The second bra you showed, the one with the zipper, that is like the one I am wearing right now after my surgery. I really love it.

How long does bandage stay on after mastectomy? I remember the redness, itching and welts from lumpectomy 16 years ago. Surgeon this time said it probably wasn't put on correctly then and she would do it right. At least she is confident. I know how terribly sensitive my skin is and am planning to have a stock of hydrocortisone handy. Even the tiny bandage from biopsy that was only on for a day left me quite irritated. My breasts are very small already so I never wear a bra at home to avoid irritation and pain in my ribs due to fibromyalgia. Not really looking forward to a tight compression bra for weeks 24/7😢

I'm sorry I don't remember exactly how long the bandage was on for :s. I found it quite itchy and got welts as well. The next surgery I had I told my doctor and she used a different material for the wrap (I guess I was allergic to it) and it was better. Perhaps mention that to your doctor especially if the recent biopsy bandage was irritating too. Worth a try! I'm sorry I don't have any helpful ideas for the compression bra to make it more comfortable for you... I hope it turns out to be better than you are expecting🤞😘🤞!!!

What if I didn’t get reconstruction? (I do plan on getting reconstruction after radiation)Will these work for flat too?

    • @ChelseyTarnow

Good question. I don't know for sure, but I purchased mine based on approximate breast side... so my thinking is that you would purchase a compression bra that is made for healing from a flat mastectomy. I would ask a professional to be sure though. Sending positive vibes your way, you've got this

Thanks for watching, I hope it was helpful. Yes, I wore a compression bra 24/7 once my surgical bandage was taken off and it was recommended by my surgeon. Sending positive vibes for a quick recovery💫💌🌱.
