  • I partnered with Home Depot on a DIY small bathroom remodel. This bath renovation included how to install a shower surround with tile, installing a toilet, new vanity and lighting. The shower tile job uses a custom hexagon mosaic set in an acrylic surround. #bathroom #remodel #renovation

Looks nice. An option for around the shower walls instead of patching drywall is to use 5 1/4 inch pvc trim. Shim out the studs, rip the pvc and cut to length. Attach it with brads and use good quality caulk. It's faster and will never mold or mildew.

Thank you for this efficient and quick video to show us what's what. I don't plan to do this myself but I do like the idea of the shower surround to not only keep the shower clean for those of us who dislike trying to keep tile grout pristine. But I also like that the surround is a cost saver.

Good job!! I learned from re doing my own that it’s best to go ahead and replace the drywall all the way up to the ceiling. You can caulk the gap where the new drywall meets the ceiling. Drywall is cheap, it’s easier to finish, and the board doesn’t visually look angled where it meets the surround.

Hummmm, if I was going to go through all the expense and labor of replacing the entire tub and surround, I would have tiled the whole thing. Taking out a white plastic wall to put in a white plastic wall seems like too much expense and labor not to get much bang for your buck and hard work.

I renovated my entire house. I learned as I went along. When I started I asked advice and watched videos. If I wasn't happy with something I'd rip it off and start again. Eight years later I'm proficient at everything including stained glass windows. My only negative point is that I'm slower than a qualified tradesman but on the good side, I don't cut corners to save time and money: I take my time and do a good job.
My advise to anyone before setting off - buy good tools and materials.

Since the tub walk kit flex’s because studs are way farther then should be, won’t that be a disaster if someone pushes and leans into walls while in tub/shower since the one piece walls where mixed with real marble mosaic causing them to potentially pop and crack. Recipe for disaster in my opinion🤔🤔🤔

Without experience, you'd need some guidance to avoid costly mistakes. However, this is totally feasible to do over a weekend.

I thought the same EXACT thing, but I'd be too afraid to try!

      Get a plumber

No, but plumbing requires a lot of research and tile a lot of careful skill. I wouldn't suggest a beginner start with an entire tub tiling. Maybe just do a tilesplash first.

I liked the accent tile in she shower BEFORE the grout. It just made it look weird. Everything else I loved though! Good job!

Came looking for a simple solution to redoing my bathroom. Left realising it’s a profession for a reason. I guess I’m hiring people to do my bathroom then.

I most likely built and handled that bathtub you installed in the bathroom. They are made in Lapeer Michigan!
