That's the magic of Will Ferrell, and it's sad so many don't see it. Meta is a word we use to encompass all the things. When it comes to Mr. Farrell's delivery, the term "meta" seems almost perfunctory. What is sad is there are people in this world who don't understand his comedic genius and insist on dissing him. Shame on you!!

This has to be a movie.
So this is a Will Ferrell performance where he's playing Ron Burgandy pretending to be out of touch and rusty while doing stand up for the first time while he himself is the opposite. This is like the Inception of stand up comedy.
Will Ferrell is NOT a stand up. He's sketch comedic actor. and pretty fucking arrogant to think this is worth t.v. time.

Robert Richardson , Anchorman the movie worked because there were foils to play off of. When you take the character in isolation, it's just dull.

The Andy Kaufmann vibe was the first thing I thought after watching only two minutes of this. And i only saw the man on the Moon Movie and after that a few RUclips Videos just to see the real one.
Even before the video started I thought this was going to be Andy Kaufmannesque. He nailed it.

This was a lot of fun, Will's performance was spot on with a slightly awkward and out of touch, but still comfortable, slightly arrogant and smooth Burgundy, well, smooth in the way the character is with that slight derpy nature.
However, while the whole routine was fun with some good laughs from me, I especially liked the last joke, scoring a nice smile from me at the end of this routine and encouraging a few claps of warm applause.

I get it, I understood what was happening after the first 30secs. That doesn't make it any less painful to watch. And not in a cringy-funny Office kind of way, but in a "this isn't funny" kind of way.
