Thanks for re-doing the video with more instructions. Although there is one part that still wasn’t clear I had to rewind it 5x to figure it out. It’s where you join and slip stitch half of the flower. Anyhoo, it all worked out and my first attempt looks amazing! I made it for a co-workers daughter she loves sunflowers. Thanks again and keep on making videos! Happy 2023! 🎉

Note: I divided round 3 (the petals into 2 sections in my head, rounds 3-4)
    End of round 1: 2:47
    End of round 2: 3:47
    End of round 3: 13:13
    End of round 4: 16:20
This is for reference if I forget how to end rounds and all that.

Thank you for your kind words! I'm delighted that you enjoyed it. I've now turned the sunflowers into a lovely runner. To see how I did it, check out the step-by-step tutorial at ruclips.net/video/DMLsBCDBP0I/видео.html
To make a granny square, my tip is to begin by crocheting the circle first. Then, crochet the granny square using the back loops of the circle. After finishing the square, switch to the front loops of the circle to crochet the Sunflower petals. I hope these instructions are clear and helpful to you.

Thank you for the tutorial. You mentioned that we can just add another brown round if we want to make the coaster bigger. However, then I get 54 stitches in the third row (adding 18 stitches to the previous 36 according to the standard increase scheme). The problem is that the multiples for the last brown row seem to be 4 - for the first yellow row you crochet into 2 stitches, skip 2, then repeat. Am I correct about the multiples? If so, it won't work with 54 stitches. Maybe start with 16 double crochets instead of 18 then? Then I would get 48 stiches in the third row and 12 petals for the sunflower.

    • @WeavedIn
      @WeavedIn  Год назад +1

You are welcome. Yes you are right... the petals are worked in multiples of 4. Therefore, you should have 48 stitches at the end of round 3 to make 12 petals. How you get the 48 stitches depends on how you work the rounds. I would start with 17 stitches on round 1 then 32 stitches on round 2 and 48 stitches on round 3.

    • @Ottilia_Lind
      @Ottilia_Lind Год назад

@@WeavedIn Many thanks for confirming. I have actually just noticed that the bigger coaster you show at the end of the video has nine petals. So for that one you must have started with 12/13, then 24, then 36. I will probably go with that one - larger than the small one but not too big.

I want to start with the 2 crochet rounds first. Then make the first layer of 3 petals. I hope it is clear to understand. As you made the sunflower petals after making the inner rounds in brown yarn. Similar to that but less stitches. As sunfliwer is big in size compared to Rose. Thanks

@@WeavedIn thanks. The only thing that i dont like is that the flat inner circle turns into a round like people comment that when they make a round coaster it changes shape once the stitches are increased. Bella Cocoa has discussed in this video how to space the increase in stitches in each round.

Hi Saba, l hope this finds you well. It's impossible to do three petals after first round of DC so instead l used 12 SC for first round then three Petals for 2nd round. It's curling but way better than first row with DC. I hope this makes sense. I'm happy to do a short tutorial to show you what l mean. Which colours are you using for the Irish Rose? Let me know and I'll see what l can do for you.

Yes you can use super fine, fine or light yarn weight .... depending on how small you want it.

Hello Paula. I need some help in keeping the central part of the flower flat. For example if i start with a magic circle and work 18 dc in the ring. Join with slip stitch. For the second round i work 1 DC in each st/chain. ( not 2 DC in each stitch/ chain)
Then i want to distribute the 18 stitches between 6 petals.
How many chains do i do to make a loop skipping 2 stiches. Then continuing with the same pattern make a total of 6 (2 chain space) loops.
Should each loop be koined with a SC or SL stitch please.
Then working in each loop to make a petal i sometimes do a slip stich then 1 SC 4 DC 1 SC Sl stitch and work the next petal.
For the next round i increase the chain loops by ( 7 chain ) loops.
Same wirking petals in each loop.
    Sl St . (1 SC 5 DC 1 SC ) sl st.
Similarly depending on number of rounds or layers.
My question is that i want the base looking at the back side to be in line with inner circle ( starting on 2nd round done after magic circle). The last round petal loops are not in line with circle ( looking from the back side) but it shows an arched sort of loop with petals worked in.
1st difficulty is that round 2 does not lay flat .it curves inwards.
As such the back side does not look flat and last round of perals are apart.
I have tried to explain. Sorry if it sounds ....
    Thanks Paula.

    • @WeavedIn
      @WeavedIn  2 года назад +1

Hello Saba, no it's impossible to have a flat circle that way. You have to crochet 2 DC in each stitch of round 2 for the circle to lay flat.

@@WeavedIn thanks Paula. I did 2 Dc and it was flat. I could not get the flat circle edge with 1 DC in each stich of 1st round inner magic circle.
As i was trying to limit the number of stitches to make few petals i tried different techniques.
Also i noticed about the yarn and hook size.
      Thanks
I look forward to your lovely rose pattern tutorial.

@@WeavedIn hi Paula. Sorry for long explanation. English is my second language. I hope the other things i asked were clear.
Now i am sure that 2 DC is needed. If i start petals after 1st initial round in MCircle it is fine. But the one i am making needs the loops to be connected with the second round of inner flat circle. After the 1st round of petals .the second round loops
Connect with the petals as well as the flat circle( DC). As there are 3 petals and i wanted 5 petals for second layer.
For third layer it is connecting the loops ( 6 loops for 6 petals) to the 2nd layer petals and the base circle.
I want the back view to be neat and just show the flat inner circle( 2 rounds in magic circle) and not the loops and working of petals done for third round petals.
Is there a rule in crocheting to make loops of a certain number of chains so that the sc dc or hdc stitches fit in well within the loop.
I found in my pattern that as i made the first round loop of 5 or 6 chains as the stitches had to be distributed for 3 petals. The chain loop was long.
Increasing one stitch in the next layer loop and again made it bit visible.
This is how i worked out. Would welcome any input from your expert skills.

Jotted this down, for anyone else who likes to have the pattern written down!
    .
    In Brown:
Row 1: Magic circle. ch3, dc 18 into center. sl to the top of 1st dc
Row 2: ch 3, Inc every stitch. Sl to join (or use tapestry needle and technique she showed!
--- should end up with 36 stitches.
--- just do another round of the circle if you'd like your flower to be bigger. (it would be 1dc, 1inc, repeated all around, for 54 st total))
    In Yellow:
Row 1: (Next part is a little intimidating to read, but is a pretty easy repeat tbh!!!)
--- Attach yellow into any stitch.
--- Ch 3, dc into same stitch, ch5, 2dc in next stitch, skip 2, then 2dc into next stitch, ch 5...
    --- in total, the repeat is [2dc. ch 5. 2dc. sk2. 2dc. ch5...]
--- finish row by sl into 3rd chain
    Row 2:
--- (no starting chains! just go straight into the following instructions!)
--- dc 5 into ch 5 space. ch 2. sl back into the top of your 5th dc. then do 5 more dc in the same ch 5 space. (so it's dc 5, ch 2, sl, dc5)
--- sc into next (small) space
--- repeat! ch 1 and fasten off to end
    .
hope this helps someone else keep track of what they're doing! wonderful tutorial, i just know i need to see it written down to keep track of where i am (especially if im on my 5th sunflower of the day lmao)
    have a lovely day! :)))
