  • Updating electrical in a bathroom renovation can either be the easiest part of the project 😊 Or the most frustrating and time consuming task to complete 😄 It's often tough to judge what your in for sometimes...
    My advice:
    1. When looking a bathroom remodel project, be sure to take the time to remove outlets & switches to see what you will be working with. If its old cloth covered wire, I would recommend replacing it 👍
    2. If you are adding new circuits for a GFI or Heated flooring system, be sure to open up the service or sub-panel to evaluate the condition of wiring, load & room in panel
    3. Do short or uncharge for you labor when it comes to running new wires to a service panel. Some of the longest days for me was running a couple of dedicated circuits that I thought I could do in a couple of hours
    4. Enroll in my DIY GEEK MEMBERSHIP (one-time payment, that's it 👊) I assure you it will save you time & money 😊 bit.ly/3EZM1Em

Great vid as always, Steve! It's worth mentioning that, starting with the 2020 NEC, 406.9(C) requires receptacles to be at least 36" horizontally from the bathtub rim or shower base threshold. Receptacles for bidets or other toilet type accessories can fall within that 36" but have to be a *single* receptacle (not a duplex).
If the bathroom is such that you cant achieve 36", then receptacles have to be on the wall opposite the tub/shower.
In PA we're still on the 2017 NEC but many states have adopted either 2020 or 2023.

A tip for the DIYers out there, if yr gonna do electrical, get yrself a pair of romex strippers and strip the wire before you put it in the box. Don't go in there hacking away with a knife. You will cut the wire.

48" top is standard, a lot of older homes are higher lol. Bathrooms 46" top. ADA asks for max 48" top or those who need to comply.

Just installed a clarion tub and caulked it with ge advanced white silicon and sprayed it with winder with vinegar. Now my silicone is yellowing everywhere the winded with vinegar was sprayed. Terrible tip. Please let your followers know to use something different.

      Really? Sorry to hear that
What the hell does this have to do with electrical? Did GE tell you this?
