The reason your torpedoes keep running aft of their targets is that the chronometer gives the speed in knots, while your game is set to display and input kilometres per hour. To fix this you either need to convert the chronometer's reading to kph (multiply by 1.8), or set your game to knots

11:35 you should try getting a bit more distance - happened to me a bit as well - generally i’ve found the longer the distance the more reliable the torpedos are on exploding. Also if you research the better torpedos they will trigger way more often.
IIRC G-series torpedoes usually have a minimum range of 300 meters, some have more some have less depending on settings and angle, as a ship cutting towards you can hook into that range and dud out your torpedo. Also, duds are more likely at bad angles - 90 degree shots at 500-1000m usually have the best odds of swimming and detonating as intended.
College you might be using steam torpedoes (T1s) instead of electric (T2s, T3s, etc). Though there is good reason to use steam torpedoes, they are very noticeable on the surface and ships will see them well before they hit; this makes them quite bad at sinking small military ships, as they are super maneuverable, and makes a convoy go into alert sooner. The T2 may not be as great a torpedo as the T1, but I find the advantage of stealth to be unparalleled, and for a quick rundown of the other torpedoes: -T3 is the absolute improvement of the T2, runs at 30kn and has a range of 5km -T5 is more of a side-grade of the T3 due to acoustic homing, runs at 24kn and has a range of 5.7km -the FAT variants are designed to serpentine around the target in case of a miss, they are more useful when attacking convoys -also please start using the magnetic pistols more, they allow you to successfully hit ships that are too angled. Just gotta set the depth of the torpedo to ~0.5m below the target's draft. That's all for this game :)

Going into Alexandria for every patrol mission and just doing a turkey shoot is the easiest way to finish the Med campaign. You can even surface between the docked ships to use your AA/Deck gun from point blank since there aren't any port defenses there

You can chose detonator on torpedos. When you're filing torpedo tubes with water over it you have two letters 'AZ'. When you click it letters will change and with letter detonator on torpedos. There are two detonators and both have different detonating angle. Game tells you what detonator to use in a little menu that's over part of GUI with torpedos. There you have a warning triangle if angle is bad for this detonator. However every one of them have some issues. The second one can detonate half-way to the target as it isn't magnetic but will detonate when touches something. Good luck with that info.
Torpedoes are a distant killer, thus it will arrive later then you’ve planned to hit. Best advise guestimate where your attacking like a tf2 soldier with a rocket launcher.

10:50 aa gun has bern nerved heavily against ships (still good if this transparent green is already there), but i‘d never remove the deck gun if its just for aerodynamic reasons

The reason you have so many duds is 1: you are always using impact pistols, which only work on angles close to 90°, you should use magnetics when at a higher/lower angle (better torpedo designs make impact pistols better at this). And 2: torpedoes need at least 300 meters to arm properly or they won't explode.
Taking subs to the med iver land was a thing. But they were a. Type IIs which are smaller and disassembled. I guess it would be technically possible to do the reverse?
The escort missions are bugged, if you started them and then send your crew out to rest for 20 days the mission will end with a victory without leaving the port lol

You have to heat the torpedos to reduce dud chance, they should go red when ready to use. Loader can maintain the torps to do that.
He addressed that in his last video. They reworked torpedo maintenance and now a check mark indicates a maintained torpedo.

Assigning crew (green bars) to the officer on the gun makes the crew use the two smaller guns on deck. Helps against air raids

If you are at a higher angle use MZ instead of AZ, since the AZ needs to hit the hull to detonate, but the MAGNET fuze doesnt so
