This is the one a lot of people, myself included were waiting for. The crazy part is, the ring has always been there. The very first episode right after Himmel passes away she reminisces on the ring and more, episode 12 where she is looking through her things to give Stark a birthday gift she sees the ring Himmel gave her, its so significant that its even in the intro.
Let’s not forget that Himmel was *THE* Hero. He led the party that bested the Demon King and brought about an era of peace to the world, his very existence was enough to keep demons like Aura the Guillotine in hiding for decades. Himmel could’ve had basically any human woman (and probably a fair number of men) he wanted, but he never got married. That’s how much he loved Frieren, how devoted he was to her, that he chose to grow old alone rather than be with someone else. It’s beautifully tragic.
And to add on this, in that moment I think he recognized he won't get that reciprocation of his love. And while he doesn't want to impose that on her, this moment and those like it are for him alone to cherish. And that maybe, some day, Frieren might understand. But she doesn't need to, this was for him.
Someone has to edit HimmelxFrieren with Birds of a Feather by Billie Eilish, the phrase "I'll love you 'til the day that I die" IS ALREADY SO HEARTBREAKING
Notice that Fern's bracelet the Lotus is in full bloom, showing that love has or will blossom fully into it's full form. Frieren's ring, however, is still a simple bud and hasn't bloomed yet, showing that Himmel's love will never fully come to fruition, even if it still exists and is still eternal.
I just want to say "I might actually start crawling on my ceiling" was one of the most funny and random things I've ever heard anyone say in a reaction. I literally burst out laughing lol
Another thing to note about Himmel giving Frieren the ring is that the clock between them as he is putting the ring on her shows that the one thing between them will always be time :)
Fern definitely holds Stark in a high regard. A lot of her harshness towards Stark comes from her being upset that he hasn't lived up to the image she has of him in her mind. It was also super moving that was Fern was willing to stop the whole journey right there and scour that whole forest to find Frieren's ring.
An interesting difference between the ring Frieren has and the bracelet Fern has. They are both mirrored-lotus flower designs, but Frieren’s is just a bud where as Fern’s has blossomed.
I like how everyone who watches this show knows right away that Himmel knew the meaning of the mirrored lotus. The man oozes theater kid energy, there is no way he doesn’t know the flower language in every country.
I waited this entire episode for you to react to that scene at the end, and boy was it worth it! I also love how you called basically everything before it happened, great reaction as always!
Thank you so much for reacting, this is one of my favorite moments of anime in all time. With that said, I cried my eyes out at the Heiter scene as well, as praise for one's life's deeds has be a constant message in this anime so far, and watching Heiter say he is pretending struck a chord in me, as well as Frieren responding in a more comforting and emotional manner showing her growth by headpatting him. It gets me every single time.
17:27 🫖kettle is boiling, now she fround out~ The episode that lets all of Himmel-Frieren shippers know, the ship has sailed 80+years ago, Himmel said nothing and turn into a box on that ship.
I rly love the progression of frieren itself, the facial expressions, the subtle own little way you also mentioned it, headpat others but dont like get headpat xD its gets me every time, the proposing-scene. "im used to losing things" is probably the saddest sentence in the whole anime.
Another detail most people miss is that, when Himmel "proposes" to Frieren, the scene has them each in one side of the screen while there's a clocktower in the middle. The composition of the scene tells you that, the only thing preventing them from being in a relation is time. That time is the time a long lived elf like Frieren will take to notice all those gestures, and by the time they do, it'll already be too late, as is the case. Hopefully, by the end, when they arrive in heaven, I hope Frieren may be able to tell Himmel how she really felt about him, so that he can pass on knowing that, although too late for him, the love was mutual.
Frieren is praising Heiter, Fern and Sein because it was Heiter that used to pat Frierens head, like he did in the first ep and she said "dont pat my head" :D
Very cute reaction! Fern and Stark are married, at least they fight like an old married couple. Himmel as a lover was incredible. He never tried to force his feelings onto Frieren so that she would return those feelings as guilt-pay. I>E rewarding a lover because the beloved feels guilty and cannot say no. Look how the clock tower stands between them.
From heiters's perspective, having Frieren pat him on the head in his old age must have sent him way back to his youth since he knows how much older/wiser she is compared to him. Very humbling as a man to feel so small from a position of love. It caught a tear from me.
I think yours is my absolute favorite reaction to this episode, and I've seen a LOT of them by now. Even the flashback with Heiter got to you - you really do love love, in all its forms, and that comes across so strongly in this video. You have a beautiful heart and I hope you never let life harden it. ❤🩹
She didn't wear it because from her perspective the ring will broke due to wear & tear in short amount of time. Which is why she kept it away. She treated this ring special unknowingly.

The same thing says marin kitagawa when gojo comes to her home xD
"I'm used to losing things" is the most heartbreaking line in the whole season.
Frieren 80 years ago: "That's a weird way to give someone a ring"
Frieren now: "Wait...Himmel was into me??"
Indeed
As someone else has mentioned: "Frieren: Long-lived woman realising how badly she fumbled a hot shota 80 years after his death"
And they say boys don't realize it quick enough. 🤣
@@deltagreen451 Wait, I thought it was 30 years after he died.
@@tjjordan4207 Correct: 30-ish years after his death, 80-ish years after their adventure together.

he had heiter ;)

shame really that Frieren left him alone and went for a 50 year wander around til she remembered to come back for the meteor shower huh
Someone has to edit HimmelxFrieren with Birds of a Feather by Billie Eilish, the phrase "I'll love you 'til the day that I die" IS ALREADY SO HEARTBREAKING
She left this man on read for 50 years

NOOOO I WILL SOB
15:12 with how much Frieren values her sleep, her looking while others are sleeping is a pretty Big Deal, methinks
I just want to say "I might actually start crawling on my ceiling" was one of the most funny and random things I've ever heard anyone say in a reaction. I literally burst out laughing lol
But ohkaty didn't do it. Crawl on the ceiling that is.
Ma'am I was promised ceiling crawling, pay up 😂
hahaha😂😂😂
The words "don't ever say that again" never sounded so cute as now ❤
Another thing to note about Himmel giving Frieren the ring is that the clock between them as he is putting the ring on her shows that the one thing between them will always be time :)
The only thing Himmel truly struggled against was time. Time was the one thing that stood in his way. Its so bittersweet it really hits your feels.
Fern definitely holds Stark in a high regard. A lot of her harshness towards Stark comes from her being upset that he hasn't lived up to the image she has of him in her mind.

Where as Frieren's love is budding, while Fern, and Stark's love has bloomed more so.
I like how everyone who watches this show knows right away that Himmel knew the meaning of the mirrored lotus. The man oozes theater kid energy, there is no way he doesn’t know the flower language in every country.
Eisen diving off the cliff headfirst is one of my favorite scenes.
And I love the look on Himmel's face when he sees that ring.
It just shows that everyone in the heros party was absolutely op.
50 years later,
Frieren: Oh my god, did he crush on me?
This episode is always good for a little emotional breakdown.
This reaction was like the warm comfy version of watching someone go in blind to the Red Wedding.

I misread Heiter as something else and had to re-read 😂

oh yay, its THAT episode :D fun as always :D
If you re-watch episode 1, she's clutching that ring at his funeral. 😢
Himmel never married. He waited for her his entire life.
There are lots of great moments in Frieren, but I'll admit the ring flashback is still one of my all time faves.
From heiters's perspective, having Frieren pat him on the head in his old age must have sent him way back to his youth since he knows how much older/wiser she is compared to him. Very humbling as a man to feel so small from a position of love. It caught a tear from me.
She is older than him, but he was always far wiser than her, especially in his old age.

this is such a sweet comment thank you so much 😭

9:25 nonsense, Frieren headpats are OP. Noone can resist them.
Katy: I'm not gonna cry today
Himmel: Hold my beer
I remember in Episode 1, Himmel kept single for the 50 years after the 1st time Era Meteor Shower…till he died.
IT'S TIME
6:52 cutest scene in the whole show! RECOGNIZE!
Just a hint on pronunciation: "Sein" is pronounced more like the English word "sign" with a soft "s".
The meaning of his name is simply "be".
the real dsfhsdjfhsdf moment. 🥺
Himmel the best character that has 90% flashbacks
Frieren for top densest characters.
Que grande que es mi hombre Sein, todo un capo
So, how was it crawling on your ceiling? 😂
Thank you for sharing 😊
あなたが動画を再開してくれた事を嬉しく思っております。
フリーレンに反応してくれてどうもありがとう!
The fact that elves are so Asexual is just crazy that there were ever whole villages of them at one point in time
Frieren and Serie are the pretty liars.
After this episode they finally released the special animated music video for the ending theme: ruclips.net/video/lv5R6C3hz54/видео.html
Himmel is him
LITERALLY
Himmel never married, he didn't have any children....
