Im relatively new to this still don’t understand water changes 😩 how do you take water out and add new water? And how do you dose the water? If I take a gallon of tap water and need to add water conditioner to it, how much do I put? The bottles always tell you how much for 10 gallons or more, but they never tell you how much for water changes….. and do you scoop water out??? Do you take your fish out when you clean? Do you take the fish out if you move stuff around inside, like the plants or hard scapes? What about the built in sump tanks, like the marineland, do you take the fish out or something when cleaning the back and filter? I took my sponge out and the whole tank got cloudy as hell. I think because I forgot to turn the pump off. I rinsed out the filters (in separate tank water ) and after an hourbro so everything was fine. But every time I do anything in the tank I have an anxiety attack that I’m killing then all 😩 because I’m kicking things up and spiking water parameters. Help 🥺
Those little white worms floating in your tank are detritus worms. They are harmless and only feed on decaying plants, fish food, and detritus. The reason why they are suspended in the water column is because they usually subside in the substrate. Since you cleaned and 'stirred' your tank they got suspended in the water column and it should go away back in the strait. They are not planaria as they are too small, but planaria is harmful to especially shrimp and snails.
I thought they might be detritus worms too but when I looked at them under a microscope they didn’t look alive. They just looked like white blobs which is weird. Thanks for the comment!
Nice looking clean up 👍
The little worms are planaria. In my 5+ years of experience they’re perfectly harmful to fish and inverts, but they’re just a result of excess fish food, decaying plant matter, ditritis etc. i actually prefer having them in my tank because fish and fry can nibble on em, and they can take care of a little bit extra waste and stuff. Hope that answered that haha
I thought it was planaria or detritus worms too but I don’t think they are. I looked at them underneath a microscope and they didn’t look alive at all. Just weird white things I guess.
Started watching your videos after Marineland 5 gal tank setup and its update...
Really nice videos and very informative too... Thanks a lot

Thanks! 👍
Looking good brother 😁
Sick tank homie! Question about your reef tank, again. 😂 What are your sunrise/sunset light settings at?
Thanks! My sunrise/sunset is currently at 70 blue, 45 red, and 5 white. Sorry for the late response!
Love the outro!
Red = crushed coral. 👌
Thanks!
