Waited long time for Chris to ride this bike. Have been a Yamaha person last 38 years and yet this Honda keeps coming to mind. The price, punch and phun factor seem undeniably good.
Oh my.. it's gorgeous. Commuted on a 2003 for a good while and somehow honda kept making them look better, while most brands made em look worse over the years
Makes me miss my old f4i. Years of manual labor took their toll on my joints, and now I ride adventure bikes. There's something special about a bike that screams past 14,000 rpm.
If I could have one of these again I'd be so happy, my SP-2 rarely gets out of first. I remember my 2006 600RR was an absolute weapon on the roads, only got me one speeding ticket and did 60 miles combined commuting a day for years - I'm the same as you Chris although I flat out refuse to not have a sports bike even over winter :D
I got an RS 660 as my first bike a year ago and of course you can go really fast on track with it but that insane screaming sound of the 600s and 20% bump in power! There is definitely one in my future.
Great review Chris and I totally agree with you. As a kid I had pictures of Ducati 888 SPS and exups on my wall and I love my sportsbikes. I bought a retro earlier in the year and it makes more sense on the road and I get loads of compliments on the way it looks butI don't look back at it like I always did my sportsbikes! Love the gsxr750 but didn't want to pay £7k for a good late one, and these new cbr600s look great value in comparison! I think a test ride beckons!
Take a crack on the current gen GSXR750 my man! Truly the last analog sport bike on the road. Brembos, BPF adjustable suspension, electric steering dampner, lighter than an R6, CBR and ZX6 and packing a gnarly punch! No TC/ABS get that junk out of here.
That is a good package.👍 As for sports bikes and distance - I did Melbourne to Sydney on a 04 1KRR in a day, Petrol stops were very good for an extensive stretch session 🤣 Don't get the need for electronics engine fueling aside but as mentioned, it can be turned off and ABS can be worked on if you really want. 120hp is a good amount of power with modern tyres to not need much help but I do think the bike is a bit portly. Loose 20kg and have fun. Tracks in Northern Europe sound like your tracks, tight and quite tiring on a liter bike. Then there is the cost in purchase, insurance and tyres. Maybe the screaming 600 is a good idea after all.
I love a sport bike too, I get it they aren’t most comfortable but man they are fun and they make you happy. I keep a cruiser and a sports bike most my life and it’s very satisfying.
I love 600cc supersport. I have an R6, and also a huge fan of the cbr600rr. These bikes faded a little in popularity because IMO nakeds were initially more ergonomic and easier for entry level. But I think supersport is making a comeback. Because once you ride a 600cc screamer, or liter bike SS, you realize "that's the real thing". I still tool around on my naked bike, but I ride my R6 the most. LONG LIVE SUPERSPORT!!!
I got to that point where I was bored of the naked bikes and wanted something more sportsbikey again, so I ended up with an RS660, which I love, but I wish the Honda had been around last year when I was looking. I've nearly bought one so many times over the last 20 years (had a zx6 instead), so maybe next year will finally be the year! 😄
Another great video! Small observation about the term "retro fad": the Triumph Bonneville was first produced in T120 and T140 forms from 1959 to 1983, totalling 24 years. The "new" Bloor-era Hinckley Bonneville has been produced from 2001 to the present day, so 23 years. I know Chris will be aware of this from his work with Triumph, but it's pretty cool that the new Bonneville will soon have been around longer in its current form than in the first, and shows no sign of being removed from the model lineup. Should we still think of it as a fad?
Revving the living daylights out of it is the fun part for me. It's just like an old Honda VTEC car like the one with the K20 I own. It's not the fastest but it's just so much fun.
Mate - i love the RS660 platform so much that I know now have two for the track (trofeo and a standard) Question is, how will this stack up on the track?!
I get what you're saying about missing the point with 140bhp, but for those of us who fancy coming away from litre bikes (I own an S1000RR and love it, but...), we really feel a few more ponies than the middleweight 100-120bhp standard would help our laziness for that 'get you home without the gearshift tap dance' end of day riding. 200bhp plus may be pointless, but the handling and quality of brakes and electronics on those bikes aren't. Superbikes still look the dogs, so perhaps there's a market for Gixxer750 levels of power and handling?
@@BikeWorldTVshow I think hot cake sales numbers would be smashed if any of the manufacturers, let alone Suzuki (can't see it happening from them), create a 140bhp, quality chassis and gucci braked modern super sport/bike with sub 200kg and killer electronics. Personally I'd buy something like a 140bhp S800RR over my S1000RR all day long and well into the night.
He did a track day video for beginners on a ZX-6R a while ago. Then a track day video for advanced riders on a GSXR 1000R. Have a look for them, they’re well worth a watch 👍
For me, dream 2024 bike😍 I like peaky delivery, WOT, and wailing delivery, road or track. 1 litre at Castle Combe is just too much like hard work at my age!! But agree with other comments, do some stretching, pilates, surfing, whatever and stay fit, no reason why you cant ride supersport into later years👴👍
Love the smaller bikes on track. I end up battling 600s on my rsv1000rr twin and it is a great laugh. As you say - focus on corner speed and less on point and squirt.
Don’t say we. I like many others didn’t forget. We never stopped riding or cleaning or buying or loving sports bikes. Don’t say WE. Many many many people have always loved sports bikes and always will. No matter how old and knackered we get!

It depends. Sports bikes are great when your country has excellent road quality or access to race tracks. In India, our roads are not as great however, it is a treat for offroad enthusiasts. So a adventure bike or a dirt style or scrambler bikes are the best choices.
As a 2008 600RR owner, the 2024(European) 600RR is my new dream bike! Sadly they are costing 19.000€ here in Finland.... Just way, waaaaaaay too much. I love a sport bike too, I get it they aren’t most comfortable but man they are fun and they make you happy. I keep a cruiser and a sports bike most my life and it’s very satisfying.
Nice to see some of the Japanese brands willing to carry on the 600cc production bikes, great power to weight for the road too.
600's are so satisfying to ride on the road, you have to work them to make swift progress, so involving.
I loved my 600 SRAD ❤
Had a MT 09 , and trade for this new Cbr , what a machine !
The weight is pretty surprising but I'm really happy to see a real sportsbike back in Europe
Revving the living daylights out of it is the fun part for me. It's just like an old Honda VTEC car like the one with the K20 I own. It's not the fastest but it's just so much fun.
800 miles on mine so far and i flipping love it
4:48 this statement is so true
I'm 72 and love my BMW s1000rr and R6 powered fz6.
Yeah, I am getting one early next year as my 2nd/track bike. It's a no brainer, thanks Honda.
@@jockmcjock8411 are we ready for a new GSXR750?
@@BikeWorldTVshow I think hot cake sales numbers would be smashed if any of the manufacturers, let alone Suzuki (can't see it happening from them), create a 140bhp, quality chassis and gucci braked modern super sport/bike with sub 200kg and killer electronics. Personally I'd buy something like a 140bhp S800RR over my S1000RR all day long and well into the night.
Awesome review guys, when are we going to see Chris up on a road review of the 24 RR-R Blade? 😎
I like to see you on a Kawasaki ZX-6R
It's coming!
That's the comparison video to do (2024 inline-4-cylinder 600 sportbikes)...
But agree with other comments, do some stretching, pilates, surfing, whatever and stay fit, no reason why you cant ride supersport into later years👴👍
This is a bike to buy and keep for life. Deals like this and bikes like this won’t exist in the future with the drive for electric everything
Love the smaller bikes on track. I end up battling 600s on my rsv1000rr twin and it is a great laugh. As you say - focus on corner speed and less on point and squirt.
Imagine fitting HRC Race Kit parts, Lacomoto CFRP bodywork and airbox, etc.
Great bike, good wins at Aberdare too.
Don’t say we. I like many others didn’t forget. We never stopped riding or cleaning or buying or loving sports bikes. Don’t say WE.
Many many many people have always loved sports bikes and always will. No matter how old and knackered we get!
@@christaylor5924 chill out mate!
@ 😂😂 sorry that wasn’t an angry rant it was more of an impassioned homage to sports bikes. They’re wonderful. Always were always have been. Love the channel guys 👍🏻
@ No worries, we haven’t either but it seems a lot of people have.
Beautiful. Is that Scotland? I'd love to do a bike trip from Germany to Inverness next year.
It depends. Sports bikes are great when your country has excellent road quality or access to race tracks. In India, our roads are not as great however, it is a treat for offroad enthusiasts. So a adventure bike or a dirt style or scrambler bikes are the best choices.
Honda is doing amazing in 2024/25
I miss my old orange 2007 ZX6R, a true screamer, after 7000 rpm, it came alive!
Great review, I sold my naked bike for this one.
I just love the audaciousness.....ness. Brilliant
I have a RS660. Different concept but same idea. Light sport bikes rock!
I've got an 04 600RR and strangely, would absolutely love one of these to go alongside it, lol.
As a 2008 600RR owner, the 2024(European) 600RR is my new dream bike! Sadly they are costing 19.000€ here in Finland.... Just way, waaaaaaay too much.
But dude, how about you guys go to the track with the 2007-8 model (until now the best ever made) and the 2024 model? Im really curious to see the times....
Great review. I’m annoyed Honda doesn’t bring these updated ones to the U.S. We still get the same one from the 2010s
