchases, I ended up with a hole from the top scraping against my fly. 🤷🏼♀️ Now I try not to let that happen anymore. But I’ve never had a hole appear after tucking. 🙂Maybe someone else will chime in with a suggestion. The only thing from my experience I can suggest is to be careful not to carry anything heavy or lean against anything with that area of your body. 🤷🏼♀️
Thank You for sharing, there’s this person who has a RUclips channel who tells her viewers to do a “pocket tuck” she even demonstrates it. It absolutely looks ridiculous I commented to her that it just didn’t look right and looked like an accident when the person reaches into a pocket and gets their top stuck in the pocket.🤣I don’t think she really appreciated my input, but it’s just a ridiculous look. Have you ever done a “front pocket tuck”? Maybe I’ve been out of the fashion do’s & don’t during Covid quarantine?😳🧐🤪
I am not sold on the front tuck but have warn it. When I first saw it when my now 30yo was a teenager, I felt it looked like she'd gone to the bathroom and the front of her top got stuck when she was fastening her jeans. That has stick with me when I see it. I like the look from the front or back. But from the side....not so much.
Thanks for the education, Kay! I really had not even thought about wearing a front tuck on my 69 year old frame! I’m going to debut my new look at church tomorrow!😆😍

I didn't see the button down shirt front tuck. Is it in a different video?
No I just did a tee and she’ll in those one. I may have talked about that a bit in previous videos. But I can share more later too.
This is so funny because believe it or not, the front tuck is a topic of discussion at our house. My husband doesn't get why only a front tuck instead of a full tuck and I'm still not sure I know how to answer that! Give me something I can throw at him!
Leaving the back untucked fools the eye into thinking the law of gravity has been repealed, ie, your bottom is just a bit higher Ha!
Great tips and tricks but, I have a protuberant belly so, how can I tuck a long shirt? Thanks!
She recommended no tuck for someone with a protuberant belly and said to go with something like a tunic. There are a lot of videos on the topic of dressing your body shape though. I love watching them all!
No need to do that. Just choose nicely draping tops. Thanks so much for watching. 🥰
I'm 5'4" & I've completely given up wearing Capri or cropped pants. I've never found a single pair that don't make me look matronly. I only front tuck when wearing midrise skinny jeans
You sound like a smart lady who knows what works for her body. Good for you! That’s what it’s all about. 😊
Solutions?
I thought I was the only one! I’d love to hear the solution.
Hi Irma. No, I’ve never heard of a front pocket tuck at all. 🙂
@@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms I never have either. Thank goodness it’s just this lady’s idea of a style tip😳🤯🤣
Thank You for your amazing videos🥰
❤️👍
Erkel Effect.😹😂💕
Front tuck is silly. Why? Why? Either tuck all the way around or don’t tuck at all. Kooky!!!!
That’s your opinion. Thanks for sharing. But a lot of women enjoy the style hack. 😉
I have a protruding stomach and glad to hear no tucking needed. It's hard to know what to do for older women to look nice and be in style. Thank you.
I’ve got a great video covering that next week! 😉
If this is the biggest problem you're having today then you're doing okay!
Lol! Well fashion is definitely not a weighty matter. But it is part of a well balanced and enjoyable life. 😊
*worn
Yeah, I agree it’s not the most flattering from the side. Honestly I choose to fully tuck my top all the way around more often just for that reason. 😉
I'm too old for the front tuck. Looks to sloppy. But I like your videos!
Thanks for watching Judy. 😊
I love a French Tuck... suddenly I have a waist.
It seems to me like anybody that has an apple shape for oval shape always misses out on cool stuff
Hahaha! Well I think we all have our challenges and limitations. Only Barbie has the perfect body! 😉
To me a half tuck just looks sloppy. Either tuck your top in or leave it out.
Also if you do not front tuck you often times look older and only interested in practicality
Looks younger looking or your in with fad!
Thank you for watching. 😊
I am not a fan of the front tuck... to each his own though.
Yep! Thank you for watching Debbie. 🥰
Never liked it, makes you look lazy.
