Seems like a fun weapon against Malenia :) Perhaps it has more utility against mobs? I've never tested the weapon art properly. Hammers in general have potential to be one of my favorite weapon types, they're good against certain bosses like Radagon. You also make it look really good against Malenia here with the stance breaks. The charged R2 also tracks very well when we face the opposite direction after a roll. Unfortunately against many other bosses the R1/R2 frequently whiffs, that's the main reason why I barely use hammers. Maybe this can be corrected with more precise positioning during combat, but that seems more like a bandaid than a fun solution.
On the recent Cherilyn run, I tried the skill out on the three Basilisks beside Seethewater Cave and the horizontal swing missed all of them. It might have just been bad timing against really jumpy enemies but that's the only other experience I have using the Nox Hammer. The wind-up of a Hammer's swing (excluding Club and Stone Club) does need some getting used to. With the lack of hyper-armour, it can be frustrating. My solution was quite literally Cherilyn. Grab a shield with a stable Guard Boost (Brass Shield or a Greatshield), use your guard to get into melee range and learn your timings. Guard Counters are your best friend and use charged R2s during openings. Hammers are predominantly single-target weapons. So unless you're willing to be patient and take enemies on one-by-one, it's best to grab a skill that can deal with groups. P.S., On my recently community post about a Cherilyn 2.0, I mentioned that a Greatshield doesn't bring out the strengths of the Morning Star. I was completely off because while the enemy recoil sometimes pushes them out of the MS's range, my mistake was _only_ relying on Guard Counters. Instead, I took off Shield Bash and switched out Wild Strikes for Stormcaller. Now I have my range and AoE.
Thank you, you're too kind. It's good and uses Somber Stones to upgrade so it'll show its power rather early. The only obstacle is Radahn, but if you grab the Antspur immediately, you can let the Rot do the work for you. :X
Oh man, I don't know about Bleed builds. There are plenty of them on RUclips; especially with the DLC out. If you mean my own take on a Bleed build, I can try.
