Love joining you and all our stylish sisters each week to keep our looks up to date but comfy for us senior ladies...be well and safe and enjoy our summer!!!
I want to take this opportunity to Thank you. This is the first summer in my 67 years that I can go to my closet and grab anything and it will go together. Today my Husband said lets go to the car show. I had been gardening but ran in the house to clean up. I put my hair in a messy bun, grabbed cloths out of my closet and was ready. Thanks for all the help !!! I Love it !!! 😊😊😊😊😊
Loved all the ideas, Kay, thanks so much! All so great! Also loving the relaxed fit pants. Will be checking out those links! 💕 Blessings to you! Also loving seeing you on Instagram stories more!
Also, I really try to do things as early as possible. It makes a big difference in my car temperature! I love your fashion ideas, Kay. Thank you so much!
I liked the skirt and tee with tennis shoes, I bought this skirt and is so cute!. the red dress, the pants from Talbots, but the light ones are sold out in medium. Think I have something similar. I have shorter kimonos because I am 5'3" and the long ones swallow me up. Sounds like you are having fun with your Mother and Daughter. Such memories. Glad the BFMD are going to be on Wednesdays also.
I loved all the suggestions and formulas. I am still shopping for the perfect black pant and I need to get some flowy shirts and/or kimonos for the summer to wear over tanks. I don't like to show my upper arms. I lost over 30 pounds pretty quickly about 4 years ago and I just can't seem to get those arms firmed back up. And, because I'm short, it's difficult to find a shirt or kimono that doesn't hang too long on me (I'm 5 foot even). But, I'll continue searching.
Same. I’m 5’7” (just lost 30 lbs too) and don’t like the longer lengths kimonos /cardigans bc they can swallow me up and make my legs seem shorter. 😂 I prefer to use my linen button down or chambray shirts as a summer coverups...
We are going to put out into the universe that your perfect length kimono options come onto your path!!! By the way..l think we are all in the loose upper arm club now that we've decided to honor our health and lose the weight so covering the upper arm is paramount in my shopping too, these days!!
Hi Angela. Some brands even have kimonos and ruanas in petite sizes. Otherwise I just suggest choosing the shorter style. I really like the linen shirt option for petites too. Thanks for watching. 🥰
I’m wearing linen trousers, a tank, and a silk shirt over it for my grocery run, it gets chilly inside, but my car boils in the sun. I was on my way, then saw your video, groceries can wait, a gal has her priorities!
Talbots. A girl after my own heart. I love Talbots. Summer is sure a time for cool style and I have lots of things to put together. I just need to follow your formula.
Going go try them all this week. Got 1 kimono and a few shirts ...no patterend skirs but long plain ones..so will modify the ideas. I also like soft large floaty scarves as cover ups ..like shawls. Plain and prints very inexpensive but can look very stylish . I have been dressing up outfits using these on holiday in evenings.Would love a video on this. Thanks for all you do.
Yay to natural fiber fabrics! I like highly-breathable viscose, too. I am finally purging the last of my polyester items. They kept passing the cull because they look pretty, but did I wear any of them? Not once.
Agree w the natural, breathable fabrics, BUT; there are some very cool manmade fabric pants out there, that feel like you have A.C. on your legs! Athleta’s Avenue Wide Leg Crop pants are truly cooling on hot days, if you no longer want to wear shorts... Look them up!😱😁👌🏻🙌🏻
What do you think of jumpsuits? I'm going to a family bbq this weekend and I have a navy blue jumpsuit with white polka dots. It has spaghetti straps and I was thinking about wearing a light white wrap around shirt to cover my arms.🤷🏼♀️
I like your summer style. Style formula #4 is my go to look. What color are the pants? They look tan, but don’t see that in the link. Thanks for your help.
🏵️ Kay: You're such a style inspiration! You always look so fresh, feminine & beautiful. Hard to pick a favorite outfit. 🥰 Adore your casual classic chic vibe. It speaks to my heart❤️! I consider myself another 👑queen of the topper. Love a light layer. In my 😎climate, an unbuttoned blouse, tunic type vest, or a light cardi covering can serve as my informal "blazer." 🤔Like your colorfully striped shirt that you paired w/the stunning red dress. It brings an informal dash of 💫pizzazz to that single "column of color." That's my ultimate desire to create that unbroken vertical line. 📸Thankfully, this is something you so successfully model here for us in a variety of versions.👏 As an hourglass⏳, I prefer to wear body skimming "under-shirts" in drapey jersey, knit or cotton fabrics to reduce the appearance of added weight around my waist. (I will vary proportion w/loose, flowing or baggier bottoms in shorts & cropped pants.) 😱Tighter or more tailored tops draw 👀attention to my slimmest section, but they can also highlight my more generous upper proportions. 🥼A topper tends to protect my modesty & sensibilities a bit. 🔘Unbuttoned, they allow a subtle peek-a-boo @ my curves beneath, so I don't feel so obvious🤪va-va-voom. 😉One of these days, I will experiment w/a kimono robe. 😖Feel equally self-conscious about skirts (& dresses) that skim my backside closely too, but know they're truly the most figure flattering. For casual activities, I tend to tie a light wrap or jumper about my waist when wearing a sheath dress, short pencil, or straighter maxi skirt. Also, while we bake in the🔥blistering hot dry heat🌡️in the Valley, anything South of the Santa Monica Mtn range 🌄 can cool considerably by the 🌊 coastal climate influences. Always good to be prepared for a 🌬️chill whenever venturing on the S/W side of LA. 👐Still need to keep hands-free for a parasol☂️ to block UV rays☀️. 😬Tend to be a minimalist about jewelry, color, & pattern〰️and I admire your subtle style statements. Gravitate more towards solids〰️ but I do enjoy some animal print, plaid, abstracts, stripes, geometric or polka dots. 🤫Very likely to choose a similarly pretty pink pencil skirt (or patterned palazzo pant) where the drama (aka busyness) is away from my face. 🤐Graphic T-Shirts are so frisky & fun💋, but any boxy shirt 👕 silhouette can pile on unwanted bulk around my middle. 📲 Just caught a clever 🪡no-sew hack by the vibrant Vantoee that allows you to turn one into a cropped top by gathering & knotting the excess material in the back. 🤗Can't wait to try her 🪄trick on my stockpile. 💚 Bridget from Cali ☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts Bridget. I love it all! Yes, I do a similar hack with the back of my tops by just doing a back tuck and then folding under the front. Such a great way to create pleasing proportions. 🥰
Wow..sure glad to hear and try all your tips...part of the fun here is to know we have contemporaries out there to communicate with and enjoy sharing what works for us!! Have the best day😊😊
I haven't been to Disneyland in years, but if I were going I would wear moisture-wicking clothes similar to the ones I shared in my blog post Monday. dressedformyday.com/come-hiking-with-me/
I love the color of the tank top that you called Ecru. It really looks good on you... I can see you better, I will look for that color for myself. I love that whole outfit! Kay, I have to wear a compression thigh high hose on my right leg for painful nerve damage and varicose veins, I can't get around for long without it, It's hard to hide it and stay cool in the summer. I don't wear sandals or any bottoms that go above my ankle to protect the expensive compression hose material and to hide it from being noticed ( as I feel it makes me look older). I envy your freedom to wear what you like and expose skin when you're hot!! You're so blessed! So what's your opinion on long, loose, flowing pants paired with some sort of tennis shoes for summer or what kind of closed footed shoe would look good in place of sandals ?
Absolutely!! Both are a great option. I don't like tunics for myself, but they're a great option for many women. I really need that button up feature, and I do think they are more slimming, since you can leave them open or tie them.
@@DressedforMyDaywithKayHarms I’m not sure about tunics either. Do you think they add bulk to your body? I’m really trying to weed out things from my closet and I value your opinion.
Your arms look great. Mine are awful, double arms, with a flabby, wrinkly one hanging below the bony one! At home I wear sleeveless, but I try to cover them in public. If it’s a matter of getting heatstroke, though, I will just wear my tank, but briefly, until I cool down.
I looked at all the shoe suggestions & not one has slim for those of us who have very narrow feet! Like the white long top… i always carry a jacket or something to put on inside as businesses seem to think everyone likes freezing temps.
I’m 52 and love my white denim jacket! I prefer it instead of the blue denim jacket if I am wearing blue denim jeans. I love a blue denim jacket with khakis.
Am 'collecting' camis. About 3 years back, started wearing a larger overshirt... don't do upper arms, either. When younger, seemed as if jeans was daily thing for me. Then 10 yrs or so, I came across capris. (Still have 2 pairs that I use for 'everyday' errand wear.) But when I want to 'dress' for appts & errands, the skirts come out cause they feel cooler. Basically I dress "Summer" year round as I live in FL.😎 Winter difference is an occasional jacket or sweater...& chance of scarves.
Hi Cynthia. Draw the focus up to your face. That’s where you want people’s attention anyhow. Wear some pretty earrings and a nice collar that works well for you. Wear a pretty color up top and a nice shade of lipstick. I’ve decided other people are much less focused on our “not favorite” parts than we are. 😉
Love your video and blog. However, this is the second time I’ve watched your video lately and saw a Democratic ad. I am offended by any political ad on a fashion sight, especially one done by a Christian. Is there a reason a political ad is being shown on your videos?
Kay doesn’t choose or put in the ads, RUclips does. You can get ad-free viewing with RUclips Premium for about $12/month, that’s what I do. From a Democrat.
Hi Dottie. I don’t have anything to do with the ads. I’ve seen that ad too when I’ve been watching videos. But those are paid for by the sponsors of the ads and have nothing to do with me.

Wonderful! Thanks so much for watching Dena. 💕
I like that you started without a necklace! I too felt this over the weekend. Time to lighten up.💟
Yes, I find that it's just too hot and muggy where I live for necklaces or jewelry in the summer.
Thanks for this…living in Australia, it’s all about summer all year around…Love the linen look…cheers to everyone watching this later….
Yes your right all items mentioned is definitely in our closet and I appreciate how you put them together.
Yay! Thank you!
Fantastic tips, Kay! And your makeup looks especially nice and natural in this video. I love the dress with the diagonal stripes!
Thank you Ginger. 🥰
Winter here in Western Australia but still loved the video. Summer is not that long away - okay 4 months.
Hahaha! Well thank you so much for watching. Enjoy those cooler temperatures! 😊
Your smile is absolutely stunning 🥰 let alone your laughter ☺️
You are so kind. Thank you!
The last two with the kimonos were especially appealing to me. I bought a really cool one last year...you just gave me a couple of new ideas.🙏🏾✌🏾
Wonderful! I love kimonos too. 🥰
Love all of these looks! I'm a girl who loves easy to put together!!💜
Great to hear. Thanks for sharing Tami. 😊
Thanks for your cheerful videos! The red dress is my favourite, it looks just perfect and easy to wear. 🦋
It is a good one. I love the slightly faded red of it.
Yes, I have them all! The one new combination that I like is the use of the swim suit cover up for the summer dresses. Thanks again for sharing.
What a great idea!! Ty
Nice looks. I really like the red dress with the long blouse top.
I try to take a pic of items that go together & put in my style journal for reference.
Awesome ideas. At my age I really want to look modern and classy. And that is why I like your channel so much! Have a great day Kay!
Thanks so much Pam. I’m glad what I’m doing here is resonating with you. 🥰
