    Now that's a dream car I've had in my heart for ... uh ... since I was a younger boy !!! And happens to be the same color (light ice blue metallic) or super close that I painted my 67 convertible Beetle !!! Both on the outside and inside too. It was originally yellow but a fellow Airman had an absolutely pristine newer (can't recall the year ... this was in 79) Corvette that was that color. We got the actual color from the VIN and lo and behold it was a Sherwin Williams brand and had a local body shop (Mike's Collision in Clearfield, Utah) and it turned out sweet !! Still can't help to wish it had been a Porsche like that mate's !! G'on ya everyone !!! Thanks for sharing another great video Scott (two t's ??) with us and definitely don't let you meat loaf !!!

    Nice build! Love the color on the body lines of the car.
    Which Dunlops did James say he runs on the street? Which does he run on track?
    I have a GT3 muffler on my 964. With semi solid engine and transmission mounts, the car is loud. On the GT3, Porsche uses pre mufflers to tame the sound in quiet mode. With the engine bay layout of the 964, there’s no reasonable space for the pre mufflers. Even on its quiet setting, you need to raise your voice to have a conversation. It’s cool for the driving experience, but be forewarned.
    Another mod James mentioned was shortening the heat ratios. On mine, we changed 2nd through 5th. Removing some of the overlap between 4th and 5th allows closer ratios - it’s a blast!

    Sounds like a Carrera RS! Car is a 'sleeper' for sure, but with those engine mods and stiffer track suspension, that lovely RS popular 'peppermint' colour should have stayed. That blue is too tame! But, I am so happy to hear that beast fire up sounding like a true air cooled 911. Cheers!

    I love that blue colour, thought it was more of a grey shade until it mentioned! It's called Sally! I should call my 911 something. I think it's great that it's been plastic coated. Stone chips took the ceramic coat off in places on my 718.

    • @OutlawGarage
      @OutlawGarage  3 года назад +1

      Thanks 😃👍
      I guess it all depends on 1) Budget 2) The look of the car you want as the 964 and 993 do look very different for a 911 3) the 993 will be slightly quicker. It really comes down to personal choice as you can't go wrong with either one to be honest

    • @jamessanderson3545
      @jamessanderson3545 3 года назад +1

      For me, 993 vs 964 is simply a choice of which shape you love best as ownership is very similar. 993 a bit more refined with more advanced suspension, particularly in the rear. 964 maintains classic 911 profile which is what swayed me to a 964.

    G'day,
    What a car and that sound it's music.
    Q. When this car is out on track days and the odd bit of competing do you need a cage . At least a 1/2 cage.
    ✌ Peace

    • @OutlawGarage
      @OutlawGarage  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching. The cage really depends on what event or series you are racing in, not all of them require you to have a cage.

    • @jamessanderson3545
      @jamessanderson3545 3 года назад

      Hey Kevin, glad you appreciated my 964. I must admit, it was getting to the stage at track days, particularly at fast tracks such as Philip Island, that I was pondering fitting a cage. Coming off at 240 plus would not be pretty.

  • @johndavid6058
    @johndavid6058 3 года назад +1

    I heard the mention of 965... common error calling a 964 Turbo a 965, because it just isn't and never has been. The 965 was a special project that never went into production and only a few were made and only one still exists in the back rooms of the museum - I've seen it. The 965 Rarely sees the light of day. It's partially 959 and partially a few other things and is pretty odd ball looking actually. So..... the term 965 is 100% incorrect for any form of 964 Turbo, despite the fact that some parts for the 964 series has a 965 prefix. That is just one of the many oddities of the Porsche parts numbering systems ;). Cheers!
