    Truly a Solid list! I enjoy all of those mentioned. The only one I have no experience tasting is Suave, but its on my list now. I'd add to this list G4 and 123 Tequila Anejo.

    I remember when Fortaleza did the extra anejo mix on the Lot 42/43 - A. So grateful to have purchased that bottle

      @@iamdougprice Thanks for ur reply....really enjoy the channel. Are all your podcasts here on RUclips? Meanwhile I often struggle with Anejos as they are prone (imo) to excess barrel influence and I'll never understand the apparent widespread use of "Jack and Jim" barrels for aging... those products are disgusting. I'm excited to see the agave industry start to innovate with different barrels like the whiskey industry does now. I'd love to see things like cider, rye whiskey or Port casks used for example. Salud and thanks for allowing me to soap box a little.

    Love your information to help a poor old man make the right buys in choosing tequilas, Anejos remind me of good bourbons. Wondrring, I seem to find knowing the blanco first make the Reposado snd Anejos more enjoying, maybe just me??

    If the barrel you're using at home was purchased from Amazon, you got ripped off and your final product will be wood tannin and bitter. The barrels they sell are used-up barrels that have been sterilized and refreshed to look like they're new use but they're not, so all the compounds that a barrel would normally impart to a spirit are missing and the only thing you're going to get is bitter wood tannins. Better to age in a glass or stainless steel bottle with properly toasted and charred wood staves inserted in it. Much better result than using one of those depleted barrels though it admittedly doesn't look as cool.

    I have a question, I have never been much of a whisky/scotch drinker with limited experience cant say I enjoy it all that much, I tried a bottle of Hornitos Anejo and absolutely hated it. Do you think it would be wise for me to try an expensive bottle of Anejo tequila or just stick with repasado? I like to think I have a good palette as I only eat very dark chocolate and i stay away from sugary things.

    • @iamdougprice
      @iamdougprice  Год назад

      I would definitely stay away from hornitos as it is junky mass produced tequila. I would try a good quality Anejo. Price doesn’t dictate quality. Try to find Suerte, Terralta, Insolito( it will have some whiskey vibes because of the barrels) Gran Dovejo as well. All have excellent Anejos that are well priced.

    Suavecito is really smooth and on the sweet side. My favorite is Jose Cuervo "La Familia Reserva" Extra Anejo ($150-200)

    I tried the suerte repersado and the General DIaz blanco, it’s made with additives and sweetener gave me a headache. I thought is was additive and sweetener free.

    I purchase the suerte repersado today it’s very sweet like it has sweetner and additives I’m not impressed. I thought it was additive free.

      G4 is an amazing brand. Sadly the Anejo from them is my least favorite in the line up. Still solid but a handful of other Anejos I’d pick over it. Thanks for watching.
