This reminds me of Tomorrow’s World from yesteryear 😉- thanks for sharing a piece of the future guys. Getting a seven day system into a caravan is going to be challenging for OEMs over time, as they will need to compromise MTPLM / payloads over onboard tank capacity increases or persuade more club sites to increase the volume of direct water access taps to pitches if their system can work with or regulate variable mains pressure. A definite watch this space scenario.

Definitely Tomorrow's World today. Thanks Kieran Prendiville and Judith Hann. Can't wait to see if this gets into production.

Thanks Franks, it is due to be fitted in the Burstner Elegance 2021 model so it is coming very soon. 😊

Hi Karen, great video, thanks. We are looking to buy a high end tag axle unit and would like one with Indus. However, it would appear that even after 3 years since launch, there are no other options than Burstner. We've tried contacting Thetford but no responses forthcoming. Are you aware of any other models with it available. My worry is that just one manufacturer adopting this will lead to Thetford discontinuing and then no cartridges available.

Thanks for watching, I know quite a bit about the iNDUS system and personally like it, but you are right, the integration of it has been slow. It is in the Elegance and some of the Frankia models. I don’t know about other manufacturers. It would be unlikely that Thetford would stop selling the cassettes but I appreciate your concern. I am at Düsseldorf at the end of the month so will ask the question about its future. Happy Motorhome shopping, there are certainly some fantastic choices out there for you, and some discounts to be secured. 😊👍

Many excellent features but why does everything have to have a bloody app? I just want to leave my deposit in the bank and kick back with a beer. Looking at the additive cartridges, I have a sneaking suspicion that the additive cartridges is more about marketing and profit margin and surfing the environmentalism wave than anything else. It would not surprise me if they are pre-diluted with water to boost profit margins (currently you can only get them from Thetford) as they look similar in size to the bottles of Thetford pink n' blue and they seem to last me about 6 months if I do 20 weekends and a couple of full weeks here and there. Also more single use plastic rather than being able to refill the cartridges from an "a considerably less plastic used to make this sachet than to make the bottles type sachet"... Didn't we see this in the home printer sector? What are they now doing? Offering refillable cartridges, that's what. The dump (no pun intended... or was it?) feature looks great but how many campsites will be ready for it? (its not septic tank friendly... yet). I think this will start to appear in high end motor homes first, then trickle down (really, no pun intended... honest) to the lesser mortals MH's and Cvans. It would be interesting to know if any of the mainstream UK manufacturers are planning to fit this system to 2022/3 models.

This system is certainly more for the European luxury Motorhome market. The practicality for here in the uk isnt great due to the disposal side, as you rightly point out. The cost is quite high too if you were touring regularly. Its a system that is rolling out so time will tell 😊 Have a fantastic weekend, Karina

So u have to buy their toilet .. and cartridge kit .. I assume the drain hose kit comes with it .. so the chemical in those cartridges is strong enough to break down solids to a liquefied form where you only do one drain for grey and black water .. what do the cartridge bottles cost ?? So how much of a retro - fit do u have to do completely to have a functioning toilet system .. I could imagine the price of at least $1,500 U.S. how would I contact thetford / Indus I’m very interested so please send me links to find out more this might just revolutionize the RV world as we know it ...

This definitely looks the way forward. I'm sure over time it will be refined and adapted in some format for high end caravans as well, but that obviously would mean staying more on fully serviced pitches. Great idea though.

Thanks Dan, personally I like this system, especially for touring Europe or off gridding. It will be interesting to see how its rolled out by manufacturers. 😊 Karina

    • @HereWeTow
      @HereWeTow  4 года назад

Thanks Lucian, the macerator should deal with the toilet paper before it passes to the waste tank, along with solid waste. 😊

Very interesting! Still a LOT of unanswered questions though, like cost, composition, and volume of chemicals. Many sites - especially in rural locations - are not connected to the sewer and rely on sceptic tanks. As you so rightly say, still very early days. Cheers!

Interesting idea, I wonder if it could be retrofitted to our travel trailer since it’s USA spec and already had the 3 holding tanks fitted 🤔🤔🤔

Really like the idea of using greywater, hopefully filtered in some way, for the flushing process. However if you don't like moving your motorhome when pitched up, and for the majority of chemical disposal points on many UK sites this device would be impractical. Not many sites allow grey and chemical toilet effluent in the same drain. Very similar to the US system in their motorhomes, which can use suitable drainage arrangements at their sites. Macerators can be easily damaged if not used correctly, and very unpleasant to repair.

Wow, very nicely linked system, professionalising a lot of the self builders ideas about grey water recycling, a few practical things to overcome and difficult for caravanners without discharging into another container to be wheeled to a disposal point I think and I hope the sensors/pumps are very robust as lots to go wrong, but great to see, thanks for sharing :)

Sounds like a great idea, it's very similar to the American system. Campsites would need to check their grey water is on the sewer system.

It's nice to see companies trying new things and it's a nice idea but I can see the flows that would need to be over come.
    I'm a caravan user
How expensive the chemicals are if it costs £5 a time to use the toilet
How would we discharge? Family of 4 wouldn't last 7 days so would mean packing up to tow to a discharge point.
Alot of pipes and parts that may fail and could leak under the van causing issues to the floor.
How would the system been cleaned out for example we drink from our taps but use puraclean regularly to keep it clean
    Hope these are addressed

Thanks for the video. Keeping the industry moving forward is always a good thing.
It’s a great idea and I love innovation but....
This idea requires every site to update their plumbing and then spend more money disposing the waste, hmmmmm.
If the site is using a septic system, forget it. They will not want grey and black filling the septic tank as it will quadruple what they have to spend, emptying it.
In the UK, black water goes into a chemical waste disposal point and connected into the sewage system or septic tank (Expensive to clean back to drinking water). Grey waste is allowed to be emptied into the rain water run of pipes (cheaper to clean back to drinking water).
We all hate emptying the toilet cassette, but if this system takes off, it will be many years before you could use it everywhere. I think the cassette is here for many more years unfortunately.
