Have a safe new year's guys!
...and a safe and Happy New Years to you and your family Stealth - thank you for the great vids!
The AI on planes are really annoying, the micro management needed on that is crazy. They really have to fix that, could've been prevented really
Feels like Jane’s Fleet Command all over again
some of the weapons on planes are radar guided, so they cant use them if the planes are kept on emcom
The Sea Wolf is incredibly difficult to use, at least the conventional launched one. You need to micro the ship and order it to fire missiles just as planes enter range. That coastal battery is weirdly accurate sometimes, when I was testing it would miss most of the time, hitting it with Mavericks is the fastest way to engage it as you discovered, but Sea Skuas can also shoot at it, a capability the game doesn't tell you about (real Sea Skuas are directed by the helicopter's radar, so any radar target can in theory be engaged, these ones have their own because that was much easier, but the end effect is the same.)
remember folks , no matter how bad you are at this game at least you are not working on USS Gettysburg
That costal battery had the range to hit London
I've been watching yours and Wolfpack's videos on Sea Power, and I cannot describe how worthless the AIM-7 is. I haven't seen either of you manage a first-shot Sparrow kill on anything smaller than a Tu-95 in a good while.
Must be that famous balance over realism
Glad it's not just me then
I've mentioned this a lot in other groups. It's suppose to maintain independent targeting after it disconnects from the planes on-board targeting, but it only ever goes for the flares. That would absolutely happen in real life a lot of the time, but not EVERY time considering it's radar and not heat seeking
@@sobri1998 Sparrows are semi-active. You're thinking of the Phoenix or (the not in game) AMRAAM. None of which would be going for flares.
Though, I agree, the kill rate is far below IRL.
It might be related to firing them while your aircraft doing the firing without the radars on, which is presumably somewhat detrimental to the performance of a semi-active radar homing missile
I'm likin' the Miraguars.
Is it just me or do the "Jags" look suspiciously like Mirage F1?
Love to see the spanish airforce in this game, gives representation 🇪🇸
💪🇪🇦
Stealth, for all that is holy, please pay attention to your aircraft radar and weapons status. The air micro in this game is hard enough already, but you're making it difficult for yourself by having multiple planes essentially dummy firing and disengaging after a single shot because you leave them on "Weapons Hold" and "EMCOM". It also helps to disband you CAP groups. Something about being in a group creates weird behavior when telling them to seek their own targets. Keep in mind when you give an order (attack/move) they will automatically go back to Weapons Hold. So you gotta remember to tell them Weapons Free after you tell them to engage a target.
15:45 Seawolf kill. I said Seawolf kill! Seawolf!!! .... Seawolf you're useless.
On another note, there's something charming I find about the Type 21 Frigates, or is the right word cute? Idk, they're like feisty little kids with Exocets.
Perhaps a suggestion for later additions to the game, imagine if you could tow a ship in distress to get her out of harms ways, just like this case
Needs to be more precautionary stand off distance when the threats are unknown. Your systems were offline by the time the MiGs showed up because they were slapped around by the coastal battery. Always great content though boss. Your videos are an instant click when they come up.
15:26 you only tell the f4 to send one missile that missed if they are weapons tight they will just ignore the enemy unless they are being targeted by air to air.
To get around this I give them the order to attack then set them as weapons free for the follow up shot unless I really want to micro
The problem with this technique is that if you have more than one aerial engagement they tend to just fly away instead of engage lol. still needs work. my subjection to the devs is have the do follow up shots after missing untill they are out of missiles
Gotta love british naval AA missile range😂
I get why Munro didn't provide a Type 42 in this scenario as a Sea Dart capable platform would have greatly helped the air defence portion, but he probably wanted a more serious CAP over the naval assets which Stealth forgot to do (his F4 were all weapons hold and EMCON on air search radars)
Your F4s need to have their radars on when using sparrows… over the last two videos, you’ve consistently failed to turn on those aircraft radars, which hampers the aircraft.
I'm curious why you didn't launch Prowlers first to jam all those radars, and also why you didn't turn Cumberland 180 and have her run at flank speed as soon as she started getting hit?
11:22 Foreshadowing the Chep Lap Kok airport? 🛫🌊
Thanks for the content Stealth, really enjoy your Sea Power videos. Perhaps you could do another campaign in the future? There are a few on Workshop that are actually good. Pacific Meltdown, Never Fade Away, etc.
Definely. This is a campaign. Have any other recommendations?
@@Stealth17Gaming Exactly, that is why I praised the video and encouraged more campaign content in the future :) Pacific Meltdown and Never Fade Away I just finished, both are good. I am working on the Janes missions now, they also seem well done. The Sum of All Fears mission duo is also good, a sort of 2 mission campaign with multiple objectives in the missions that evolve with triggers. I will add another comment with additional recommendations in the future.
I wish they would standardize on miles. The data on systems is in miles, but the map indicates kilometers.
Cant wait till the AI airplanes get fixed. Alot of missions that have failed would have been dubbs if you didnt have to micro manage. That being said i still look forward to every upload .
I agree, I want to play this game every day, there is lots of workshop content, but with the states of the game now you realize that it has a long way to go, and how missions SHOULD play out and be balanced...otherwise game mechanics get in the way. I still love this game though and look forward to every update.
You should pull back your ships out of range of the coast, then launch a radar plane, a couple (3) jammer planes, put one in the west over your ships, lioter one over your airfield, and use the third at your discretion. Then launch either air to air load out, all of them stacking weapons free with active air search every altitude you can, either circling your base, or in a loose v starting from northwest to south to northeast. Or launch half your seed flight's, and just start knocking out all the radar for your air to air to have superiority. Again, stacking them every attitude you can. In the v formation.
Know it's a lot of work in the short amount of time you have, but it's better than focusing on managing one theatre over another, and just letting your ships sail to their doom, cause the AI is deciding to actually be accurate.
That Strela gives me Jesus vibes🤣
I think you made a lot of mistakes here.
I would have pulled Cumberland from the coast after getting smacked by a single 130mm round. There was 0 reason why she had to stay that close to shore and given you lacked intel on enemy gun positions, so why loiter in their gun range when you can't shoot back?
All CAP F4 Phantoms would have been Weapons Free with air search radars on the second they got on station. That's the reason why they didn't engage the Chinese MiGs even when they got close, even with their shitty AIM-7E the much more reliable AIM-9J would have been effective with their bomb strike loadouts.
I felt you spent WAY too long fumbling the Jaguars with the SEAD mission since you gotten way too close to the SA-3 missile sites and had to micromanage them individually.
Hopefully you can redo this one in a more successful manner.
Is it possible to wild weasel in Sea Power?
Happy 2025
Is this game compatible with apple on steam??
