    I’ve learned a lot since I first got into tequila and I wish I had seen this sooner. I’ve been buying much better stuff for several years now and am happier for it. These days my go to is Arette blanco. It appeals to MY palate more than some of the more celebrated brands and it’s a great value.

  • @Saki630

    As a noob, and for someone who doesnt 'like' or has never had tequila, I would give them the sweeter stuff. Cava de Oro is my gateway drug for noobs. They cant believe it tastes that good and think its #1. Once they are convinced that Tequila has promise, then you can give them a really good blanco like Lalo to show them where the actual Tequila floor starts. The quality of the Water in Lalo makes a big difference in how it feels in the mouth, to the point that it allows your tongue to pull out the sweetness that was always present in tequila before additives. From there you do as Lou says and climb the ladder of the good stuff. Be warned that some of this good stuff is not for amateur drinkers because they will say its too strong/powerful/hot because they have not yet drank the bottom of the barrel stuff from which to form their own opinion. The best is at the 50% and higher alcohol content, 55-60% straight from the copper still's in Jalisco is the ultimate best. Sipping on that fresh highproof tequila immediately numbs your tongue, warms your mouth, draws out cane sugar sweetness from the agave, and zero burn as you drink and exhale.

    • @longislandloutequila7208
      @longislandloutequila7208  6 месяцев назад +3

      I agree for the most part, but what I try to do is show newbies a sweet tequila, but something additive free, maybe aged in a cognac barrel or something, to try to get them hooked into the good stuff right off the bat. I agree it doesn't always work, and sometimes you have to start at the bottom, but it's worth a try I flipped a few right into the good stuff from the get-go, and they appreciated saving the time and the money

    A huge problem, in my experience down here in Houston, is that if I go to a Total Wine or Spec's they are either undereducated on the spirit/are made to push certain ones. I'm guessing this is all over the country in retailers with few exceptions.

    • @longislandloutequila7208
