My ferritin is 21 and I have started iron supplements per my dr. I have mild hypothyroidism, TSH of a little over 5.0. My T4 and T3 are on the low end of normal. I think this could be due to having heavy periods. Hope increasing the iron works to help my thyroid. I found other videos saying iron is important for the T4 to T3 conversion.

    Thank you so much!
My ferritin levels came at 40 and the medication was not working no matter how much I increase it.
My total and free t3 is always low normal.
Started taking Iron. Hope this works for me.

Thank you so much for all your videos! I have been begging my dr for a full thyroid panel and she continues to insist that i only need the standard tsh test. I take levothyroxine and ive actually gone down from 112mcg to 88mcg and i think much of that has to do with a total overhaul of my diet. Im intermittent fasting, cut processed foods ,cut out wheat, cut sugar, only eat healthy fats, no seed oils, low carb. Ive also started making kimchi, sauerkraut & kefir, which i consume regularly. I still have constipation, my hair is very dry and getting thinner all the time. My hands and feet are ALWAYS cold, i have zero sex drive. Also, my fingers often look pruny as if ive soaked in a hot tub without soaking in one. I am at my wits end with drs. (This is my 4th one in 6 years) it feels criminal and lazy that drs refuse to do any further testing. I asked to be referred to the endocrinologist and was told "that's not how it works". When i expressed concern about my hair i was told to look at her hair (the doctors) and that mine was in much better condition than hers. As if the condition of her hair had any relevance whatsoever to the condition of mine. Basically it was like telling me to stop complaining.
I want to try ANYTHING natural (armor thyroid, etc) but she refuses to stray from synthetic. This is essentially what i have experienced with the drs at kaiser Permanente.
At this time i can't afford to see a functional medicine dr but it's definitely my goal! Right now, i am just trying my best to drink clean water, eat healthy and ive also added lugols iodine 3 drops per day. Im sorry for the long winded post. Just wanted to thank you for all your helpful information!

OMG! Thrown on meds 14yrs ago. my ferritin was 7!!! an integrative doctor, both of them. Not one of them said to me take more iron or get an iron iv. in the meantime, horrible crippling fatigue. Not until my cycles stopped did it get better? Paid big money to get better from “professionals” and mostly figured it out for myself.
