I love this info about the rhyme scheme, but Colbert doesn't even touch on the content.
In '92 the classic album The Chronic by Dre dropped and it was right in the middle of the Bull's 3peat.
Plus the album is Acid Rap and he says "Chance on acid now, crusin' on that LSD" which is means acid but is also a reference to Lake Shore Drive
Phillip Monk And what's so special about this content? Why would he even talk about that? It add nothing to the subject and it doesn't have any meaning in the context of what he's talking about. It's not particularly clever or special either.

I admire his intellect, but I adore his immense empathy and kindness. Watch any interview with him when he's not in "entertainment modus" and the sincerity, insight and kindness radiating from him is so heartwarming. I think since he experienced so much grief and pain as a child, he is very sensitive to other people's pain. What a lovely man!

Holy shit this is awesome
There is an excellent series of books about how Tolkien wrote The Silmarillion and LoTR. It's the History of Middle Earth. Tons of obscure writings and drafts compiled by JRR's son, Christopher. Also there is an amazing podcast by The Tolkien Professor that covers all that material. Everything Colbert said is covered in these podcasts. Did you know that Strider was originally a hobbit with wooden feet named Trotter and that Frodo was to be called Bingo!?
