I really had to stifle my laughter for a lot of these scenes xD . This "keyboard" is one of the weirdest things I've run into so far, even for ergonomic stuff xD . Hope you enjoy te video! :)

The practice sentence was: "Hello my name is Thomas and I'm typing on a Comfort Systems Ergonomic Keyboard right now. This must be one of the weirdest things I've ever seen in my life!" Наука
Your inability to review it without giggling hysterically at the absurdity of the design makes it so much better
The bashing of imperial units continues. I love that.
I might do t-shirts of them at some point xD .
@@Chyrosran22 Please make a "HHHHHIDDEOUSSS" t shirt. I'll a couple... for my mother in law. Seriously thoe I'd buy those
Even us Americans take pride in the bashing of our system.
@@NoEntertainment You mean the British system?
No. I like it when Imperial is bashed. It's comedic
His laughing at the end (10:10) is perfect for replacing Vincent Price's at the end of Michael Jackson's "Thriller".
i actually really enjoyed hearing you chuckle
hoping for more silly shit like this
It was really funny recording this xD .
Chyrosran Tom: "smiles"
This....
Does put a smile on my face
You can get or make a simple overhead camera rig on the cheap, or hang a mirror on an angle above your desk and film that mirror.
A second mic arm for the camera could work if it will hold the weight
Actually, this is a perfect board to showcase artisan keycaps. You could even mount it to the wall and angle the panels down at your desk for display purposes. I might have to get one for just that purpose...
An ergonomic keyboard with tiring switches … ironic.
Just curious though, do you have any more redux reviews or top X videos planned in the near future?
Kinda yeah, but they're low-priority. Some are partial reduxes, such as a keyboard that's coming up in a few weeks.
I really love your way of hating imperial units
What an abomination, I'll have 20.
20 pieces?
@@speedweed683 20 thirds of those swivelling stuff
Your "Ergonomic" typing is definitely getting better over time!
I can see you switching one day.
Someday.... Over the rainbooowww.... ;)
I love that you reached out to the company to try to get it working! LOL
Could the key with the gear icon be for configuring the keyboard & macros? Or maybe there's another key for that...
Exactly what I thought, as custom logos for the win key in keyboards made more than 10 years ago are really uncommon, and also in general when you have the two win keys you have menu key too. Also the gear represented in that keys is the same gear that lets you configure the hardware positioning, that is in my opinion pretty cool! Anyway it may also not be the case as there is a bold "C" button over the numpad that may serve that purpose as well. Till it would be impossible to use it we'll never know the answer unfortunately...
Probably a good design for people with a moderate disability.
I knew a guy with one dwarfed arm(certain medication+pregnancy=) that could have used something like this.
I don't know, what's even the point of the base? Most split ergo boards these days are just two completely separate units with a cable between them that are adjustable so that you can position them however you like. The base actually makes things simultaneously less adjustable and really convoluted.
Also using really stiff rubber domes in an ergo board seems like an odd choice to me...
@@kevadu Many people who need "specialist" ergo keyboards lack fine motor ability and benefit from stiff switches that prevent accidental key presses.
9:58 Chyrosran22.exe has stopped working.
This was a very worthwhile donation, I love the review Thomas!
That was even better than usual Tom, I love the fun you had with that one.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it :) .
The fact he could not stop laughing makes the vid all the better
Always look forward to waking up on a Saturday morning to a new Chyrosran video.
that typing demo is really entertaining
I'm so glad you left the outtakes in i'm giggling like an idiot just looking at this thing!
As an American who wants to switch to metric, thank you for that hazing when you were talking about the weight of the keyboard.
My wrists hurt watching this video
Just buy a camera that you can strap to your forehead. That makes reviewing weird keyboards easier.
Then add a second camera, which captures the first scene. He'll look like a complete moron. Hahaha, hahaha.
@@Willibef 😂
Yup, that angle adjustment really worked a treat for the demo.
Me: I want a floating design mechanical gaming keyboard
Mom: We have floating design keyboard at home
Floating design keyboard at home:
Giggle, giggle... lol. Yeah, you're preferences are not apparent. We could coin a handful of phrases in this video.... "keyboard origami..". That's actually shirt worthy! Glad you had fun with it, we laughed with you.... You're probably the only one that's ever reviewed this board too. Thanks for the info on this board, i remember looking at it years ago. Great review as always. Cheers!
Excellent :D
I've used a Compaq with the split backspace spacebar, and I found it rather good to use.
Ok I just got one of these but have no rj25 connector. What connection did you use......nm
Honestly, this video is top notch comedy
OMG, we had this in the department cupboard for years. At one stage, it was given to a new lecturer as a "student work of art," welcome gift. It sat on top of his cupboard with his model airplanes when I left. This would have been ~2001 ish...
We too didn't have the cable to make it work, although I was told that it plugged through a box that the pedals plugged into. They got used in an experiment, the only reason we had the keyboard, in the first place.
I had one of these for over 17 years. Once I got it set up I thought it was the greatest keyboard ever. I am looking to buy another one. In fact I would consider buying yours if you still have it.
" x by y thumb parts, in stupid units"
fukn lol!
that thumbnail made me burst into laughter
You're wheezing gives lives..
Cool layout, it is similar to what I am considering for 3D printing a keyboard myself, so that I am not limited by the 30x30 print surface (or by a 60% that otherwise should fit)! It would be a way to get to good use some cherry mount SMK 2nd gen I bought on a big pack from taobao!
nice wingnut collection
:’)
Camera vs. sitting postition need some workarounds. Possible options:
-Use an overhead photography extender arm for camera/tripod
-Keep tripod in same position, but shorten the tripod legs and use some solid boxes and/or the table itself , so that you sit right under the tripod. Hitting the boxes or the tripod might prove very unfortunate for the camera though
-Use a large mirror above your head, and have the tripod completely behind your chair or completely besides you. Then the trick is to hold that mirror steady and safely so that you don´t get injured, or get years of bad luck breaking mirrors
-Completely reverse the tripod hanging it from the ceiling, so that you can perfectly sit and type and move under the camera with no obstruction (Somehow this option makes me think of imperial units)
-Split the camera ergonomically, just like this keyboard ;)
I don't have any of the equipment you describe xD . This is just my computer room, not a fancy filming studio ;) .
@@Chyrosran22Wrote that mostly for fun, but consider specially the first option. I see you have already what looks like a Manfrotto tripod. An extender arm for overhead photography in general can cost a lot less than a tripod
They get points for not altering the standard layout AND keeping the 6-key on the right-hand pod. Every other ergo board I've ever seen puts the 6 on the left, but if you learn "proper" typing, the 6 is typed by the right index finger. I've never been able to use an ergo keyboard because of the misplacement of the 6 (mainly, but also because the screen nav keys are usually non-standard as well)
I hope you find a way to work this thing. It looks very acrobatic keyboard to me.
I like the idea that you can adjust every angle on this thing. But I probably wouldn't want to use it given your review ;)
This keyboard allows you to give you computer setup an immense amount of astigmatism
3:50 I seriously hope to live enough to see the Imperial System being crushed by the "foot" of International System
I didn't even started watching video and I already can hear him swearing like a sailor
I think that if he had to spend a whole week with it this video would have turned out a lot differently.
That LAUGH made my day! 😂
We had one of those at my school. It connects with a DIN connector.
It looks fantastic! And - in typing demo - stable as fuck. Nice, really nice!
What's this? 4D Keyboard Chess?
Now i want a Chyrosran22 vs El Risitas laugh battle
That's not a keyboard, it's a bandoneón for someone with three arms.
What does the "C" on the key at the top right stand for, or shouldn't I ask?
Comfort, I'd wager!
Remember back in the beginning when you were real serious and professional with your videos? 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Boy how times have changed.
might buy this keyboard just to put crazy key caps on it
best almost my favorite keyboard till heard it was rubber dome for me beside the hard rare to find IBM Keyboard 4704 F62 Kishsaver Model F
Well I'm using a Planck on a daily basis. Despite your negative review of it, I like that layout. Still aiming at an Ergodox, though.
After all you do what suits you best.
absolute mad man
I know you keep slagging on split Ergo, but a Hot Dox 76 with Kalih Box Pink is just 👌.
One year ago.....day of the triffids keyboard!!!
This is almost as insane as a SafeType V902, and I say almost because this one is not vertical. I would honestly love to hear your thoughts on a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic keyboard as I salvaged a few of them in the 90's and early 00''s, and they are not bad once you get use to the layout, but my GOD on some of the later models they keyboard feet are weaker then a bent Twizzlers candy.
lastly on Imperial as an American I do like it better when talking about the weather as saying it's 100F outside when it's hot sounds better than 40C lol!
What are you talking about, 100 F sounds even more unappealing than 40 C! (Which is already 30 degrees too hot) xD
Thought that said Combat for a second.
Too high up and no wrist rest would make this a no-go for me. I already have to position my desk at a low position of the MS Natural line of keyboards or, indeed, my UHK. Note that most ergonomic instructions suggest that your lower arms should be horizontal when sitting upright. You can alleviate that by tilting the keyboard towards you, but if we're talking about ergonomics, then that's a no-go as well. Pretty interesting idea for tilting the pieces of the board, but in the end adjustable feet (as in the ErgoDox) make a ton more sense. So yeah, not ergonomic either if you ask me.
You can do a Jojo pose by using this keyboard
That evil cackle
AnyKey2000: Earthquake Edition!
I DIG THIS............wish i can have one
Dear god that is quite the look! I rather just use my regular full sized keyboard. Then at the end of the day do some hand stretches from that Dr. Levi guy's videos on RUclips.
A lot more convenient then, well, whatever I'm looking at.
Right until the hand stretches, which are completely inadequate to counteract 8 hours or whatever cramping and twisting your hands into unnatural positions just to type, stop doing diddly and you're in constant pain and enjoying surgery on your carpal tunnels to try to get back functioning hands.
This is what you meant by retaking the video multiple time. I see why.
I had to do quite a few retakes here even xD .
Fun video. I enjoyed it very much.
Also it's in very good taste that you mentioned your lack of experience with ergonomic keyboards when doing the review.
As an ergodox user, I cringed hard at the typing demo, it was hunt and peck all the way. would have really liked to see an actual split keyboard user give it a shor
this laugh gave me some serious tyrone vibes
there's a such thing as "too big"
it employs for rubber domes
finally we get to know Monty Python's deadly jok
its kinda cool looking, like a liminal keyboard
how tf is that kb so tall.
Th Emperor will not take lightly your continued derision of his units.
Excellent, I'm looking forward to his challenge! 8)
why dont you just place the tripod on the table in trontof you and look for the angle ?
That would work even worse! ;)
@@Chyrosran22 Put the tripod off to the side on top of the table and aim it down at 90 degrees so you can type normally?
At least the 6 key in the upper row is on the correct side for touch typists. I really hate "ergo" keyboards that have a split layout, and have the 6 key on the left side. Maddening. Yes, I type like a spastic spider on acid, and I'm proud of it. It took a great deal of military training to get up to my lofty typing speed of 60 odd words a minute with 5 errors or less. And my tape measure has both SAE and metric units on it, and I use them both when assembling stuff, depending on which one is the nearest to a whole unit.
I think we broke Thomas!
This keyboard is a manufactured meme.
Patented Mediaeval torture device
Best keyboard ever. If you have the slightest tendency toward carpal tunnel syndrome, find one if you can. (AFAIK they're no longer being made.)
You are like Ashens of keyboards.
I thought it was some weird abstract sculpture, a statement on the state of the PC market standardized yet fragmented and going into different directions in appearance but at the same time united by a base of monopolistic tendencies.
Y E S.
I’m here
Three player multiplayer gamers haven
the "ergonomic" typing
is so slow LOL
Isn't that the whole point of ergonomics? :p
That's because Thomas doesn't know how to type. 😛
As an ergodox owner I feel personally attacked
You dont sleep bro ?
I do! But scheduled uploads are nice ^^ .
this laugh is almost better than Ashens' lmao
No way! another ashens viewer, both communities are so niche there isn't much overlap
You should hear my proper belly laugh, the entire building can hear it when I do xD .
@@Chyrosran22 Well now I'm waiting for that to be featured in a video :V
I will now make sure to be dissapointed for every video that doesn't include a laugh and doesn't trigger an earthquake once played.
x)
Ngl I made the same sound at 1:35
1:37 You should've tried actually typing on it like that.
I thought you destroyed your keyboard after looking this thumbnail
As an American I have considered tolerating his hatred of the Imperial Units we still use,
but I'm concerned that if I give an inch he'll take a mile.
Kilometres it'll be.
interesting
You forgot to mention the horribly staggered split function key blocks.
I use ergo boards, and that thing is STUPID on toast.
You need an articulated arm for that camera! No point in torturing yourself for those typing demos.
This is why I do the TDXL videos from a sideways angle, too xD .
this keyboard looks like my old one after raging in a game LUL
Considering you have tens of thousands worth of keyboards, the fact that you have a view sonic 1080p monitor from like 2014 actualy kinda triggers me
Pretty sure it's much older than that actually xD . Maybe 2010 or something?
Comfort. How ironic
Haahahahaha
