That stem/bar combo is far too big for that frame! Wicked video non the less Ali, you've been keeping me inspired to get out again after a good few years off, wanted to say cheers!
I disagree, I think it needs a longer stem (with a lower rise so my front end doesn’t get any higher). Going shorter would make jumping to front wheel even harder than they already are and a lower stem would make it worse when on both wheels. It’s common to run very tall bars tilted forwards these days so I don’t think that’s an issue
@@Ali_Clarkson I think the stem is too long, and the bar is tilted too much front (it sohould be in line with the stem), but as you mentioned the problem lies elsewhere. The reach is too big, and you tried to manage this problem with a longer stem, more tilted bar, and that simply doesn't work. Awesome riding though!

@@Ali_Clarkson Trials scene in the UK was always big. I think the only place that trials is even bigger is in Spain, maybe. Here in the US its really sad. This big country and almost no rider here. :(
lol it really depends on how heavy you are and different compounds are stiffer than others so lots of variables. Ideally you don't want too much pressure as you will lose a bit of spring to your hops but too much the other way and you will lose a bit of control and also get loads of pinch flats. I like to put the pressure so if I do my maximum gap jump to a sharp edge I would get a flat out of every 1 out of 10 tries or something like that :D
@@TNStrikeman nail on the head. There isn’t a one single pressure that people use, tyres make a HUGE difference...for example the Continental Der Kaiser has very stiff sidewalls so you can run lower pressure and not hit the rim (18-25 psi) but the Jitsie tyre has thinner walls so you’d need more pressure otherwise you’d hit the rim more often (22-30). Then there’s your own weight... if you’re heavy you need more support...different terrain might need different pressures and the same goes for different riding styles. The rule of thumb is you want a soft pressure where you get a nice bounce from the tyre and max grip but also hard enough to not get punctures and damage the rim... that’s for natural. For Street where you might be doing more spins you want a harder pressure so the tyre doesn’t roll off the rim, some like to go super hard (Danny Mac with his 50-60 psi) but I find fit me to go just hard enough that the tyre doesn’t fold but no harder, this is around 40psi depending on the tyre
I’d be able to get my weight further back but it would also stop me getting my weight forward so any moves where I jump to front wheel would be very hard!
@The Climbing Channel both has the same bb height, the weight was a huge factor, so was the rear tyre but also the bar and stem, I don’t think there was a single reason why I struggled, just lots of small ones that added up

Well, it may actually benefit your riding. If you get used to the extra weight and no rebound from the tires, when you go back to your other bike, you will feel like superman. Might be a good way to push thru to the next level.
So two things: 1. Despite your best efforts drilling it out, it didn’t break/fold - good, surely🤣 2. And there was me thinking I’m useless - turns out it’s my bike’s the problem 🤣🤣🤣
After all the years I've been trying and watching videos, I still cannot figure how you manage to get so much rebound out of the rear tyre. I ride on 40psi and the tyre does not squash as much with me as it seems to with you when I through my weight into the pedals. I know there's a way because I've done it by fluke. The lift isn't just higher but more weightless; you don't use you arms until your in the air and the landings are softer.
But with that setup even I'd struggle with that bike and I love the adamant 😂 Didn't you run an atomz +30/45 BB once upon a time? I'm sure you didn't have that setup of bar and stem on that, probably a 120*15 trialtech stem or something with barely any rise on the bars.. considering that that BB isn't much higher at +55, you have massive rise on the bars id say 130*25 or even less.. you're running two separate generations of parts.. bar/stem new gen combo to frame which clearly wasn't designed for that back in 06..
Atomz was +30 and you’re right, I used a 120x17 stem with low risers (but tilted back so the rise was actually giving max height possible). I think this Adamant is +60mm so twice as high, it definitely needs a higher front end to compensate. I remember when I got an Echo Hifi when they came out, that had a +60mm bb and I used a fairly standard stem from my lower bb bike... it was awful! Bars felt like they were down by my knees so longer and higher is definitely a good shout. It’s funny that so many people are mentioning the bar and stem as I actually felt they are one of the few parts that felt half decent. Going lower would make it more modern (like Carthy), this stem is pretty fitting for the bike
I am no authority on bikeing but I would say that rideing that bike being its heavier will be a good thing for your skills. Once you go back to your light bike you will most likely have gained some height and everything will feel easier and smoother. just my opp.
@@Ali_Clarkson You just have to play to its advantages. Take it to the skatepark or dominate some spiny lines and quick transitions. It is the bike that made you famous after all.

I ride on 40psi and the tyre does not squash as much with me as it seems to with you when I through my weight into the pedals. I know there's a way because I've done it by fluke. The lift isn't just higher but more weightless; you don't use you arms until your in the air and the landings are softer.
Imagine how hard it'd be if you hadn't drilled out all that metal! Like, 90% harder!
LOL... I've had one bike like that.
Early Tanky Zhi with high bb
Traded for Kevin Liu's old dented Kenny Belaey Koxx Frame within a week.
That’s a good trade!
@@Ali_Clarkson He REALLY wanted to try higher bb at the time lol
What is the bike?
It’s an Adamant A2
But with that setup even I'd struggle with that bike and I love the adamant 😂 Didn't you run an atomz +30/45 BB once upon a time?
I didn't see this coming, I expected it to be like that atrocious pink pogo you used to have.
At 10:17 the bike sounds sad about not making the gap.
It was!
I am no authority on bikeing but I would say that rideing that bike being its heavier will be a good thing for your skills. Once you go back to your light bike you will most likely have gained some height and everything will feel easier and smoother. just my opp.
Love it! :)
Thanks Callum :)
@@Ali_Clarkson 😊
Setup on the bike a carbon fork, handlebars and light details. I think that’s will be interesting 🧐
Do another vid on your Arcade. It's really time for one you know ;-)
Hmmmmm maaaaaaybe but I don’t really feel like riding it again, I’d not be as good on it as I am the Hex
@@Ali_Clarkson You just have to play to its advantages. Take it to the skatepark or dominate some spiny lines and quick transitions. It is the bike that made you famous after all.
i have never been this early. sick bike and vid!!🔥
Rapid comment
10:05 sounds like a coo coo clock...
Brilliant riding even though you were riding an oil tanker 😆
Ill have it if you don't like it 😁 don't have a 26 just a 20 so would be fun
Hmmm giving someone a bike I heavily modified? Sounds like a law suit in the making!
Naa would be my own fault for accepting it 🤣
I’m not a trials rider, just a watcher 👁 but you might have started out on a bit easier obstacle because as you acclimated to the bike you got more control. It’s clearly not your preferred bike but you overcame and defeated it. 🚲🏅🏆
thing is that riding in winter sucks anyway, the tires feel soooo different, it's like riding with sand in your tubes, everything feels off about riding in winter :( Just my 2 cents
Nice 👍
You should do a Walmart bike trials video.
I think an okay cheap bike could be the huffy scout.
I thought you were gonna ride it!!
I tried!
you should had your hex stand by for direct comparison. after you ride this bike do one thing then jump into your hex and do the same thing so we viewer can see how difference the effort is.
Good thing you have 12 other bikes you can switch to :D
Yep, and more to come :P
Try putting BMX handlebars on your trials bike and see what happens!
U awesome I have never been this early
Ali Magic 🤟 🚴
In the introduction, there's a sign behind your head that says "no fly tipping." What the hell is that? Is it cow tipping, but with flies?
It's when you dump rubbish in public instead of taking it to the dump.
@@devononair what he said
Oh! Wow, I would never have guessed that. In the US we call it littering, maybe because it's a bit like anthropogenic leaf litter. Thanks!
Is this the bike that we need to guess in instagram?...i'm sorry if that's long time ago...i can't remember
It is! BUT like I said in that post, the frame wasn’t the interesting part...I still need to make a video about what I was teasing
Just cycle round stuff not over.
