What memories..back in the day I had a Pioneer tuner (with the heavy weighted dial knob), Crown amp , Akai reel to reel , Marantz equalizer , Imsai cassette deck , KLH tower speakers and to top it off..a Pioneer single motor/direct drive turn table with the best diamond Ortofon stylus..what fun times I had listening to all my vynils...and cassettes.

Recently my parents moved to a retirement facility and my dad had a cool Marantz receiver. I asked him about it....I nearly died when he told me he gave it to Goodwill. As a kid I used to sit if front of my uncles entire glass encased system and listen to Aerosmith Rocks on Koss headphones in the the '70's. I loved looking at the VU meters.

During my first trip to this place, Bobby told me that some people come here to find a cure to sickness and I knew what he meant. And then we laughed.Pls come and visit, surely a very nice place including the personnel.

I'm facing a gorgeous 1972-vintage Pioneer SX-828 receiver on eBay for $330 USD ("works great"), all lights work, panel, tuning needle light, etc. Immaculate. One owner, kept in a cabinet for 30+ years. Only 1 slight chip on back top corner of wooden side panel, that's it. Only problem is: it's 1972-vintage. That means electrolytic caps are done (despite it "working great" - doubtless all caps are way out of spec/tolerance)... & who knows how many transistors, diodes and power resistors are soon to follow. The SX-828 also has a tragic design flaw somewhere in the power supply (never corrected...no "updated" or revision models): a resistor in the regulator circuit is prone to frying and burning the PCB. Always lusted after this unit since I was a 13 year old kid...now here it is, I can easily buy it, and I'm like, "no way...don't need the heartache." I don't want it just as a museum piece, collecting dust.

MrChefg1 He doesn't sell out of town & the prices are not posted, so there was no point. Also the video would have been to long, I only had a small window to film.

When panning over the Sansui G33000, you missed showing the gorgeous face plate section of the receiver. Same with the Sansui 9090 that he talked about. Just passed it by. Are you aware the 33000 is a two piece receiver?

Yes, I was limited on time allowed, and was just doing a pass through of the store. I wish I could have stopped at every piece and talked about each one. Thanks for watching! 👌🎼✨

I'd be broke because I'd buy all Harman Kardon stuff in there. HK PM645 is so underrated . HK PA2400 is a beast of an amp.

@@vpconcepts9838 That's such a shame, I also hope they survive this current nonsense and reopen soon. We used to have a few shops here in Cambridge England where I live, but alas no more. It was a great way to climb the hifi ladder and one shop allowed you a 7day loan on equipment and take your old kit in part exchange as well. Thanks for letting me know and for the wonderful videos as well. Stay safe.
