A couple of suggestions: - being able to set keyswitches to latching - being able to use the non-pre-recorded slides with a keyswitch rather than the auto slide function because sometimes you might want to overlap notes without sliding
I said it repeatedly yesterday and I keep saying it today! Odin 3 is a BEAST! Having gotten more time with Odin 3 and some sleep on top of that to process I truly am blown away at this advancement in y'all's work as I have been with each sampler before it, but all the more with Odin 3. The Chord Delay and Huminization features might be some of my personal favorite features. Again, thank you for this wonderful tool Maxime! Well done Solemn Tones!
I have been using The Odin Deluxe and Odin 2 for years, it is truly a metal writers wet dream. I cannot express how excited I am to dive into Odin 3! Thank you for all of the time and work you've committed to these plugins.
Great walkthrough! Just bought this yesterday, and have been loving it so far! Only thing I can't figure out how to do yet, is get those Meshuggah type sounding overtone ring-offs from palm mutes. Like the chugs. Killer work though. You guys have done an incredible job!
Bought it and like it a lot. One thing that I think could improve the performance capabilities a lot would be to have the knobs/switches Midi learnable. That way you could bring in Vibrato whenever you need with just a midi CC instead of fixed DAW autmation. Great product overall.
Did not expect this… Odin II sounds great but had a few limitations that had me going to different guitars in some circumstances. I was just thinking yesterday how I wish it had a string select feature. Looking forward to hopefully using Odin even more now 👀
The timing on this is insane. Literally JUST started a new project under my artist name for the Electronic Music I produce. Was playing actual guitar to come up with riffs then rewrite the MIDI with Odin II in Ableton - (same method as I do for my live/metal band projects/releases) - and incorporate some metal into this new Dubstep-like Electronic project. Unfortunately, gotta wait until next paycheck, a couple days out, but this track is gonna hit heavier and SO much better than I was imagining when I use the newer Odin instead!!! I guess I’ll just keep writing the ‘basic’ MIDI for the guitar parts and when this bad mf gets brought in, THEN the specific sounds, patterns, styles, etc will come into play. Cant wait! Another badass plugin dude! Loki, Odin, Mjolnir, and Fenrir are part of my premade template every single time, and has never failed to bring my tracks to life, sounding just like I want them.
Really sick upgrade and can't wait to try it out! I was curious what the lowest sampled note here was. The default tuning seems to be F# but it can go as low as C1. Is the default F# the lowest open string note that was sampled and the lower ones are pitch shifted down from those samples, or were they all setup and actually recorded at that pitch?
It was recorded down to F and then pitched down. If we A/B this, the pitched version is actually tighter than recording the samples and needing even thicker strings. But obviously it can also be personal preference :)
Even guitarists can use it to write, do pre-pro, make demos on the road, etc.. We’ve had customers with disabilities who lost their ability to play but still get to write this way, etc.. Lots of reasons guitarists can use this :)
This is great. A couple questions: How would you automate Force Vibrato so it can be toggled on or off as necessary since it's not a keyswitch? And how does the auto slide work when you overlap two notes? Should the new note start when you want the slide to start from, or should the previous note extend into the new note? Do other things need to be turned on or off for this to work? It just sounds weird when I'm doing it. And will you have a written technical manual describing how all these features work? Thank you!!!
I'd be interested in a bass guitar VSTi that is as fully featured as this one is. Another great feature would be a step sequencer feature (like able to choose from 1 - 16 or 32 bars. And being able to save selectable A thru D sections/patterns for each instance). A good, intuitive step sequencer with scales and drag & drop midi can make programming very fast solo's much easier. Thats my vote for future feature requests lol
I appreciate the "Auto Chord Delay." That's been a big time eater for my writing. How long is the sustain? Is using midi from Guitar pro the same as Odin 2, just have to flip the "octave drop" switch? I'm curious to see how the "force vibrato" works. Will that be keyswitch activated as well? Because you probably don't want all the notes in a lead section to have vibrato.
The sustain is much much longer than Odin 2. It obviously varies from note to note as an open string can ring far longer than a 24th fret, but you can rest assured sustain on your chords and such will not be an issue. There is no octave drop switch anymore so you'd have to manually move all notes 12 semitones by highlighting them. The reason for this is that Odin 3 has SO many articulations, we could never fit them onto the midi spectrum when losing an octave. In essence, if a library matches guitar pro's octaves, it's impossible that it has as many articulations as Odin 3 does. Force vibrato can be automated on/off but is not keyswitch activated. Not all notes in a lead section would have a vibrato, since you can make them start late into the note with the attack knob. That said, worst case, it can just be automated on/off.
I just bought Odin 3 and I love it. I'm new to using midi guitar so I'm sure I'm just doing something wrong but when I switch it to DI and add a guitar amp sim the panning seems to go from wide to narrow. How would I go about fixing this? Thanks!
I just wanted to make sure on something with the tunings in Odin 3: I normally tune my 8 string down a step and a half to Eb with the lowest string. Odin 3 can go to notes this low and produce the pitch, right? It's just that those low notes might not be represented on the virtual fretboard, which essentially doesn't matter for the actual sound output
Hi there, the only problem with adding these would be that the string selection keyswitches would then attempt to pull from fret/sample combinations that don't even exist. The tuning section is purely a visual aid and has no impact on the available notes, so making it break certain other features would be a problem.
Is there a setting for how far bends go and is there a release bend? Like if I want to bend up a whole step and release it back down to the original note. Is that in there or do I need to use pitch automation in the daw?
+2 -2 bends are very usable, but in some fringe cases I'd like to be able to go +12 for those ridiculous thall high notes without needing an external pitch shifter.
I've been using Odin 3 for a few days now and all features are as advertised, but I find myself constantly having to go back to Odin 2 specifically for sustained palm mutes. Even the most open palm mutes available in the sample library of Odin 3 die out too quickly. Hopefully an update comes where this is fixed
Hi there, we sampled new long held out palm mutes the past 2 weeks and are adding them to the engine as we speak. Odin 3.1 will come in a few weeks with these, along with a bunch of other new features :)
When we recorded the samples, the Evertune ensured the strings don't go sharp on the impact of the pick. This is a big challenge in recording aggressive metal guitars.
Odin 3 goes down to an octave below drop C so should be able to play 9 string riffs flawlessly. And given it has a baritone scale, it will already hold down those tunings very well.
I was really excited to see the new Odin 3 plugin and the features it brings to the table. However, when you introduced the String Select feature at 5:27, I noticed something that caught my attention. While listening, it sounded like the guitar had a very muffled attack-the pick noise wasn't coming through at all. Interestingly, I saw that the Soft Attack feature was turned off in the plugin, so there shouldn’t be any additional smoothing or curves affecting the sound. Could there be another reason for this sound characteristic? Perhaps it's related to the new samples or some settings in the amp sim? This isn't the kind of sound I'd expect from a guitar simulation, especially when aiming for a realistic and articulate performance. Any insights or adjustments to achieve a more natural attack would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your hard work and innovation in guitar plugins!
You have no idea how stoked I am on this ❤ Can’t wait to give it a try in the new productions!

Thanks to the string selection features, you can simply use the 6 thinnest strings for your whole song and utilize it as if it's a 6 string.
@@SolemnTones gotcha. So if I program a drop-C (CGCFAD) on a 6-string guitar in Guitar Pro it would work just fine?
