I've have had the same harbor freight impact sockets for 15 years. With no problems.
The tow company I work at bought a 2001 Kenworth w900L with the same engine straight piped. It came with 7 inch straight pipes. The truck is now a tow truck. We put a 2017 Miller industries 75 ton rotator on it. It was before one of our heavy haul trucks and it is our most powerful truck. It makes 600 (stock) we upgraded it and put power into it. It now makes 1000hp. Yep. Really badass truck. The CAT engine is an amazing engine. Greg, Buy some straight pipes for it. It’ll sound great
That small tank is the wet tank air goes there first before primary and secondary to catch most of the moisture ur main air line goes from comp to dryer then to wet tank
Heck with it I love Harbor Freight. Have yet to be let down by anything from there.

all trucks should have 3 air tanks lol primary, secondary, and your wet tank which makes the "chhhhhh" sound when it cuts out your compressor at full psi , loving this content man cheers from canada

That motor is called a Apu unit. it's the heating an AC for the sleeper while truck isn't running

A nice set of straight pipes, a drop visor and some nice led lights and you have yourself an amazing unit! Oh, and paint the new roof cap and fenders a nice matching colour to really make the truck stand out! edit #4:I keep coming back when I think of more things to make it cool haha. It would also look good with a nice set of full fenders out back. Plus if you are going to day cab it you will want fenders unless you want rocks to come through your back window everytime you drive it. Full fenders make it look good and saves windows lol. I think this is the last idea, which is heavy steer tires (325 or bigger)

Ultra cab daycabs with extended cabs are the best. More leg room
Since moving tanks back, could do side pipes on each side, for ac sys, since going 36 sleeper could get day cab expansion valve setup an not worry about heat/ac in sleeper

Alcoa 22.5×12.25 , I move drilling rigs in northern Alberta and BC, canada. All our KW c5s and well every single truck we have has the flat front front wheels. But probably alot wider of a front tire than hes wanting to go to lowering it.

When it comes to the larger sockets and wrenches cheep works just fine and no need for expensive sockets

ive been using my HF impacts for at least 7 years day in and day out on heavy equipment ...using them as drivers, sockets, and welded to them, literally cant beat them for the price, never had one fail...PSA to all the guys that rave snapon, i use snapon myself but have broken more snapon tools than HF

We use a snapon 3/4" air gun with a deep 33mm socket for lug nuts on the hub pilot wheels.
If you find some smaller 120 gallon fuel tanks from a salvage yard or somewhere with that small sleeper you are about to put on should make the frame rail show a little more, because 150 gallon tanks are real long
I got a jack if you need to use one and also have jack stands. And call across the road at truck pro and see if they have u bolts. They’re pretty good at having just about anything you would need. And they are stupid cheap with exhaust pipe.

You should move the tanks back to under the sleeper and put steps with a battery box on drivers side and steps with toolbox on the passenger side
That third tank is your wet tank to your air supply (dont Greg A delete that) its crucial part of your air system

That small motor is an apu. Auxiliary power unit.
Looks like it comes with its own heater core under the sleeper and it’s own generator. That generator should produce equivalent to a 6500 watt apu. Easily.
Then produce heat in the cab.
Some even have their own ac compressor and evaporater and ac condenser under the bunk. So u get heat in winter and ac in summer with out running the truck.
They usually retail for 8-15k new installed. Depending on model. 2500-5500 used. Depending on hours and condition and maker.
Craigslist it. You may get some change for it from the right person.

It's an APU, auxiliary power unit. The most common brand is Thermo King
Harbor freight sockets are some of the strongest you will ever find. Have many mechanic friends that use them
I use Harbor Freight tools ever day and they're cheap and awesome

Most trucks have 3 air tanks, or 1 tank that has 3 sections in it. You have your wet tank, then primary and secondary. Wet tank is the first tank in the system!
all semi's have a form of 3 tanks... wet/supply, primary and secondary..
Run some straight pipes up to some 10" bull hauler or Aussie cut stacks. It will sound wicked especially when jaking. When you shift with the Jake it will sound mean. Keep up the good videos. This is the best channels on RUclips
If it's the wet tank you'll want to keep it for the air drier
Greg if your going to put prairie pipes on it becarful because if you drive on grass or pull off on the shoulder it will catch the grass on fire especially when exhaust temps are high!!!
You could put some small 3/4 in led lights they are a little dot but super bright i install those down the sides of the trailers every 12 inches it looks bad a$$ at night with over a 100 led lights
Yes the 379 looks good without a sleeper
But its just really useful to have a sleeper making trips no need for hotels and a with a sleeper painted

You need a resonator for your exhaust. It will deepen the sound when you straight pipe it. And your "little engine" is called a APU. Auxiliary Power Unit

Just first time visiting channel. Loved all the content for sure. Not exactly being new know where the Peterbilt builds going but. For myself the tanks need to be moved under the bunk and get new battery box steps. Looks so much nicer on a Petercar. Just my opinion.. great stuff anyhow.

Not sure how soon you’re going to find your sleeper, but I’ve seen trucks being shipped with plexiglass bolted in sleeper opening until the sleeper was installed
You’re headed in the right direction... I’m following... low long and less is more my friend!
More then likely the wheels on that truck is what they call budd wheels centered with the lug nuts the right socket you want to have to take them off is called a budd wheel socket the socket is an 1-1/2 with a 13/16 square drive on the inside to remove the rear wheels the outside wheel has a lug nut and the inside wheel is held on with a thimble lug nut threaded inside and outside and had a square on the end to remove them and on these types of wheels the left side of the truck is left hand threads and the right side is right hand threads. They also make a plastic ring that goes on the wheels to protect them from the socket scratching them
I believe that 3rd tank is the wet tank and if that’s the case I would not get rid of it because you will need it.

I have a 379 flat top with front mounted tanks, and im finding it next to impossible to find a 8 inch exhaust. so tempted to move my tanks backwards
Dang I need a y pipe and those shields lol air tabl setup is normal, the tool box is factory pete box just missing step. If lowering the front you have to lower the rear. Otherwise you throw the drive line angle out and start tearing up ujoints and yokes

Jake brake will sound a lot mor ferocious once you put larger diameter straight pipes and stacks on it. Best sound is with 8” stacks

Make a little roof and a cement floor for the Peterbilt outside so you can at least keep it under a roof. and if you would need to work on it you could put tools in a roll cart and work outside having air connections and power and lights
Truck is starting to look better already. Yea fleet pride never has anybody in on Saturday’s to do certain things. There usually good about keeping exhaust parts in stock though. Every time I’ve needed anything exhaust wise they’ve always had it. Thats where I got my 5” pipe for my truck and got a discount because it was damaged 16” on a 10’ stick, gave me a good deal on it.
If i could ever get one of these old Pete's i would build a actual truck bed that way i could have a truck that could haul anything lol

If your gonna remove that block on the front axle there might be a shim underneath it, or that block might be tapered. If you remove it your caster will be off.
Dude bro, 8" flattops, day cab low roof, car hauler front axle, bags, and clean up that tank/batt box situation and that thing is show truck ready...
harbor freight sockets are badasss and they have a lifetime warranty so its a no brainier
Dropping the front will require a caster adjustment after. It’s probably gonna cause problems cracking the pitman arm. It’s probably gonna cause problems with the pinion angles at the front rear end. I know guys who also had spring problems on the lead drive axle.
Do your research.
My uncle blew a cat engine by leaving the Jake brake on in between shifts. Probably not good to rev it with the Jake on. And engine in back is called a auxillary power unit (Apu). All trucks have 3 air tanks
I have the same truck, same engine, same sleeper, and the same problem. That big sleeper is just too big and heavy for my liking.
I want to put a coffin sleeper on, and put a big window in it so I can see out, but that tall cab is the problem.
I need the coffin sleeper for tool, and air hose storage, and so my Jack Russel has a place to hang out, and just in case I go work out of state at some point. But I like the tall cab.
My suggestion is to put two 100 gallon tanks back on the frame, where the sleeper is now, then the exhaust pipes can turn up right in front of the tanks instead of bending around the back of the tanks. If you put bigger tanks on , then you are really screwed with the pipe location.
Then move the battery box up under the drivers door, they make them with step lids, all your wires go through the sleeper now anyway, get your batteries closer to the cab, so your leads won't have to be so long.
Put a tool box with step on the passenger side under the door. I had an oil tank made for my wet kit that looks exactly like the right side tool box, step and all, holds 40 gallons. Works great.
7" stacks are the ticket, they have that sound, it's perfect, I had 8" on the truck when I bought it, all rusty and dented, it sounds better with 7 inchers now.
Truck is in better shape than mine is, BUT that 3 pedal Eaton 10 speed auto...............sacrilege..............🤢., you have to turn in your man card if you drive it.
If you are going to use that truck for doing any dirt work, end dump, side dump, you will HATE that tranny.
I drove one of those in a dump truck, of all things, talk about a bad idea, for 1 day, quit at the end of the day. The new auto's shift sooooo much faster than those did.
Don't even think of converting it over to a standard, you have to change the harness, the engine ECM, not a cost effective idea.
