Just started using Reaper after unintentionally graduating from Avid ProTools. I can honestly say that while I've been a devout loyal user to ProTools, AVID is what AVID is and I've had enough of their _________! Reaper has been on my radar for a few months but having decided to pull the trigger and learn, I am shocked and disappointed in myself for not giving this DAW a chance sooner. I produce and engineer Metal music, sound for film, and do Scoring for games... I can do all three on Reaper even better than with ProTools. This Video has helped me teach myself the important editing tools and has helped to make the learning curve that much more effective. Thank you So much and Cheers.
I almost didn't watch this thinking that I'd already know what you were covering, but I ALWAYS learn something from these videos. Thank you!
My pleasure, glad there were some tips you found helpful in there for you :0)
If only all RUclips tutorials were as easy to watch as ReaperTV.
I love this DAW
Thank you so much! I've been a protools user for years and am just discovering how much better Reaper is; thank you for your help, it's much appreciated. :)
Thank you I’m new to reaper and even though Kenny video are great they miss the in-depth perspective you bring.
OMG this single video solved multiple dilemmas I had just yesterday working on a new song... dilemmas due to my own ignorance on how to do things in Reaper, that is. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
tony93666 good to hear the vid has helped out 👍
Concise, to the point, no BS. Thank you!
No problem at all :)
I'm new to Reaper using it for and a newbie at voice over. Thank you This is sooo helpful
Incredibly helpful as an overwhelmed noob starting out. Thanks man!
Dillon Westerfield it can definitely be overwhelming to work with but stick with it, it certainly gets a lot easier the more you use it.. 👍
GReat ! I just learned what I've been looking for . I used to record in Reaper and edit in Audacity. but now it's just so handy ! THanks , I just watched a minute of the video !
Great tutorial - though I'm not sure that distorted metal guitar was the best choice of example audio... When you did the overlapping and the cutover, I basically heard no difference... Still just a highly distorted guitar sound.. :)
ja, i tought so. Still great tutorial, but perhaps it would be better with vocal wave. But still, nice info. Thanks.
Yep, wonderful tutorial! Thank you! But that audio example SUCKS. Not a matter of taste, rather the guitar is soooo distorted as you may as well be using radio static. Clean guitar or pretty vocal would have been much better, and more informative.
brilliant thank you - cleared up my stumbling efforts to figure it out.
Always very helpful videos; disregard the negative comments... Most of us love them and appreciate you giving up your time and knowledge. Thanks.
thanks for the nice tutorial! i am totally new to reaper and this helped me so much. almost no questions left for now :)
Thank you for this video! I’m new to Reaper and you’ve helped me a lot. Cheers!
Thank you 🤘this is exactly what I need it to split and delete a section and the make boths section as nothing is missing🤘
The options change with the theme layout.... default 4 has the option. This is a great channel cheers!
I had many 'aha' moments. Thanks ReaperTV for the very helpful tutorial
Glad to help :0)
Because of your great, well thought out and thorough tutorials, I decided to buy Reaper :)
Know almost all of this, but it's real nice to learn something new from these videos. Keep going, thanks
Thank you for this awesome video. I learned a lot. ☺
Very good ! thank you. Subscribed. Happy Reaper user here.
Very clearly explained, and very useful. Many thanks.
as someone who has been using protools for years, this is taking a lot of getting used to.
Thank you, it's been driving me nuts trying to figure out how to edit ONLY 1 track at a time.
same
Ima download it thanks for sharing!!
Fantastic teacher. Thank you :)
Great video. Found the exact issue that I was looking for and you covered it brilliantly!!!
I would like to add "Ctrl+D"
Duplicates the audio track and puts it right after the original one
Same for Cubase
wow man, thanks
i really needed this lmao thanks
Thank you so much. Need those fundamentals.
it worked! thank you so much!!
Great tutorial!
This is great, thank you!
that was so helpful , thanks a lot
Thank you. This helped me a lot ! God bless you
GREAT video! I'm new to REAPER and decided to re-record an old song to learn how to use it. I watched a few things to get started and, now that I've screwed up my practice session (no biggie since I was only using it as a learning tool), I'm revisiting these videos and I'm learning how to fix things to make my real sessions much more efficient and effective. Very helpful!
Learnt a lot from this video, thanks !
Really helpful!
This is absolutely brilliant ! Thank you.
Thank you very much!
It takes a fellow Welshman to get this to all make sense!
Great explanations and demos, thanks for doing this.
Wow great video you are a great teacher thanks very much.
Excellent , thanks!
Useful thanks.
you did a great job
Reaper would be the amazing underdog if they came out with a console..
excellent tutorial, thank you so much. a big fan of your content, cheers
My pleasure and thanks :0)
Jesus! I feel like you can do literally anything in Reaper but so far I only know how to copy, paste, and split items 😂
Thanks for making this!
Great tutorial, thanks. What theme is this?
great tips, thanks for sharing
Great tutorial. A question: how to split audio at zero crossing point?
Awesome.
Thankyou. Very helpful.
Nice tutorial. What theme are you using to get this dark background?
Thanks. It's Default Commala 👍
The fade in/out function doesn't seem to work on my MIDI items...yes, visibly I can see the tool making a fade on the item, but there is no audible difference. Do I need to convert MIDI items to audio files first in order for the fade function to work? Thank you!
The options change with the different layout themes!!
Great video! How did you make the mixer window on the bottom small? I can never resize it horizontally while docked. Thanks!
I guess this applies as well to orchestral music production.
I am not the best guitarist, so the best way for me, is to play small sections and then stitch them together. I use cross fades to improve the sound. After that this process, if I want to glue the sections together, will the cross fades stay in place? If not, what is the best way to achieve combined sections of guitar with the cross fades in place. Many thanks.
Could you perhaps explain me how you got these extra buttons on the top left? The first seems to be Ctrl + X but I have no clue what the others are.
Dose this video still have relevancy in
2/1/2020?
Yes to us who locked down
@@jamesmhango2619 I have been trying to get a VST to work on reaper while using my MIDI.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling (Both midi and reaper) no luck and I've tried downgrading my ready to a lesser version and no luck.
Any tips? All the tutorials are not providing answers.
(This one help a bit with the lingo of reaper)
Thank you.
Very helpfull vid
Informative, thanks
Thank You!!!
Laurence Bellinger no problem at all 👍
How about copying tracks 12, 14 ,17, 4, and 6 and pasting at an exact point without making a total mess?
VERY helpful. thank you :-)
Cool!
tripple like! beautiful thank u :))
Thank you very much :0)
ReaperTV it's like a magic act. gives me the chills. as I'm learning from scratch, this is pure magic. I'm practicing these tricks and pushing pause as I go along! works so well !,, thanks again!
tosha lazarus my pleasure 🤘
Great tutorial. I was able to reconstruct all of it except some of the keystrokes don't work for me. I've noticed the same "phenomenom" while watching Reaper Tutorials from other users. I am using version 4.78, the last of Reaper 4. I have also installed SWS, but it doesn't do what all the videos are showing either.
A lot of this functionality was introduced in reaper 5
thank you brother.
How do you transpose audio in Reaper? I have some songs that need to be transposed in steps, i.e. 1/2 step, whole step, etc.
Is there a way to easily access the original track without clicking undo?
Great video thanks ! How do I move the audio track by default set frames ? Like in Pro Tools with + and - keys. And how does one connect tracks 'glued' them together with no overlap ?
Thanks
Good video
Love reaper
Have been using if for five years.
However I always seem to have phasing issues on it :(
Especially on superior drummer 2
Recording on reaper I get a tone down of what I'm trying to record when listening back. I'm not sure what is wrong
HI ..... MY AIM IS TO PLAY MY HARMONICA WITH MY MIC, WITH SOUNDBLASTER EXTERNAL SOUND CART AND TO USE A PROGRAM TO CHANGE THE SOUND INTO SAX OR DIFF VST INSTRUMENTS. IS REAPER WHAT I REALLY NEED? AND IS IT POSSIBLE TO EXTEND WITH 3RD PARTY PLUGINS VIRTUAL INSTRUMENTS? AM TALKING ABOUT WINDOWS ENVIRONMENT
Great tips as always, I do have one question, I often cut out sections of a track that I don't want, and then manually join the track back together by moving the left side to fill the gap. Is there away to automate this so when I cut a piece from a track it moves the left hand side down to get rid of the gap. hope you know what I mean. Cheers
Have a look at Ripple Editing in Reaper - This should help out :0)
ruclips.net/video/GFSJEt3VOic/видео.html
Thank you, that is exactly what I am after
I have a question for anyone that knows please replay.. when I am tracking guitar say a solo and the first part of it was perfect. how do I start recording the same track with out it doing this stacking thing it dose? I want to record over a already recorded track to do touch ups, make it cleaner.
I'm a little confused about using the alt key to make the timing change. It is specifically mentioned to be useful for adjusting the timing for voice over recordings, but when I use this I find that it changes the pitch of the recording. Is there a way to adjust the timing without changing the pitch?
I like it
So all these buttons i see are not on my copy of Reaper?? are they presets you made???
Can I edit an audio file with the free version?
FANTASTISH ! ! ! :)
I am trying out Reaper, I come from the SONAR platform, which is dead by now. What I found in Reaper, is overdubbing aduio, into the saem track ! Even protools and cubase can NOT do this ! I could not believe that !:) but, now, when I want ot mark a part of a clip, I am used to do that, simply and easy with mouseclick and directly into the clip, and then jsut for inst. delete . Do I have to , In Reason, to go / scroll up to the timeselection, on top of the timeline, to mark a clip ?
You have used reafir for the voiceover, Right?😂👀
how can i make perfect acustic guitar sample?
Hello!!!!!!😊
Hello dude.. can you help me ? I have a problem with my daw reaper ... my play button is gone.. (like a play , stop, pause, record) Which is right above the mixer.. how do i come back ? I'm so confuse.. thanks dude
i have a problem: I just downloaded reaper v6.13 and wanted to install a new js plugin. It doesn't detect it when i go to the ,,scan for new plugins option,, so I figured I might have it installed in the wrong path. So I wanted to click on the audio device thing in the top right corner. But everytime I do this, it changes to ,,audio device closed,, and no.matter what I do, it keeps happening. Also, when I try to access the settings in a different way, by pressing options>preferences, nothing opens or happens and the device either stays closed or closes if it hadnt been closed allready...I've tried everything. reinstalling reaper, rebooting my windows pc (windows 10), checking my usb connections from my interface and so on... the weird thing is, is that my interface is recognized via the pc, meaning i can run youtube audio from the pc to the interface tommy monitors but at the same time, reaper says the device is closed.... any suggestions? I also have reinstalled the drivers for my 18i20 Focusrite, but it still doesn work
Great Video thank you....can we buy that Theme you used?
No need to buy it, it's completely free. Just search for Default Commala :0)
ReaperTV Thank you So much Sir
I have question are still to ask?
how can i level the recorded waves, like one is smaller than the other and i wana level as best as i can, so one bit doesnt seem quieter than the other or louder.
All I want to do is delete one snare hit. This is my 9th video so far. I want to take one note out of my song and have NO idea how to do it. EVERY other DAW you highlight a click delete. NOT this one. HELP!!! I thought this would be a simple task!
Great tips as usual. I do have a question about a past tutorial, though. If you can cast your mind back to your "Build Your Own Home Studio For Free" part 1 video, you gave a link for the Mercurial Cab download. I have never had success with that plugin. I was using a pretty weak laptop before so I put it down to that, but I have recently bought a reasonably good computer just to do my audio and to do Reaper justice. The problem is the same, though. The other download links that you gave for MT Drummer, for instance, etc work fine as do the amps. Mercurial cab doesn't seem to work. When I add it to the FX chain I lose all sound from the track. If I uncheck the Mercurial box in the FX chain the play returns. It is probably down to something simple that I haven't done. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
Hey Johnno, ReaperTV seens to missed and responded to me haha
ReaperTV8 minutos atrásHey Johnno, have you also downloaded the EIR pack that is a separate download and pointed Mercuriall Cab 3 to the IR location on your computer?

RUclips can be a bit finicky when it wants to be and totally messes up my replies.. lol
Thanks for reorganising the comment though ;0)
No, I hadn't done that. I will have a look for it. Thanks for the help. And @Giovannii, thanks for passing on the info.
Loaded the EIR pack and problem solved. Thanks for the help and for always getting back to me. :-)
Thank you!
I'm using the reaper program for free right now & I saved a file on it but it won't open & play outside of Reaper
How can I fix this?
If you saved the clip as a reaper project you will have to render it. Otherwise you can't open it in a normal audio player.
For the speed increase/decrease, it sounds like Reaper is stretching or compacting the passage without affecting pitch. Can you confirm thats the case?
I tried it on my more musical track and yes, changes tempo but not pitch.
