You're spot on with this. I shake my head sometimes when I post a picture I am proud of for a piece of equipment I buy etc and all you see is people coming on your post trashing your equipment. I am 100% with you. You have to use what you can afford and what works best for you within the budget you have. And at the end of the day those of us in this outdoor world should be lifting each other up and high fiving each other not tearing down and discouraging others. I appreciate what you guys do and the message you speak. Keep on keepin on!
This was one that needed to be put out there. Fun, thats what is missing. Yes, weve learned alot over the years & trial and error has helped pass the out come of what works to include helping one determine what is right for themselves. So in closing loved it and say hello to all thanks for a nice vedio.
I definitely agree a 100%. Found this Chanel just yesterday and i like it !! Friends i am from Bavaria/ Germany and then you're all thinking you have a lot Laws and restrictions, then be may guest and make you're self at home and come to Europe, especially Germany its a mass.....! An on Top of all that are coming all the Specialists and Bloggers, all paid by the Industry, they tell us all what we need to being successful in Hunting etc... just Do that works for you and use all your sins and be a hunter. Sorry for my language , best wishes and Waidmannsheil to ya all !!!
I lost my Uncle Mark this year to Covid. I learned everything I know about hunting/archery from him and my dad. He said you don’t pick one spot on a deer you pick one hair on a deer 🦌 and that’s your spot. Thank you for being a beacon of light 💡 for the hunting/shooting and out 2nd amendment rights. Keep on keepin on brother. I met you in Clair Michigan when you did realtree road trips and I loved that show and the Brotherhood you have.
Very sorry for your loss. I also lost my 56 year old father in 2021 due to him taking the jab. He died 1 day later. My dad was my hero, my only friend besides my wife and my savior. I miss him every day and I curse our government and doctors for telling so many lies in the last 2 years.
They was correct about that aim for a hair, I learned in the infantry when you aim small you miss small, yea you may not get that particular hair but your more likely to get very very close to it.
There needs to be a lot more of this positive attitude/mindset preached out there in the world of hunting these days. I’ve been bow hunting for 30 years, and just like you Michael, I certainly have my opinion of what kind of setups I think perform best, I absolutely refuse to tell anyone else that the setup they like sucks. There’s way too much of that BS out there already. When I get asked what I think about a setup I gladly share it, but my end goal is always to encourage the youngins or less experienced. I appreciate that same thing about you Mr Waddell!
Agreed, my local bow shop (the only one around) those guys are snobs. They turn their nose up at you EVEN THOUGH you’re paying them for their services…… Amazing! Actually turns people away from archery.
Great video Michael! Never apologize for what you know works. Our younger guys just coming in to the sport get so caught up in the latest and greatest just because that’s all someone is pumping and they just don’t know. I’m so glad I had people like Chuck Adams, Noel Feather, Ben Rogers Lee, Joe Drake, Joe Kelly to learn from. Don’t apologize to anyone for trying to help our new young hunters coming in to the sport.
I have to admit I got away from the outdoor channel and bone collector because I felt it was nothing more than selling product and slapping a bone collector sticker on anything and everything and I was burnt out with it. However, this video has brought me back full circle. This is what I’ve been waiting for, the work that goes into it all, the planning, the preparation along with the actual hunts. Awesome content, awesome video! Thanks for being real!
The nut behind the trigger is the biggest issue in nearly every bad shot. Hunting is fun! I been watching your videos since the VHS days and the 2 wheel drive extended cab Nissan truck got stuck in the mud hole. Thanks!
I love this video! I’m 38 years old and have been watching you on TV for most of my life. I want to congratulate you. You may not see it or even know it yet, but you are already a legend in the hunting industry. Michael, you’re name does and will always go hand in hand with hunting and the outdoors. Rite next to Chuck and Eichler and all the greats that you mentioned. Thanks for the pep talk and have a great hunting season!!!
Love the content brother! We hunt near booger bottom I think off of tax rd. between Manchester and Woodland. I hope to talk with you face to face one day. Also hunt with a friend who is the landowner in Meriwether Co. not far from Ned Yost’s property off of Winter Rd. I’m using a crossbow first time this year after shooting a compound since 1988. Heading to Schuler Co. Illinois this November. I’m 56 now and have a limited right shoulder rotator. Hence the change. I still have my old compound and will keep using it but have primarily switched to a crossbow. I rifle and muzzleloader hunt too. I also sing and play harmonica so if you ever need a player lemme know. Great video!
Bro, I watched you on tv when you first came on the air. I truly have a WAY more respect for you. I really like the fact you can speak freely and when “way you talk”, without the bullish!t. This is the best advice any hunter can get, I will say it’s even better then one Uncle Ted said “if if cost $5.00 and you shoot great don’t buy more expensive when that $5.00 one works”. I’m sending this to my nephew. Thank you
Very refreshing. I watched this video because I saw FOC but then I got to listen to you talk about a lot more and it was very refreshing. Thank you guys for all you do.
Love this video. Absolute real one!!! I did shoot a mature doe this year. 35 yards, vector customs HMR arrow 250 spine. 100 grain insert outsert system, 175 grain iron will wide fixed head. 14% FOC. Paper tuned and flying straight. 725 grain total arrow weight. I go real heavy because I will rarely see a shot over 40 yards here in New York. Heavier arrows quiet the bow down and forces it to shoot smoother. Hoyt ventum 33 70lb. Quartering away shot. Blasted through two ribs and then blasted through a shoulder bone, passed through and hit the dirt! Was insane. That head cut through the shoulder bone with surgical precision. The bone was cut so precisely that the bone itself was so sharp it cut one of my fletch in half. Maybe I was just lucky but I’m confident I could get through a shoulder bone 90% of the time. I also love the experimenting thing so when a ton of people told me I was “crazy” for shooting so heavy I was just more driven to go heavier lol. Absolutely love this video and your position on setups. Going to build a 600 grain arrow in the next couple weeks and shoot a little lighter and faster next season. So far I love fixed heads but that may change who knows. Gotta experiment. Thank god for the 1C doe management program they just keep sending me tags! My freezer and many friends are blessed!
I've followed you since the very early days of you association with Real Tree. You definitely know you're stuff. You are a major influence in my hunting life bro.
Probably one of the best truthful statements out there. I have experimented with many different broadheads and arrows. I have found my best set up that works for me. I have even given away what didn't work for me to buddies because it worked for them. Keep up the awesome content brother. I have been watching you guys for years. You guys are my favorite hunting group out there.
Amen brother. I catch a lot of flack for using a crossbow, but what most people don't know is that I developed target panic really bad like 10 years ago with a compound. So now I shoot recurves instinctive, and also use crossbows. I literally cannot ethically shoot a compound at animals. If anyone's ever had target panic, then they'd understand
Give 200 bucks to Joel Turner, have a lot of work and determination on your part and TP will slowly become a bad memory. Nothing wrong with the crossbow.
Thank you for telling the truth. I’m new to hunting, shooting a Hoyt of course lol but it can be discouraging when all these hunters tell you the 125 buck you got isn’t good enough. It’s about the fun and passion for this, that’s what I love. Thanks for the truthfulness and passion/love you have for your fellow hunter. Would love to meet y’all! I’m in north Ga!!!
It’s good enough brother! Hunt the way you want, enjoy, be a great advocate for our renewable resources, and respect the outdoors. You’re a valuable part of the brotherhood and we’re happy you’re a Bone Collector 💪🏽💪🏽
I dont often comment on these videos... but I was fortunate enough to meet you this past weekend at Wellsville,Pa. You signed me and my uncle's old Hoyt bows. It was great to meet you and awesome to hear a pro talk about the difference between new and old. I thank you for that. There was never any issues about today vs yesterday... I'm still learning every day and appreciate all the education you're delivering all the time. Thank you Sir!
I watched you guys 20 plus years ago and loved the ole Bone Collector content, I noticed you and T-bone on You Tube recently and have been enjoying seeing you guys again. This video really resonated with me and I love the message you and T-Bone are getting out!! thanks for covering this!
I love this attitude. Coveted tag and setting up for success! Great attitude. I live in Utah and I’m glad you touched on how far the “ average shots” are in the west. Thanks a Ton .
Thanks Michael for a few minutes of down to earth common sense on RUclips, especially with all the archery videos floating around. Any new bow Hunter would be lost as hell when trying to figure out what to use now a days if they looked for advice on RUclips, I know because that was me 2yrs ago after 8yrs away from bowhunting. One thing i know for sure is of all these know it all’s up here, as far as a hunting situation you would know more than any of them as far as what works.
Also, unfortunately, I am guilty of being critical of others when it’s actually none of my damn business how they do or live their lives. This video has been an eye opener for me.
This is what the sport of hunting needs. Real as it gets. Subscribed right off the bat. No brand endorsements just real life. As a very passionate bow hunter ive always loved the tv episodes of you guys. Stumbled upon this RUclips and it’s golden, love it more so than the tv because it’s as real as it gets. You talk about Fred bear and all those guys you look up to but you have a lot of guys that will be throwing your name in that hat right along with those other guys. Keep up the good work hand. 💪🏻
I agree. My dad first took me deer hunting when I was 10 years old. I am 70 years old now and have slowed down a bit but I still try to get out there during deer season. I have always been a rifle and shotgun hunter, although I have bow hunted when I was younger. I enjoyed it. I have shot just about everything in North America that is legal to hunt and good to eat. I agree that you should do what you enjoy and what is legal , be it bow, rifle, shotgun, whatever works for you. I still use my Remington chambered in.308 that I bought used in the '70s and I still use the K-Bar knife that I carried in Vietnam as my hunting knife. I suppose the haters will tell me that they are old and out of date, like me. B.S. Too many armchair experts out there trying to tell people that their way is the best way and the equipment that they use is the best. It makes me laugh. Great video. Keep up the good work and I wish you luck on your future hunts. Sorry for the long winded post.
Waddell, I’m late to the video but I grew up watching you on RTRT. My dad, two brothers, and I all had matching hats from it we wore everywhere. He’s gone now. Those are very fond memories. You helped create my deep love for hunting. Thank you. Please keep it up as long as possible.
Man I wish we could get more of this from the icons of the hunting industry! We need this kind of access from Will Primos, Waddell and so on. We need the originals to not just make shows but show us who they are and let the world know it’s ok to hunt your way.
This was awesome!!! Even though l’m laid up with horrible sciatica on the couch. I laughed out loud. Great presentation, the only thing missing was a mic drop at the end. You definitely got your message across. We’re the same age, I remember watching your stuff from my dorm room at Central Michigan back in the 90’s. It was great seeing you in this stripped down non-sponsored, speak your behind, real talk. Over the years you’ve consistently dropped great knowledge. Excellent video as always. Good luck this season. Cheers to “Happy gut piles”.
I have watched you when you couldn't grow chin hair, twenty years later we both are wearing grey beards. Mine is total you got aways to go,😄👍 respect to you Michael. To old to get out there but through you I'm still twanging that bow. Luv ya MIKE. T ONE RESPECT TO YOU ALSO
I grew up in Columbus Georgia watching Bill Jordan and later watching you. I picked up my first bow in 1995. Today I still primarily hut with a bow. I've made more mistakes than most but have killed a lot of deer too. I don't have any trophys hanging on my wall yet but I'm still plugging away trying to learn and improve. Thank you for all the years of enjoyment and learning. Keep doing what you do and bringing us along for the adventure.
I just gotta say…. I love this . And what you say about not planning to hit shoulder cannot be emphasized enough. Too many veteran hunters out there teaching new hunters bad morals in hunting as far as what is your effective range . What shot is acceptable. Top of the heart . Perfect broadside. The further away from that scenario you get its gets exponentially harder to git the target. Also, know the animal behavior… when to draw , when to shoot. Dont let your equipment get lonely in the closet. Shoot year round. Compete somewhere …. Its fun and it’ll make you better.
“Professor’s Of Very Little Everything Very Little”!! I started out just shooting 3-D target on a budget !! I upgraded to hunting with a bow at 20 years old and that’s late in my opinion!! But knowing what I know about bows and 3-D shooting period was transferred to hunting and finding out what works !! I found my set up hunted with it for years and still get crap from guys who 1 only hunt weekends and have never shot a compound bow …..yes I get pissed off but I know what works for me and the ones that give me crap I’m glad they have something they love to do even though they have very little to no experience in it !! In the end I do me….. so you do you !! Thank y’all for what you do ……stay safe and God Bless Y’all!!
Waddy all the negative comments are from haters who are jealous of the level of success you have reached. Keep doing what your doing buddy, proud of y’all at bone collector.
Keep up the good work. I live for hunting and fishing . When I cannot go I am watching videos on hunt and fishing . 40 years of hunting and still learning. You all are awesome and I know the passion that you are talking about .
I really appreciate this. I've been hunting for 35 years, dozens and dozens of deer and bears. I love the rage hypodermic but I hear from lots of young hunters how rage is garbage, funny, every deer I've shot one at has died within 50 yards.
Waddy, what you said is so true. I love how down to earth all of you at bone collector are. I’ve been watching you all for many years and love all the content that you have put out. Good luck this season and keep putting um in the back of the Chevy.
Omg I'm one of your biggest fans!!! I bet I've seen every episode of the bone collector I've learned soooo much from watching you and T-bone!!! You guys are the best. Just two good ol country boys who love to hunt.
Glad you are now on RUclips since not having the outdoor channel for awhile I missed watching your show met you guys at the hunting expo here in Florida a few years back and you guys were really down to earth great video keep them coming
“Everybody that I’ve looked up to has given me the opportunity to refine what I like the most”...well said Michael. I’ve applied parts of what the guy down on the ranch subscribes to...particularly cut-on-contact heads because it makes sense with my setup. But I’m not a full disciple of the million-grain arrow build. The reality is my 10 year old son took his first archery doe last year with a 28# bow, 25” 600 spine arrow, 100 grain old school Muzzy 3-blade, 15 yards quartered away shot out of a tree stand...she went 40 yards and dropped. Even found broken a rib during the “autopsy”. So, maybe we’re overthinking far too often? Same goes for fishing. I can’t recall how many times we’ve used a strategy that’s totally counter to what the experts and conditions usually call for...yet we have a great day anyway. Pick your weapon, dial it in and go hunt! Good luck to all this season!
@@wcoutsiden863 Thunderheads and aluminum? That’s the archery equivalent of monofilament fishing line...you can’t use those with any success. I bet they love you at the pro shop (sarcasm font needed).
@@joehouchensii1433 hahahahah very true. Well i need to be more clear, that was 30’ish years ago, my brother ran the pro shop lol now i shoot gold tip arrows and rage broadheads, i still have a lot of the old arrows and broadheads it did take a while to talk my dad into the lighter carbon arrows he never did make the switch to expandable broad heads, still shoots a razorback 125! He said when they stop killing Arkansas deer he wouod swtich, hes hard headed too hes made several comments on the blood trails a rage makes and the holes They leave.
Best video I’ve seen on a while. I don’t have sponsors and a budget to go with the popular set up. I use a bow that is a decade old. Replaced the string 4 yrs ago. I use hand me down arrows with cheap broad heads. I put meat on the table because I know my limits and I practice.
Problem is most guys aren't from the good old days, when you couldn't buy a pre tuned bow. Waddy said it best when he said "student of archery" back in the day you had to shoot all year and experiment to find a good set up. I remember when aluminum Easton's were almost a half inch diameter and we used overdraws to lighten our arrows up. You have to experiment for what's best for you.
That's the thing...nobody needed to lighten up their arrows. We were sold that idea by the industry types. People keep trying to reinvent bowhunting. Who needs all this junk to hit an animals vitals at 20 yards? At 30 or 40 yards? People are missing out by stretching out their shots. Nothing is more exciting than a bear at 9 steps.
First off, I am a big fan been watching the brotherhood for a long time. I agree that alot of what's out there will work as far as arrows and broadheads and I agree that it's a balance of what's important to you (accuracy and wind drift or penetration and bone breaks). However I do have some disagreements that I hope you'll look into. While yes the guys shooting hogs at 20 yards are using 800 grain arrows, it's for their situation. There are also guys hunting public land @thehunting public. That have found a balance in the 550-650 grain area that is a great balance of bone breaking (including that front leg bone because they literally sheared a mature bucks humorous in half last season) and distance. My current setup is 580 grains on a 65lb Ventum and I can get 90 yards on my sight tape. I can't help but wish as a consumer that instead of being fired up about the wave that is coming, maybe you should be thinking about contributing to it (ie. Designing a single bevel G5 or the world's first expanding broadhead over 125 grains) I agree shot placement is key but hunters are unfortunately human and bad shots happen. I'd rather have the confidence to bust hard stuff if I torque my bow 5 inches left on the biggest deer of my life or even a fat doe because I still get excited of those too. Love ya Waddy.
Love it! Have been watching waddy since moster bucks viii! Have shot everything from muzzy, grimm reaper, rage, shwaker, ect, ect, light arrows and have leaned to the heavier side, but guess what its all shot placement! They all kill genuine pigs! And whatever else gets lung butter on them! Thanks for all the great years waddy!
Glad to see ya telling them how it is. When I reloaded for my custom barreled varmint rifles, I had guys telling me, that bull it won’t stabilize in the twist barrel. Then when I show them a wadded hole group, it’s crickets. No more talk of what I can and cannot do. I am sure you hear more of the bull than me since I am not the POPULAR guy like you, but gad to hear you let them have it and straighten them out.
This is the best content I've heard on this subject ever... I'm so glad you told it like it is Brother Waddy... More people need to be like you, your as real as they come.. Good luck this fall and as you say HAVE SOME DAMN FUN DOING IT. You only live once.... Best of luck to the BONE COLLECTER CREW 🦌🦌🦌🦃🦃💯💯🦃🦌👍
This was the video I needed to see. Got a dozen arrows to build, an everyone and their brother is trying to tell me what my setup needs to be. I’m just going to build it my way, and tinker with it on my Guinea pigs to make it the best for me. Thanks Michael
I just started getting serious about archery and now bow hunting and am I glad I found your channel and shows. Boy you guys are something else, funny as hell and knowledgeable as well. Keep on keepin on guys. Love it
Preach on brother Michael !!! It’s all about going out to hunt and have fun with it. Like you said “Do what works best for you “ I have bow hunted for a long time and watching you or Tbone I learn something new all the time !!! Have a great season and be safe
Thank you Michael very well said! I met you at the 2020 Minnesota Deer & Turkey classic. I hope you and the Bone Collector crew are able to come back in 2022.
Aaron from THP was shooting a single bevel cutthroat and the arrow hit a limb, deflected and hit the head of the humorous and it split it in two and buried in the off shoulder. Plan B worked out. Like you said, wouldn’t happen with a mechanical.
I have a hard time trusting anything else that comes from a person who says they think a certain mechanical is the best broadhead ever made. I’m surprised they put tbones 10 ring bucks that Michael ended up shooting later and Michael’s arrow bouncing off that bucks ribs on tv. Props to em for that. Makes for bad advertisement for g5 mechanicals tho lol
@@ArcherDelux got to do something when all of the quality heads like cutthroat, tuff head etc are all sold out and the ol flappers aren’t selling anymore. 😂
I don't like supporting Communist China which is where all these mechanicals are also made. I'll stick with American made fixed blade high carbon heat treated steel.
Im sorry I can only "like" this video one time. I am thankful I found this channel awhile ago and grateful you do what you do. You are appreciated Waddy! Thanks for everything Man! Best wishes for this season and many, many more to come for you and all the Bone Collector Crew! Ill be following along
I've been shooting heavy arrows for years (500-650gn), but I always tell people "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". If you have been killing deer with a 400gn arrow consistently, don't change a thing.
I think maybe there might have been a misunderstanding. Maybe I'm wrong, I haven't watched every hunting video on RUclips, but I don't recall anyone saying there's only one way. I absolutely agree that there are many ways to complete the task. I absolutely believe there is typically a most efficient way to complete the task as well. You mentioned higher foc has greater potential for penetration. You also mention you shoot higher foc because it has greater potential for precious. Why not use your platform to encourage bow hunters to be as lethal as they possibly can? The optics of higher recovery/ kill rate is good for the longevity of the sport and your livelihood. The more lethal we are the better it is for all of us.
The Fairy put out a new video today showing how cheap broadhead hold up. I have shot many fixed blade broadhead that were totally destroyed despite a complete passthrough
@@kelvin0689 I feel works and worked are two totally different things. That low quality broadhead screwed into a flimsy shaft worked but it's not what's likely to work over the broadest range of circumstances. A whitetail rib shouldn't cause an arrow to deflect and it certainly shouldn't stop the arrow yet we see it all the time. When asked about the arrow system they more often than not refuse to answer and attack you for asking or go full defensive mode to as to not anger their sponsors.
Hey Michael, when I got started in bow hunting back about 20 years ago I watched a whole lot of your videos. Your enthusiasm and knowledge and love for hunting is inspiring. Keep up the good work. What got you so fired up for this video. All I can say is you are the man. I have decided to start trying to hunt turkey. I have been watching some of your videos on the subject. Take it easy my friend.
I have GREAT Respect for Mr Michael Waddle. A Hard working good man. I am surprised at his level of upset in this video. I didn’t realize until the end how old this video is. I am old and recall the beginnings of compound bows. My first compound was a Browning explorer , wood riser and metal cables XX75 aluminum arrows. The razorback broadhead was AWESOME as was the Bear 2 blade and the Zwicky. Mr Waddle is right everything can work. We are fortunate today to have all the quality choices we do today. In our gear choice , like our political choices we sometime have little tolerance for those whom chose differently. Years ago we blissfully didn’t know this happening the way we do today.
Thomas Sowell, one of my favorite economists and an extremely brilliant man, says there are no fixes to dynamic problems but only tradeoffs to various actions you take. The archery public would do well to adopt this concept and instead of always looking for a panacea, understand the tradeoffs and build the setup that you find best fits your situation.
Great point. Everything is so polarized these days and unfortunately it has crept into the hunting world. I can’t stand people bashing heavy arrows or bashing light arrows. We are all bow hunters so let’s unify around that and understand that we should be building an arrow to suit the hunt and game we are after. Hunting elk at potentially longer ranges? Maybe you want a lighter set up. Hunting hogs or deer over a bait pile at 20 yards? Sure, shoot a 700 grain arrow. Like you said there are trade offs to both and you have to find the balance that best fits your needs.
Michael I been watching you guys since Monster Bucks Series on VHS in the 90's. It's such a great feeling to see quality open opinions on hunting. Thanks for this great video, keep up the great commentary.
Amen. I constantly hear know it alls telling us we're wrong for using a set up different from theirs. I use what works for me. Thank you for your honesty and keep on doing what you do. I know a lot of people that pay attention and learn from you.
Amen brother. Do what works best for you and don’t let other’s opinions affect you. May God continue to bless you and give you all a great season this year👍
Y'all needed to do this. The RUclips community really has been hurting Bone Collector and other sponsored hunters and companies like G5 and Rage because of the negativity they are pushing with their biast views and agendas. Like, "you're not a man if you shoot a light arrow and a mechanic broadhead." (You know who I'm talking about.... Ranch fairy (Clears throat)). People! Do what makes you happy! Don't let people tell you how you can or cannot do something!
You tubers aren’t hurting mainstream with negativity. They are hurting mainstream with videos dedicated to proving why they use what they use through field tests. Mainstream doesn’t give you that. At least they didn’t 2 years ago when I still watched mainstream. They just give you highlights of hunts with equipment that’s sponsored. Mainstream sponsored products obviously work. Nothing wrong with them. But if you want detailed trials of all the best products head to head to know what is the best of the best for your situation, there’s a RUclips video somewhere for it.
I’m an Excalibur crossbow guy. 308 short and mag 340. I love these bows so much and don’t care who likes that I use a crossbow. I love crossbow hunting. Had my best year ever last year and harvested 3 deer wich is all my area in Arkansas allows. Great video bone collector.
This guy is right on the money. I have a 500g arrow going 290fps according to "the experts" I need to upgrade to "adult arrows" meanwhile my arrow is 10" into the dirt on the other side of the deer.
“2 words” the man. Certain people in this industry have got some really big heads over the past couple years and my hair stands up on the back of my neck when some of them laugh. and if your not shooting what they do or go by their practices, your shooting junk and what you know is wrong. People like that is what will lead to a fence between hunters, seems like everyone is arguing about this or that and has missed the whole point of gods great creation, you do you and I’ll do me and we will have fun together and won’t act like we are segregated. No need to apologize for anything, you have been there and done that. this world is coated with a dose of “my feelings hurt” but you tell it like it is and that’s how it should be. Massive respect to you Michael, met you at the nwtf Nashville quite a few years ago and it was like I was one of the guys….
I just stumbled across this video, didn’t know it existed. This video is the EXACT reason I idolized and patterned my hunting life after Michael growing up. To this day, I still shoot a Hoyt because of him after 25 years
You think FOC is something new? Chuck Adams was writing about FOC back in the late '80s. All of these RUclips "experts" are standing on the shoulders of archery legends and passing off information as their own.
Man I have much respect for you buddy.I have watched you for years. But when it comes to hunting weight arrows I feel lightweight and mechanical broadheads have no place in the woods a friend of mine and myself who are better-than-average shots lost 7 deer in one season because of Rage broadheads that did not deployed or opened in flight. I am a staunch proponent for heavier arrows and I don't mean 700 grains and cut on contact or at least a very Stout fixed blade. Personally I shoot around 520 - 550 grain and use only cut on contact and single bevel broadheads prepare for the worst expect the best . We never planned to shoot those heavy so-called impenetrable bones but s*** happens you know as well as I do and that is why I don't believe we should be using lightweight mechanical all that garbage . Even though deer are a thin-skinned you're going to wish you had that plan B Arrow. Leave those lightweight arrows on the 3D course. Brothers of the bow....mike
If it works for you than great. I shot more than 7 deer all with a 400 gr arrow and mechanical heads and never lost one as a matter of fact all were pass thoughts except one. All about shot selection and placement.
Waddy laying it on ya son. One of the last real ones out there!! Thanks bother!
💪🏽 Thanks for watching! We're not just making this stuff up. Happy hunting!

I love the way you southern boys deliver a message. By the way, I do remember watching you over 20 years ago.
Louder for those in the back! Thank you Waddell for speaking for the people who don't have your platform! A bone to pick!
I don’t care if it’s RUclips or outdoor channel I will always love listening to and watching Waddell and I agree with him
Great video Michael!
Happy to see an OG cut through all the BS. Bested most in all hunting situations and having fun as well. Still keeping it real. Blessings!!!
I love the brutal honesty!, we lack that these days
No kidding!
Thank you
I'm loving this. I never thought he would go on a rant like this and I love it!! This is the real talk!
Very refreshing. I watched this video because I saw FOC but then I got to listen to you talk about a lot more and it was very refreshing. Thank you guys for all you do.
Outstanding content , glad to see a good man speak from his heart.
Thanks for the support! Means a lot. Been blessed to have a platform, but just a good ol' boy keepin' it real. Happy hunting
Thank you brother.
Check out Joel Turner from Shot IQ. He has a lot of stuff in shot panic that will change everything!
I had target panic years ago and went to a back tension release and now use a hinge release and both took care of it.

Well said Waddy! I love hearing your passion and thank you for telling it like it is! Cant wait to see more content from you fellas!
Warnock!! Yeah buddy
Most impressive part of this entire video to me is that Michael did it all in one take….and kept my attention the entire time! What a communicator!!!!
"I enjoy a good blood trail, I love dishin out death" probably one of the best quotes I've heard 😂😂😂
Also, unfortunately, I am guilty of being critical of others when it’s actually none of my damn business how they do or live their lives. This video has been an eye opener for me.
we all are
This is what the sport of hunting needs.
“ I’ll stomp grasshoppers! “ Waddy 😂 . Love you Waddy
😅 Tell it like it is! We love this life.
I just gotta say…. I love this . And what you say about not planning to hit shoulder cannot be emphasized enough. Too many veteran hunters out there teaching new hunters bad morals in hunting as far as what is your effective range . What
shot is acceptable. Top
of the heart . Perfect
broadside. The further
away from that
scenario you get its
gets exponentially
harder to git the target. Also, know the animal behavior… when to draw , when to shoot. Dont let your equipment get lonely in the closet. Shoot year round. Compete somewhere …. Its fun and it’ll make you better.
I’m bow hunting for the first time this year… digging through all the bullshit online gets so confusing sometimes. Thanks for being honest!

Way to go to your son!!! I cant tell you how many deer i killed with a 40 pound bow with short, lite aluminum arrows pushing a thunder head 100.

He said when they stop killing Arkansas deer he wouod swtich, hes hard headed too hes made several comments on the blood trails a rage makes and the holes

AMEN!!! One of the best videos I’ve ever watched!!! Everything I hunt with I love and I don’t care what anyone else thinks cause it’s not theirs!!!
Don't let them get to you. I've been watching you on the outdoor channel since I was very young.
Best video I've seen in a very long time.
Rage has a 150 grain for x bow.
Very well said

Yep. That mechanical G5 wouldn’t have done that.
Yeah this guy sounded quite defensive for the whole video. No consideration for plan B.

I've been shooting heavy arrows for years (500-650gn), but I always tell people "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". If you have been killing deer with a 400gn arrow consistently, don't change a thing.
Sounds like the most honest personality in hunting. Great outlook and advice. Stay doing what your doing. Best of luck this season
@@ArcherDelux those cheap broadheads can end up costing more in the long run than a quality head.

I know for a fact your talking about that damn ranch fairy 😂😂 you spoke the truth waddy!!
WHOOO…THE INDUSTRY HAS BEEN TRIGGERED!!!!!!!

“No ones listening to what I’m tryin to sell them anymore!!” 😭😭😭

@@skeemask4933 since you know so much look back at their bow set ups since they been on RUclips.
Ohhhhh so that was a threat you just issued?
I just stumbled across this video, didn’t know it existed. This video is the EXACT reason I idolized and patterned my hunting life after Michael growing up. To this day, I still shoot a Hoyt because of him after 25 years
The Ranch Fairy has got all you guys doing videos on FOC now .
You think FOC is something new? Chuck Adams was writing about FOC back in the late '80s. All of these RUclips "experts" are standing on the shoulders of archery legends and passing off information as their own.
Hilarious
Man I just love that you haven't let fame blow up your head. Awesome seeing you and pops still making gut piles. God bless and good luck to yall!
Very humble fella. Keep it up man. The lord blessed us when he put you and Gerald swindle to represent us ole country boys who love the outdoors
