Ohio released the 10 year Rey Sol at the beginning of April. I’m already thinking of getting another bottle because it’s just too good. Worth every penny. It was my first XA and now I want them all.
Had them all except the Diablito. Been on the fence on buying it, but will buy it for sure now. All excellent choices Mr. Mark! If I had to make it a top 10 list, I would add Pasote XA, Terralta XA, and Cascahuin XA.
@@latashasanders2103 we just did the Mayan ruins tour. It was well done and we just shopped at the pier after the tour. The boat docked early in the morning, and we left for Galveston about 5 PM the same day
Very good list. The only one I have not had is the san Matias so I need to grab a bottle of that especially for the price. I would swap out the two el tasoros for g4 xa and don fulano 5 year. But I love the rest of the list. I am excited to try my new 10 year rey sol, I love the regular. I am also still waiting for the right time to open the cazcanes.
Awesome review and the XA's you covered are absolutely fantastic. The only one I haven't tried and don't have on my shelf is the Tapatio. I really need to give it a try. I highly recommend all of these XA's to anyone wanting a solid XA
I'm still on a learning curve with XA's and have only tried 3 before. But all 3 just happen to be in your Top 7 (El Tesoro Paradiso (my fave), San Matias Gran Reserva (not my fave but still like a lot) and Tapatio Excellencia (a close second to my fave)). I'm aiming to try Tears of Llorona soon (and greatly suspect I'll like it). Will definitely add the others to the wish list. As always, thanks for the great info and insight Mark!
Im not to big on barrel influence, but I have had all here but the Rey Sol 10 year. The only one I would change out here is G4 5 year for the Tears. I just can't find myself to like Tears. There's no tequila left in it. Great video, thanks Hombre!
I just ordered the Cazcanes xa ltd edition. I love el tesoro, tears of llorona. Not a big fan of san matias. Tapatio is unopened in my collection. I am surprised however gran patron burdeos was not even a contender in your list. I had quite a few bottles over the years. Great with a good mild cohiba cigar
Another spot-on tequila expression list from "THE" Hombre. Your roadmaps are a great guide to explore tequilas. Good to see options up and down the price ladder. I am sure you struggled with extending the list with just a few more names like G4 and Sieta Leguas (lucky 7 is a good number). Do you know why Fortaleza doesn't offer XA?
Last time I asked Guillermo about it, he explained that every barrel of Anejo he has is bought before it's filled. So there is no time to aged anything longer. They built a new barrel room so maybe we will see an XA from them in the near future.
No one talks about Mandala tequila. They're not that big but they're definitely worth it. Their extra anejo is my personal favorite alcohol of all time.
That is because Mandala has additives to make it taste good. Most people who like natural tasting tequila don't like it and won't drink it. Its more for the people who like sweet tequila.
@@TheTequilaHombre The CRT permits 1% of additives for those that have the "100% agave" label on it. It's mostly the process and aging that make it sweet but I get it. You don't like sweet tequila and that's fine.

How does the San Matias compare to Patrón Anejo for sipping neat? Thank you! 😃🙂 Only one on the list in my price range. Ha. Haven’t even tried the Patron Extra Anejo as the Anejo is about as much as I can spend!
Hi tequila hombre great vid thanks. You know by me here in Chicago the el tesoro anejo went crazy in price from like $46 to $90 I’d be scared to ask what the price would be for the extra anejo. Is that just a little out of balance or maybe inflation or maybe just plain greed don’t know?
Yep. They are doing the price increase across the country. Most really good Añejos run in the $80 - $90 range. They are just adjusting the price to bring it up to where it should be. It hasn't had a real price increase in at least a decade..
Being a Tequila drinker for the last 45 years I love the explosion of choices in the last couple of decades. My concern is Anjeo’s pricing themselves out of the market. $100 - $200+ on avg. ?
I've been looking for a nice Extra Anejo to buy for my birthday coming up. Debating if I should go with the Tears of Llorona at $220, or the Dulce Vida Extra Anejo 5 years, 100 proof at $140. Let me know what your thoughts are. Thanks!
Yes, They did a price adjustment to bring it up to other brands in the same quality group. It was a bargain before. it's still worh buying. It's an amazing extra anejo.

Great list. Excelencia is my favorite, followed by Diablito and then Tears. I have yet to try Rey Sol but this is the year!

Cuervo Familia Extra Añejo is one of my favorites

Lots of additives in that though...I drink it as a digestive after dinner cause of the sugar they put in it.

Don Abraham XA at a price point under $100 is a bargain. Also, would like to see a review of Siete Leguas D’ Antano.

Just wanted to know if you've had the Clase Azul Ultra Tequila. And what are your thoughts on ultra expensive tequila.
Yes. It's not worth it. It's too s weet and not natural tasting. Don't waste your money on. It.
San Matías Gran Reserva is a well priced AND UNDER-APRECIATED EXTRA AÑEJO TEQUILA.

Wouldn't the cinnamon and baking spices come from the oak, I've never tasted any of that from a Blanco.
No. Cooked agave tastes like cinnamon and baking spices. Wood imparts vanilla, caramel and chocolate notes typically.
