FYI just in case you need to know. 4 of those Potato cartons will fit in a quart mason jar. I use half of one of those jars to make for me and my husband and there's usually some leftovers to snack on later. Happy stacking!
I would be shocked if you didn’t get matches but now you’ve got me into that too lol. My partner asked me the other day if I have enough matches in my pile lol, no I do not!
I like to use the cherry or apple pie filling with egg roll wrappers and cook in the air fryer for 10 mins. Turn at 5 mins. Give a spray of oil when you start cooker.
The cherry preserves I like to buy them and then I’ll make bread pudding in the crockpot and I’ll put a can of the cherry on top of the batter and when it’s done, it is so good with cherries throughout the bread pudding …A must try 🍒
Be sure to check the label, that brand does have artificial coloring in it and uses high fructose corn syrup to sweeten it if you avoid those additives. Some people are senstive to the artifical ingredients and we have family members who are gluten sensitive so have to read all labels now. I had bought some, and then saw the ingredients so put it aside, bought some cherries and canned my own pie filling. I know that's not for everyone but do keep watching labels, they are sneaking in all sorts of ingredients not good for us.
@@RiceaRoni354 LOL...I did that as a little girl. When folks would mow their grass and it would fall over the curb and dry.......that was fantasy land for me. Then, like a light switch, I turned 12 and turned my matches and skateboard in for lipgloss.
My friend from the Philippines just made me macaroni and pineapple salad. It was very good! Ver finely chopped chicken, pineapple pieces and a creamy sauce.
Did it have diced red peppers, too? Back in the early 70s, I worked with some Filipino nurses, and that sounds like a dish one would make. Except she used octopus 🐙 It was only after a couple of us kept begging her for the recipe that she told us! There was a small shop that it could be ordered from in our town, but I never did. I substituted shrimp 🍤
Who knew you could use a mop head for more than just mopping!? I never thought about substitute wicks! You always surprise me with stuff like this! Sheesh, I still don't know it all 😂
Over the years, I've found random preps in random places... I found matches, made in Mexico, which don't have wooden sticks. They are made with tightly twisted paper that is waxed with a hard wax & a typical match head. I figure that the whole match will make good tinder. I found them in a pack of 10 or 12 boxes, the same size as ordinary matches. I found small, single burner propane stoves at a hole-in-the-wall general store way off the beaten path. (Deep rural, literally the only store in a 20 or 30 mile radius ) At that same store, I found old school red kerosene lanterns. The best part was that none of them cost more than $5 each because they were 'new old stock', covered in dust, with hand written paper price tags that were attached with twine... Pre-Pandemic, I found LOTS of bargains on all sorts of hunting, fishing & camping gear. Once the weather got cold, the prices were slashed. Being an avid fisherman & camper, I snagged as many of those bargains as I could afford. I used to be able to find canning jars of all sizes for about 5 cents apiece at thrift stores & yard sales. Sometimes I would find a big box loaded with a bunch of jars for $1. Our local grocery store used to buy up the stock of stores that went out of business. (Dollar stores did that to rural stores, killing the competition...) They bought up the inventory of a local Radio Shack & sold it for pennies on the dollar. I got a bunch of small rechargeable battery banks & some fun electronic gadgets. Then they bought the inventory of a local general store that had been in business for about a century... I got big brand name shampoos & conditioners for 59 cents per bottle. I stocked up. Sadly, those types of bargains are a thing of the past now.
saw a video about dry beans, because they take long to soften I have been cooking and then dehydrating them, then vac seal in mason jars, will not take as long to cook or as much water needed, same for pasta, cook up dehydrate then vac seal, also buy bags of hash browns and dehydrate, cheaper than hungry jack
Went to a Dollar Tree last weekend. The food section was kind of low, lots of junk food but some other food items were not fully stocked. Some bottles and containers of things like sauces and condiments are getting smaller, so price comparing per ounce you can find better deals at your regular grocery store. The section that has hardware type items have no flashlights, never have had the headlamps. I used to the get the clamps they had in the hardware/automotive section to use in my garden, those haven't been in stock now for months. The store is now spreading out displays in very open areas to try to fill in, mostly with non essential items like autumn and Halloween decorations. We like lentils too and heard that the majority of lentils are grown in Canada, some were concerned that with their recent rail strike that some goods coming from Canada would be slowed down going to the US. Thanks for your reports, we probably all need to get what we do need before it gets more expensive or in short supply.
Hi Ginny... thx for these ideas. I do love the chicken a la king. I used to eat it as a kid over toast. Its good. I love the mop strings for the wick idea. Brilliant! I am trying to stock up again. We had to use some of my stock piles as everything is so expensive now. It helped us at a hard time. I need to get more beans and lentils. Pay day is coming up and I will stock up as much as I can. We have plenty of matches and lighters, stocking soups, tuna, chicken, salmon, and veggies in a can. Thanks for your ideas. I always learn something new from you. God bless.
Cherry pie filling on a spoon! Straight out of the can. Simple one ingredient recipe! I noticed in my local dollar tree that there are now pks of the 2 1/2 gal bags you love so much now contain 6 instead of 5! Hope you can run up on those. I love em too!
I love potato gnocchi from the dollar tree with mccormicks stroganoff sauce and half pound ground beef and sour cream. Kind of a more substantial boost over plain egg noodles
When i see them i like to buy the fuel cans i know they are not the best but they work and i dont feel guilty when i have to light 3 for my new camping stove
Thanks for the Chicken Ala king cans reminder I should buy a few more. It's a good base to add leftovers to, my hubby adds diced green chilies to he says "kick up the flavor" . Picking up a mop head. 97¢ large box matches and round topthpicks at Walmart. Bottom shelf in kitchen gadget, utensils isle. Thanks for the video.
Hi from Atlantic Canada. We don’t have a Dollar Tree in my province, but I love to see what you’re stocking up on. We have Dollarama, but more expensive and they don’t carry as many products. Have a super Saturday
I have been buying those hash browns for years. They are very versatile. I went today to Walmart, Aldi's and the Dollar Tree to do a stock up. I haven't been going weekly and just decided to do it all at once this time. Midweek also made it nice as not as many in the store so shopping was quick and checkout was quick. I have been compiling a list from your videos and keeping a lookout for them. I did not find the first aid box you get, but I did find something similar at the hardware store which has a lot in it and the case is plastic, so that went to the car. Enjoy your videos.
Need to get moisture absorbers for the cabin of our boat, we had some mildew in there this year. Never happened before, I think it’s because we didn’t use the boat much. Also hoping to find some of the Thai chili oil, we really like it but haven’t seen it just lately. Please let us know if you figure out how to DIY cough drops!❤🇺🇸

I have done such a terrible job of FIFO. I just found a case (24 cans) of kernel corn BB 2022 I forgot about. I opened two cans and they looked and smelled fine. Would you go ahead and eat them? I have no problem eating something a year out from the BB date but wasn’t sure about two years past. Thank you for your advice!
@@scarymary2035 I made sure to boil it 5 minutes and the corn tasted great. I’m making a concerted effort to get my stuff in order. I’m glad to know I don’t have to just toss it.
I was wondering if you remembered the matches this time! Lol. I have 25 packets of those little matches among other fire starters and my boyfriend keeps asking me every time I buy a pack , 'don't you have enough?" The answer is always NOPE! I also buy a pack of taper candles with them. It's become a addiction/obsession (?) 😅
Hon. How about doing a stock up at family dollar or dollar general? Dollar tree has staples most of the time Let’s see what you can find at others. Dollar general does have a dollar section . I stock up on instant potatoes/instant rice. Takes a lot less water and is faster to cook. Sometimes I don’t even cook it because I like cold rice with milk, cinnamon and of course the little sugar!
I also refuse to eat Tilapia. Conditions they are raised in are deplorable as well as any meats processed in China. Most American chicken is ship , processed and shipped back. No way, no how about it.
