- Locking Stitch in Mosaic Crochet Video Tutorial
The "the locking stitch" or "lock-stitch" locks flaps of single crochets rows in the back of an overlay mosaic crochet project and creates an almost mirror design in the back of the project.
The term "negative stitch" was first used by Spanish Clover Crochet.

Wow, those are beautiful squares!! THATs talent!!
Thank you so much!
Big game changer. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
Yes, it is! Glad you like it!
Fantastic video, like everytime, I really LOVE your channel!!!
Lisa (from Rome, Italy) 🤗
Thank you for making this video and taking the time to show why you chose this method over the other one. I'm left-handed, and your video was very easy for me to follow.
You are so welcome!
Could you please make a video for a flat piece (as opposed to round) of Mosaic Reversible, No-Flaps, Negative, Locked Stitch Crochet starting from the very beginning of the work, and show it very close up. I love that your stitches are longer, because of that additional single crochet stitch, to balance out the work. I'm certain many people would appreciate it very much. You are an excellent teacher. 😊
Great suggestion! I will try to do it ASAP!
Game changer!
I'm glad you find it helpful!
Genius! Fantastic idea !!!
Glad you like it!
Great idea and it does make the blanket almost completely reversible. Thank you!
Yes it does!

You're so welcome!

Muy bueno. Lindo. ..
Muchas gracias!
Desde Argentina, precioso tus trabajos. FELICITACIONES!!
!Muchas Gracias!
Muy maravilloso trabajo ❤❤❤❤
Muchas gracias!
love this method does it use more yarn this way....thanks
Yes, it does use a little more yarn, each locking stitch takes as much yarn as a regular DC stitch.
I love your video.will the locking stitch your way work on a mosaic blanket pattern.i do not like the gaps in the back.
I'm glad you like it!
Do you have a method for doing the dc stitches, as well? I've seen where that pulls the work dowm, as well. Thank you for sharing this!!
I'm glad you find it helpful! I am not sure what you mean by a method for doing DC stitches. Do you mean regular DC stitches?
@@craftingwithviovieux I mean so that the long fldc show as those on the back. Or, does that happen automatically with doing the stitches as you demonstrated?
I am trying your locking method in a center out pattern like the one in your video. But it’s a little wavy and doesn’t lay flat. Do you know why or will it correct itself as the pattern grows?
Yes, there will be increases in further rounds. You could also try and add one more stitch in the middle of rounds 5 or 6.
How much more yarn does this technique take?
I haven't measured :-)
Which color ombre are you using here? I'm not sure if my stores near me have it or if I'll have to order from somewhere else. Thank you for sharing these beautiful patterns with us!
This is True Blue Ombre by red Heart Super Saver, I deconstructed it into 6 colors and did color control.
@@craftingwithviovieux I saw Red Heart ombre in navy. I might try that. There's just something about the color blue for this kind of design that I love
Yes, this particular dye lot has sapphire hint in it, I loved it so much! I found only 3 skeins in Walmart and was hoping that it would be enough for al 12 snowflakes. In total I used 2.5 skeins of blue ombre and a little over 1 Jumbo in white color.
Прикольно, когда русские говорят на английском
I am not russian.
No video tutorial for at least one full snow flake design ,this is bad
