Being nearly 64! I am a soft spot for vocalists across the spectrum. Michael McDonald, Christopher Cross, Stephen Bishop, Richard Marx etc, but Paul is right at the top of my list. Great range and too many brilliant songs to mention, sadly Paul died far too young not long after I had seen him at Manchester Apollo with M and M's. Beautiful lyrics with this song! Wow. RIP Sir Paul x
From the day I first heard Every Day Hurts by Paul and Sad Cafe I knew he had a terrific voice and could really sing. So glad Mike and the Mechanics and Paul had so many hits and tours. R.I.P.
Saw Sad Cafe in the late 70’s. They were an amazing live band but Paul Young led from the front. Excellent frontman and a great vocal range. Very underrated band. Minus Paul they are still touring.
They always seemed to have amazing lead singers: Paul Carrack, Andrew Roachford, and of course, Paul Young. I find myself listening to them now more than ever.
Beautifully chosen song highlighting what a wonderful vocalist Paul Young was. Still missed 20 years after his death , but he left behind some great music for us to remember him by, including Chronicles which again has some wonderful songs on it. Well done with your tribute..enjoyed by a life long Sad Cafe fan.🥰
Thank you so much, Phillip. Yes, I still listen to his wonderful music everyday (including songs from "Chronicles" which I purchased not long ago). Take care, Tracy 😊

@@tracystevens6134 Great tribute. I wonder what he would have made of today's events going on. He didn't even get to see 9/11. Sorry if it sounds macabre, but I do wonder what some people who are no longer around would make of things that happened after they'd passed on. His words on "Word of Mouth" have shown to be ageless given what's been happening since.

I saw Mick + the mechanics at the symphony hall birmingham . They were brilliant , I must add I was a Sad Cafe fan . I was at the front and singing away when Paul sang and he looked at me several times. I was so lucky at the end of the concert Paul was just standing at the front of the stage , I looked up at him and said ..Paul and offered my hand to shake his , he looked down at me and he did not hesitate and shock my hand . what a moment for me, as he was my favourite singer from the early days of Sad Cafe to present day .Then not really that long after that concert , he pass away. Without a doubt he was an unbelievable talent , he could play a multitude of instruments, sing and dance only Paul could dance. I listen to your songs and watch your videos much love RIP.

[From the CD single "Stop Baby, pt II", 1991]
I didn't get it, not at all
When to run or when to crawl
Consistency, that's not my game
A whisper, then a shout
My youthfulness, I sense today
Forever may have fell away
Reluctantly, I have to say
It's time we talked things out
Cos I think I've got the message
I can hear you loud and clear
You don't have to spell it out for me, my dear
You don't have to paint a picture
Or whisper in my ear
Cos I think I've got the message, loud and clear
I don't know what gets into me
Makes me act so foolishly
The steady hand, once in control
Been missing, here of late
I know it's been a bumpy ride
So up and down, from side to side
I'll get my head out of the clouds
And try to see things straight
Cos I think I've got the message
I can hear you loud and clear
You don't have to spell it out for me, my dear
You don't have to paint a picture
Or whisper in my ear
Cos I think I've got the message, loud and clear
You don't have to paint no picture
Or whisper in my ear
I think I've got the message loud and clear
Yes, I think I've got the message
Loud and clear
