I just bought this book in Target for my 6 1/2 year-old boy four days ago. Didn’t realize he wrote it. 😅 It’s a beautiful book. Black people need more books like this. 🙂
I think everyone needs more books like this. For different reasons. I also think people forget that these issues aren’t US specific. In Brasil - we just approached these problems differently. There is less fear of losing power and it allowed us to move forward with more grace. I digress. It’s a beautiful book.
I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Sellers a few years ago and he is an incredible person. He is 100% accurate about this generation having no empathy. My own children can not relate to the struggle my grandparents went through in Europe as Jews and their struggle to get out and come to America!
facts.. color blindness needs to be reversed. I need you to see my color and my culture and not to underestimate me. See my skill and my unique perspective.
I agree with him there's nothing wrong with learning about where other people come from. Learning their history and their culture and I agree colorblindness in that sense shouldn't really be taught. We should be aware of other people and having that empathy does help us to understand each other a lot better because there is an appalling lack of that that's why there's so much racism
It's not anti-intellectual it's anti-black. I blame my own ppl bc it's too much turning the other cheek. Every time they ban one of ours, we should ban one of theirs. Being nice has failed for 400yrs.

The anti-blackness of America is unique. We have spent so much time taking what has happened to specifically black people and said no minority should suffer these offenses. Which is true but we continue to fail blackness and the hatred it uniquely receives. America has an anti-blackness issue, not just a race problem.
While what you say is definitely true, It's the same with every underclass. It's been the same with the "lower" castes in India. I believe it's the same in Japan. Read the book "Caste" by Wilkerson.
@@danni1993 sure but the USA set the president and sustained its dehumanization of black people for the longest time in the modern era. Globally countries are taking cues from how America treats black people.

Here’s something amazing I’m noticing. I’m catching up on my Trevor Noah from the last two weeks and loved this segment. I like to read the comments to see what my fellow humans have yo say, but I noticed that almost every single episode with another black person has a fraction of the views that have white or non-black guest. What does this say? Joe Rogan got over 1 million views, yet something this powerful has less than 50k?! We have a looooooong way to go it might seem 😔
That is interesting. I tend to think that more viewers want to see 'train wrecks' and the AA guests TN brings on are anything but...Joe Rogan, on the other hand...😐
Yeah that promissory note as Dr. King called it has no value. It's the reason Kaepernick took a knee at all those games. He wasn't seeing the America as the America it could be. The America we were promised. It could be so much more but keeps falling short.
Bakari Sellers has been so privileged and experienced such preferential treatment, that the idea of being treated as an equal seems like discrimination.
Maybe try doing real Social Studies classes with Anthropological approach. Ethnographies of different ethnic groups including ones own if they know. I have had students who honestly didn't know their own ancestry other than being born in the U.S. So maybe even have classes with a bit of genealogy. Have kids do presentations on their own ethnicity and 2 others that they research...
@@titanman33 We did something similar in 8th grade in very rural Illinois in 1976. Mr. Schumacher's class at Franklin Grove Elementary School... part of the bicentennial celebrations.
So I worked at a Hotel in South Carilina where Bakari Sellers was a regular, never paid his bill the entire year I was there, and often came late night with escorts. I'm sure some of those escorts, who were high end BTW, were paid by him ,however how much do you think went on the his "business" account.
He is wrong - "color blind" means that that I see you as a human .... nothing more nothing less...you will understand it once you start working for a MNC or at a place with lot of diversity ...
Until people learn all the colors, things are still bleak. Look at those two guys, they're called black. Other than their garments none of them is black. And then we come to white! We need a lesson about colors.
Is pride really what you want to transmit? You should be proud of your upbringing, of the pros of your culture...but you should also be aware of your flaws and the pros other cultures/countries/educations/backgrounds/etc can give you. Black pride is as bad as white pride. It is defined by racial contours, and the baseline for racism.

I love Bakari, such a smart dude who gets the illnesses of America like House diagnosing a patient
I love House. May start watching that show again!!
Guys got his priorities right. Hope he does return to office in the future.
Don't forget about our First Nations too! Great show Trevor 👏
Take care of your kids and your wife 🙏🏾 🙌🏾
I loved watching him debating on CNN. Bright handsome young man! Would be the perfect replacement for Jim Clyburn.

My first Investment with Expert William's Armstrong has earned me profits of over $24,320 us dollars and ever since then he has been delivering.
😢I lost £1200 carelessly trading on a platform then i was referred to Mr William's and he recovered the loss and made an extra profit of £7600.
Yes I have worked with 4 traders in the past but none of them are as efficient as he is , his trading strategies are awesome..
