I like to add finally ground cinnamon to my clay. It takes a minute or two to mix it really well, but the ornaments smell like gingerbread. It works with just about any spice, and it truly has a yummy smell too the ornament.
🙌🏻 I was thinking about this while watching Claire’s lovely video. Working with Aromatic oils, etccc, you can make ornamental pieces like these smell delicious!
I've used puffy paint many times to make gingerbread ornaments with my kids and we sprinkle Iridescent glitter on the puffy paint before it dries or put a layer of varnish over it or both, because when you put them up for the next year they will stick together
These are lovely. I always give mine a coat of mod podge before I use the paint pens, they draw on much easier. Then I finish with another coat of mod podge.
I use the same brand and the thicker it is the longer it takes to fully cure about 2 weeks and then they don't stick together. It does depend on the temperature in the room. Love your gingerbread houses. I will have to make some for next year's Christmas show.
Yes, the puffy paints do dry soft...like a soft rubber...they are always kind of sticky, tacky and will stick to themselves and other things. They won't rub off, but they will stay soft. We used to use it on clothing items...tee-shirts, jeans, jean jackets...and they always dried squishy, and slightly sticky. 😊
In my experience, even when puffy paint is "fully dry" it still takes a little longer in the thicker areas because the under or inner bit still has to dry if that makes sense. But even after that it will always have a somewhat rubbery texture to it, I think that is whatever ingredients make it "puffy". These look beautiful & so authentic! I love your work. Happy Holidays
Those houses Claire look fantastic and good enough to eat. I have the tulip puffy paint that puffs up with heat, though i didnt take it that far for the project i was doing. It did feel tacky to the touch for a while and i wasnt sure it was dry, but nothing happened to it. Looking forward to fridays cookie fest. Well done. X
Oh, these are *_adorable!!!_* 😍💕😊 SO well done, Claire! Yes! Puffy paint will still have a puffy feeling, even after completely curing/drying...whatever! But, after that, even if you dent it with a fingernail, it should spring back.
Hello, they look great! Yes, I had a job using puff paint to write messages on t-shirts for teddy bears per customers. What a job, huh, I loved it! Yes, they would take hours to dry, plus everything you have experienced. I'm sorry I would have thought that after all these years, they would have evolved.
I add cinnamon cardamom nutmeg and clove. To my clay. I adore these Claire!!! You could cut out the windows and use small pieces of plexy glass with uv resin or e6000 to glue them onto the back. 😊
Oh wow I’m super impressed with these!!! They turned out amazing!! I can’t believe how easy you made it look. I really must try these!! Have saved your video to my favs!! Well done lovely, they are gorgeous!!
They are lovely Claire! I would have added a tiny sprinkle of fine white iridescent glitter to the pitch paint before it dried. I love glittery things though xx
These are adorable. I tend to glaze mine with a glazing medium. I also do both sides of my ornaments just so if they turn you still get a cute ornament.
In my experience, puffy paints do remain somewhat soft. Fir that reason, many people use them to make non- slip dots on the bottoms of house slippers. 😊
Puffy paint stays soft. The problem with thick layers of puffy paint is, that the surface is long dried but the paint underneath is still not. Better let them dry for a lot longer, before stacking them. If you want to avoid that, use puff paint for fabric. It activates under heat. With that you can be sure its dry. It has a different look to it though ..
So cute and adorable homes made with the clay,Ms Claire, totally in love with these🤩🤩💜💜.And your penwork on these is too gorgeous, love the snow effects too🤩🤩❄️❄️🌨️
Absolutely love these! So adorable. You should try the “whipped”resin to decorate these gingerbread decorations.I saw on another channel a clear PU resin made by the same people who make the black PU resin. You should try it and see if it really is clear!
Hi Claire... I had commented on your past video with the purple alchemy tray for halloween. It has graphic inlay prints you recommended off a website however I have referenced back to the video and can't find it any longer. Can you point me in the right direction, also do they do custom graphic inlays
I really love this video. The houses are adorable. I was wondering if you dreamed up the designs yourself. Thanks for sharing you got ideas from the internet. ❤❤❤
I got my terracotta DAS from The Works at the same price as the ordinary white, just a couple of weeks ago. There was the stone colour, too, at the same price.
heyyyyyyy thank yoooo so much for subscribing :) means so much xx and yes yes I have bought them since :) xx I think the next two gingerbread videos I used the DAS from The works - although I don't remember for sure ha ha
Oh my days, toooooooo cute! Did you set it with your heat gun or something else? I haven’t used puffy paint, but everywhere I read talks about using a heat gun as it makes the paint puff! it swells or an iron not directly on the paint but just above it…. Can anyone confirm if this is right or not, I am a total novice with this paint….but I will definitely be having a go with it 😊
YES!! You can heat the puffy paint and it will puff up like marshmallows!!! I love it!! You need to be careful on these little houses though. If the designs are too close together it'll just look like blobs and not designs. 😊😊😊😊😊
Sorry I missed your premiere today, I was so busy yesterday with my dad’s last birthday party that I was just an emotional wreck. It’s only a matter of time before he passes away according to his doctors.😢
@@ClairesCraftyCorner Thank you for for letting me know. My son kept singing it over and over after hearing it, he says he likes that version. To be honest, I don't think I have heard of her❤️
Puffy paint almost ends up being kinda rubbery and since it’s so glossy they can definitely stick I don’t know if there’s a way to seal it off or take away that layer but I think it’s just a side effect of the medium and not that anything was done incorrectly!
thankyou so much xx a few people in my LIVE chat did say that I can heat it up with a heat gun to make it even more puffy - so maybe after this it would be more dry ? It is definitely something to trial and play with xx That is so helpful thank yooo xx

I've done this too. Smells amazing.
I've used puffy paint many times to make gingerbread ornaments with my kids and we sprinkle Iridescent glitter on the puffy paint before it dries or put a layer of varnish over it or both, because when you put them up for the next year they will stick together
Oh you could sprinkle ultra fine white glitter after you use the puffy paint. Would look like glistening snow... or sugar Sprinkles.
These are lovely. I always give mine a coat of mod podge before I use the paint pens, they draw on much easier. Then I finish with another coat of mod podge.
Ohhhhhh that's a genius idea thank yooooooo 🤩🤩🤩
You're very welcome x

You make this look so easy. I wonder if you were an art student at one time or just naturally perfect. I love these!
Thank yooo xx I was never an art student... but I did do Art at school back in the day - always been arty though 🤩 My Dad was an artist
Oh, these are *_adorable!!!_* 😍💕😊 SO well done, Claire!

Oh my daughter would love this idea❤she loves to play with or make nickynacks out of them. This is perfect for her to do.

Omg!! So awesome Claire... Love them. Now I need white puffy paint!! 😂
Yup, that’s normal.
I really love this video. The houses are adorable. I was wondering if you dreamed up the designs yourself. Thanks for sharing you got ideas from the internet. ❤❤❤
Ohhhh thank you 🤩🤩 yeh my brain doesn't work like that haaaa Google to the rescue x
Awesome! I've used it but on clothing or canvass sneakers and no problem drying. Perhaps it that the clay isn't as absorbing as fabric.
Again, I love these! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️🌟
These are absolutely adorable 🥰 🎄

Claire do you use a clear sealer after your through

I didnt use any heat ... I didnt know I could until I read it in my Live chat 🤩🤩
The puffy paint I have needs heating with a craft heat gun, I didn't see you doing this maybe it will be firmer if you heat it a bit.
Sorry I missed your premiere today, I was so busy yesterday with my dad’s last birthday party that I was just an emotional wreck. It’s only a matter of time before he passes away according to his doctors.😢
Beautiful! Do you put any kind of sealer on clay? Thank you! ❤️
Thank yoooo Kathy x you can seal clay yes .. but I don't bother xx it won't be needed on these
Puffy paint takes a few days to dry hard. And it still will have some give. Don't pick at it. It will come off. "Spongy texture" is what website says.
Love the gingerbread houses, they're so cute. Who is singing Jingle Bells? I recognise the voice, and it's bugging me ❤
oooo that is Jordan Sparks - she recorded a special album just for Epidemic Sound xxx
@@ClairesCraftyCorner Thank you for for letting me know. My son kept singing it over and over after hearing it, he says he likes that version. To be honest, I don't think I have heard of her❤️

Thank yoooo lovely xx the music is from Epidemic Sound which song did you watch to know about?
The first song by a male singer is the one I really liked. thanks for all the fun videos. @@ClairesCraftyCorner

QUESTION: Has anyone use sealer on top of puffy paint to seal and harden the paint?
As far as I know, puffy paint takes about 4-5 hours to dry ... maybe bit longer
They are all perfect but my favorites; from your last shot, are the two on the bottom and I would have a really hard time choosing between them. 🏚
Yes, that is normal with the puffy paint. It's meant to withstand the wash machine when used on clothing.
