My favorite part of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon was when the Fire of Rubicon said “Fire is on Rubicon” and John Core walked up to him and said “No, Armor is on the Core” and they fired Rubicon leaving him homeless.

8:01 "Sortie" comes from French and basically means "outing". But in the context of the game, it's when an AC gets out of its hangar to go on a mission.

I've heard it used in other games/anime/etc., so it's used, but not enough to be widespread
in military simulator games it basically just means you going out..on whatever mission the game tells you to do. Just like in AC6, it ranges from you simply going out to collect data, or blasting an entire installation apart.
@@eveakane6563 Yeah, to my knowledge, it's pretty specific to stories involving mechas. I saw it being used in Sidonia no Kishi, for instance.
@@gr13v0u5 Its also used in flight sim games like Project: Wingman or Ace Combat, so I'm assuming its just a general part of militaristic airfield terminology that's been adapted by mecha genre.
I love how shen says the headpiece that Rusty's mech has looks hot, also picks the same legs as Rusty's mech, and THEN goes to the wall and meets Rusty.

I don't know anyone who doesn't start start loving Rusty from the get-go. He's pretty much the Solaire of the game while having the benefit of not being in a Souls games, meaning he's less cryptic and gets to have more than 10 minutes of screen-time. It's refreshing, and it's something I really liked about Sekiro as well.

The good news about characters in this game is that because we never see any of them outside an AC or a profile picture, character art has some real room for random. Although the community has decided on a few things like Ayre having white hair and Rusty being hot.

ALLMIND basically has a Canon appearance now because a single artist and everyone else going "yup its canon". So canon in fact that even her JP voice actress tweeted to say it's cool with her.

Which is a bit weird considering Ayre is the only character we do actually see.
Conveying scale can be a tricky thing for mech games. Especially when the mech is as fast and sleek as an Armored Core. But it is a good sign for the art direction when it does convey that scale. To make you fully appreciate that you are driving a giant robot who can sunder walls and shatter homes with mass at velocity alone, even before breaking foes with weapons.
The amount of times you stand next to 4 story catwalks and military vehicles in this game is beautiful.
I'm a month late, I know. But fun fact, everything in AC is like..rendered and drawn to scale. The mechs are actually 13 meters tall instead of making everything on a smaller scale. If that makes sense at all. It's 3am as I'm writing this haha
It was not even 5 seconds after I had the thought, "Man, I bet she's gonna love rusty." That shen sees his head peice in the shop and goes,"This one's kinda hot."

“This game feels huge.” It actuslly is, too. They did everything to scale, it isn’t just a camera/perspective trick to make everything look bigger. For context the ACs are around 10 meters tall
Someone, name of Zullie, even demonstrated that they're to scale in Elden Ring's map too, taking advantage of how From's games tend to share the same engine. LOADER 4 is huge!

Apparently things are actually proportionate and not super scaled up. Zullie did a video showing the player from Elden Ring exploring one of the AC 6 maps and everything was the right size while porting the smallest AC 6 enemies were the size of the giant crabs
Some of the environment scaling within AC 6 isn't quite right, but the models do have specific sizes. The Ice Worm stretches across entire chunks of the map in Elden Ring.

The fact that Shenpai is literally playing this game for the first time. As I’ve played the whole campaign and game myself, it’s kinda nice to see a first-timer play and learn about the game themselves and have fun with both the tech and customization it offers

The voices overlap is surprisingly very thematic for this game
I love how no matter what she plays, no matter how unVoxer it is. That Twink managed to wiggle his way into it.
There's the reverse controller grip, but with M&K now there's also the sideways mouse grip.
This sounded like a shit post till I realized that just holding your mouse wrong would stop it moving and removing your hard lock.

@@IoFoxdalesoftlock is decently better than hardlock at tracking enemies so if you are using m&k anyway you should at least take advantage of mouse camera controls with softlock
@@kingpanguan oh I don’t use hardlock at all but it does turn some of the light vs light fights into a looney tunes dust cloud
@@IoFoxdale That is the worst part of this system. If you move your mouse the game will switch targets which is understandable but it shouldn't do that when there is only one target in the area. However, you can try to hold the mouse upside-down instead of hovering it by a little if that make your wrist feel sore.

Oh my gosh I love this so much. The chaotic screaming really sums up the AC VI experience, as well as everyone talking over each other. I had to mute voice volume in one boss fight because I had not one, but TWO NPCS BACKSEATING ME. You're gonna have a good time.
I really hope you keep playing this game and sharing it with us. Everyone else playing right now is in one of two houses: "I've got this figured out here's how to win" and "I HATE THIS STUPID GAME IT'S SO BAD." You've got that vibe of "I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm having fun and we're figuring it out" and it's such a nice change of pace.

If you're talking about the boss fight I think you're talking about, I almost did the same thing, because they weren't even providing useful advice it was just "hey fight back! defend yourself! Don't die!"

This was a strangely wholesome spin on watching someone play this game. But then "strangely wholesome" does seem to be the catchphrase of most of Shen's content.

Armored Core is a wonderful way for Shenpai to placate her intensely disruptive armor fetish.
The reverse grip is an older AC meme that was spawned from the fact that the button mapping for vertical camera movement in the first... two (?) generations of the series was absolutely atrocious and some people claimed that the game was actually more playable if you held the controller upside down because that would allow you easier access to all the required buttons.

I hope Shenpai continues to play this game. Being someone who's only ever played the PS2 Armored Cores, her experience with the first mission neatly mirrored my own in "What did I press?! Why am I speed?! HELP!" and then getting bullied by Dark Souls Muscle Memory trying to fight the Filter Copter.
Shen playing this game is equivalent with driving manually with no experience at all and touching everything in the controls until later on things make sense all of the sudden.
The best part of finally getting a new Armored Core is seeing all the newcomers getting their first taste of mecha awesomeness.
I cannot WAIT to see Shenpai develop horniness for mechs, like Dark Souls and armored guys

This is the right attitude to play AC in... although it gets brutally hard if you never figure out what you're doing. Heck, even if you know what you're doing there's hard parts.
I played armored core 2 on ps2 a shit ton growing up. I basically bullied my way through. Sometimes I knew what I was doing. Other times I just chose violence and WENT

Fun armored core fact: It's on the same engine as Elden Cock Ring, meaning modders have ported models over. The game is accurately modelled to scale, meaning if you were to port the maps, you pretty much would have to spend forever just to run across the small ones as a normal human instead of a Raven

The reverse grip was a major thing during Armored Core 2’s time. That game had no Joystick controls whatsoever forcing your movements to be on the D-pad :P.

Sortie means to launch, particularly an aircraft into a mission.
Similar to how spaceships use naval terminology, mechs use fighter terminology.
Might watch more Shenpai. Commentary is my preferred amount of chaos, panic, and honesty with this.

The fact that no one brought up you can fully draw and create your own decals to upload so we could have pin up twink voxer on the mech like they used to do with tanks is a crime
