The Oscars really need a Best Stunt category. They deserve all the love!
what are the Oscars never seen it
Will ruin cinema and kill loads of people. Everything will become michael bay with body bags.
They also need a best Voice acting catagory and best motion capture performance catagory so many amazing performances have been snubbed I would have loved to see Andy serkis get a nomination for playing Ceasar in the apes movies
I dont think they, there is a reason why they don't. They're very fearful people will die or seriously injure themselves in order to win an Oscar. Could create a lot of tragedies just because people want a piece of metal.
@Kieronic1989 I've heard this reasoning before and it's absolutely bogus. There is so many safety measures that you have to go through for any stunt and stuntpeople already die from stunts. Happened from Deadpool 2 and The Dark Knight just off the top of my head. So these people need to be honored and those after. Again lamest excuse. Ever.
A movie with both co stars of Barbie and Oppenheimer together. We now need a movie with Margot Robbie and Cillian Murphy together!
Can you imagine if it was also a romantic comedy
nah
Scarecrow & Harley Quinn movie incoming
unironically think that would be way less exciting than this
No we don't. Grow up
A lot of stunt people and coordinators don't want an Oscar category. The reason is that it is dangerous enough already without this idea that going bigger might win you an Oscar. It has been mentioned a few times by stunt people on the Corridor Crew couch. They absolutely deserve recognition for what they do, but a competition to outdo each other with something so dangerous isn't the way.
Yeah, I felt like the honorary Oscars would be a better place for recognizing stunt men and women. Kind of like a lifetime award for a certain actor or actress, I think we just need to recognize and admire the amazing stunt work that's been done over the years.
You can easily fix that by describing the category as something that not only requires stunts to be big. Maybe it's more about how it looks on screen than how difficult it was to achieve. Often the great stunts aren't really noticeable because they look so real, like rolling down a set of stairs.
how would they even judge an oscar worthy stunt? would academy voters get raw footage of the stunt? how would they know what's good and not good?
@@aliali-ce3yf Yeah, that's a good point too. There would have to be stunt members of the Academy for that to work.
@@aliali-ce3yf Like everything else, they get submitted to the category and then reviewed. And like everything else, they just vote.
Ryan Gosling is effortlessly funny.
He is hilarious!
Him just randomly shouting while always get me to laugh
So charming!
It's great that Ryan Gosling hasn't had a miss with comedic roles. With the underrated The Nice Guys, Barbie, and now The Fall Guy, this man can literally do anything with such a perfect charisma and chemistry with the cast members 🙌
Haha but i still remember his role in Drive & Blade Runner 2049
@@Music_Movie_Fan_So? Did anyone ask about his role for those movies?
@@BryanCostnerThey're just contrasting his comedic roles with the seriousness he portrayed in those two films.
@@tarttooth6022Okay so? I didn't ask anything about his serious roles, he's great in those but i'm more focusing on the comedic side of him 🤷
don't forget about Crazy Stupid Love
all ryan gosling jacket in this movie deserve an award
that miami vice jacket and the theme played out in the boat scene was amazing
@@mursaleensaleem1806 That scene is beautiful, such a great homage (and the og theme! Something that not even Mann used in the Miami Vice movie).
@@jackelrikuroso3945 true
You know it's going to be a kick ass awesome action movie when it's directed by a former stuntman 🙌
That's why I love John Wick. Director Chad Stahelski was a stuntman so knew exactly what he wanted for the stunts and fight sequences. I'm not sure how many more stuntman/directors are out there besides Chan.
David Leitch actually co-directed John Wick but wasn't credited for some reason! John Wick and The Fall Guy are both kick-ass movies! ❤
Oh yeah, for sure. He did an amazing job
I felt like this movie was just a parody of the movie industry, having countless references to other movies and laughing on cliches by having a little twist on them each time, the action is perfect,i give this movie a 9/10
The movie trailer at the end gave me serious tropic thunder vibes
It's going to be mad awkward for Goslings stuntman in this movie to get no credit for the movie about how stunt men get no credit
They do
@@tonihagan6330 not enough arguably
They’ve been doing the promo rounds with the cast doing interviews and other promo videos.
@@PlaceForFaith that's cool then good for them my bad
@@prostagma6055the credits are side by side with videos showing the stuntmen doing stunts so they do make it quite clear at the end the part that they played in the movie and which ones are done by the stuntmen
Mike Flanagan executive producer on shelby oaks is amazing, couldn't be happier for you, been watching for years now
It's nice to see Teresa Palmer getting more work. She's heavily underrated, her first scene with Gosling in this movie was absolutely incredible and hilarious
Not Teresa Palmer!!! It's Emily Blunt
@@SuperLiberated1
T. Palmer is in the film and there is a superb scene with them together ❤
@@SuperLiberated1 Teresa Palmer dude, i'm talking about her 🤷
It's kinda weird to not really see her the movie much afterwards.
Congrats on getting Mike Flanagan as a producer on Shelby Oaks!!
off topic: I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOUR COLLABORATION WITH FLANAGAAAAAAAN, He is super fresh, I LOVE his movies and if he saw something in you and your project I cant' wait to see
He's not just Ken! He's now Falling Ken!
Literally Falling Ken
No he’s officer K/ Joe
He's stunt ken
@@Music_Movie_Fan_ Working for Director Barbie. If Emily Blunt wants that role.
His job is stunts.
came to see this movie 2 days ago because Ryan Gosling does not miss in comedy, and i'm glad i did
How can they sell merch without the fallguy logo , the old truck was a character in the show .
Congrats on getting Mike Flanagan on the Shelby Oaks team as an exec producer Chris! This will be massive; super proud of u
That's so f**king awesome!!!
Yeah, i woke up this morning and found that news, it must be a strong one if Flanagan agreed to be an executive producer for
So hes a hollywood sellout xDDD
This couldn’t be more positively reaffirming news for my favorite review / upcoming director/ writers!
As long as the movie is Kenough, I'm definitely gonna have the time of my life at the theater
Stunt work DEFINITELY needs some more recognition!
~_~
Looks like this year will be the best year in movies that Hollywood should made even the problems from most studios last year. THAT is the prime example why movies should’ve been made period. Great review, Chris.
Also gotta give props for setting the movie in my city! I know y'all from the US are probably used to seeing every movie ever be set in your city, but as an Aussie, I think I speak for the rest of the world in saying that it's quite a special thing for us to see a Hollywood movie filmed on our home turf.
This review was too easy to predict:
“Not everyone appreciates movies as much as I do, so I liked it and you probably won’t”
A love letter to stunt men and women in film. I saw this with friends at an early screening last week and it was so good to see the action set pieces set in Sydney Aus
As someone who highly enjoyed Bullet Trains and loves Gosling as an actor, I’m definitely looking forward to seeing this movie today. And it being a big love-letter to stuntwork from a director who used to actually be a stunt coordinator is the icing on the cake for me.👌🏽
Did you enjoy it :] ?
@@archie7969no they didn't
Went into it 50/50 given my memories of the tv series - way better than anything I could have expected - shades of Indiana Jones/Last Action Hero and loved the piss take of Dune
As a wee little nipper growing up in the late 70's - 80's in the great kindom of the the uniteds of the UK. The "Fall Guy" will, WILL, always be that great ensemble of great American tv like ..... The Fall Guy, CHiPs, Wonder Women, Street Hawk, Airwolf, Simon & Simon, Oh my god, we were so lucky ITV bought the rights to these shows and more back then. I always remember Lee Majors singing in the titles of The Fall Guy, "I'm the unknown stuntman that made Eastwood look so fine." Oh, "The Littlest Hobo" Ahhhh, the memories. Was also brought to the uk via ITV in the 80's.
Simon & Simon - now that is a seemingly forgotten show . one of the few 80s shows can't find it anywhere on streaming or reruns these days.
🎶Maybe tomorrow I’ll wanna settle down🎶
Don't forget about the Incredible Hulk, starring David Banner.
@@jjstarrprod You mean starring Bill Bixby as David Banner. That show had a lot of heart despite having that title because of the human interest stories and not focusing on the superhero aspect of the character.
I loved Bill Bixby as an actor so I watched his tv shows. I also loved the theme song of The Incredible Hulk.
@@whatevergoesforme5129 Iconic !
I still remember it to this day. I feel as much as I loved Hulk at some point in the MCU (between Avengers and Ragnarok), they never managed to catch even a glimpse of what made the heart of the original Hulk TV show.
I stayed for the credits and was enjoying the behind the scene shots when the cleaning person in the theater turned on all the lights and started cleaning. Another person told her the movie wasn't done yet to turn off the lights and the cleaning person mumbled something and kept cleaning. There was also a post credit scene.
Love It... thanks!
Thank you Chris for a superlative review, presentation and production. You're always spot-on. I wasn't going to see Fall Guy until I saw your review.
Ryan Gosling is such a great lead guy, I can't wait to see this movie! Great review, thx!
I loved the tv show, but I am also seeing the movie because of Gosling/Blunt. Great combination. I also love watching stunts.
CONGRATS CHRIS ON MIKE FLANAGAN JOINING AS AN EP ON SHELBY OAKS!!!
I was a huge fan of the TV show and watched every episode. It hit me at just the right age - about 10-years old - when there seemed to be fantastic stunts in every film. Raiders of the Lost Ark had just come out and that blew me away. I think Harrison Ford even narrated a television special that same year on the stunt industry. So that's a HUGE motivator for me to see this film and I'm very happy that it has turned out good (at least from most of the critics that I'm hearing from).
When I was a kid I love the intro song to The Fall Guy. I also remember that movie starring Burt Reynolds when he played a stuntman.
"Hooper" great movie!!!! I thought of it too... one of my favorites when I was a kid!
@@cnksilva "Hooper" is one of Burt's best.
Burt Reynolds' HOOPER was one of my favs as a kid, so it will be interesting to see how this one compares.
I loved "Hooper" as well. The outfit Gosling is wearing in the opening scene (black and yellow leather) reminded me of Burts outfit in the opening scene of "Hooper". A nod from one stunt movie to another? Speaking of "nods"... in one of the fight/shootout scenes, the sound effect of "The Six Million Dollar Man"s bionic power was added, in what I can only imagine of being a nod to Lee Majors. I loved the "Fall Guy" TV series when I was a teenager. I've always been interested in the behind the scenes of movies and stunts. The end of movie credits with the extra views of the stunts was really cool. But unfortunately the story of the movie didn't interest me at all.
Hooper was and is the movie to watch.
This remake, if you can even call it that, will suck balls.
Hooper had real stunt men doing crazy stunts.
This new movie is mostly CGI.
I’d love to see your review on Boy Kills World. It has a pretty clever and subversive twist towards the end. The fight sequences are excellent as well
With the rising of AI in the entertainment industry, film making movies like these will keep reminding us human really do go out of our way to make real movie magic, practical stunts and people working behind the scene all included must be appreciated.
Went to the the movie...enjoyed. The one really sham part was Regal ran 30 minutes of trailers/commercials before it started. Ask the manager and his feeling was we're probably going to see more of that.
CONGRATS ON THE MIKE FLANAGAN THING
I'm not doubting it that people clapped but every movie I've seen in theaters audience never clap, cheer or hear cry. Guess I live in a conservative town 😂. Excited to see this movie.
lol, thank you. i was starting to wonder if it was just me too. I've never heard a theater audience clap before
and it makes sense, its not like the actors/movie crew is there to hear the applause
From my experience, it happens most often when Andrew Garfield makes a surprise appearance in a Spider-Man movie, because it's now happened twice for me.
A stunt category is the easiest miss by the Oscars. Shame.
This movie is suppose to be a love letter to stuntmen but it's really an afterthought when the credits roll. Even as a romantic comedy they could have had a scene showing how it is to sacrifice so much for a movie and not get any of the credit.
This movie was surprisingly very good! The stunt work and the practical effects were top notch. Stunt actors absolutely deserve their own Oscar category!
Not really surprising this guy did John wick, atomic blonde, deadpool 2, bullet train
2024 is the next 2014 i hope lol....
let's see we already have Love Lies Bleeding, Dune: Part Two, Monkey Man, The Fall Guy, The First Omen, Abigail, Godzila X Kong: The New Empire (yeah it's dumb fun), Civil War, Late Night With The Devil, The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Challengers, Arcadian, Boys Kill World, Musica, Exhuma, Unsung Hero, Ordinary Angels...
Fallout (TV Series), Shogun (TV Series)
Kung-Fu Panda 4 & Ghosbusters: Frozen Empire also is not bad for me...
Wow so far 2024 is amazing
This was such a delight! I laughed SO much and adored the dynamic between Jody and Colt. It struck a great balance between all of the action-thriller-mystery genre trappings AND the romantic comedy ones without being cliched or predictable and I love how the writing and dialogue was so intentional. So much went full circle. This is my favorite movie of the year so far 🤗 and yes, my whole theatre cheered and clapped at the end too!
This movie was awesome from start to finish, great to see Blunt and Gosling have some great chemistry in this and it's great that Gosling did his own stunts. It was also nice to see this all being shot in Sydney too all the way here in Australia!
We have been so stoked to see this film since the first trailer hit the theaters! Going Friday and we cannot wait! Thanks for another spoiler free review!
Ryan and Emily are hilarious. Have to see this. Also congratulations Chris!
The trailers looked very charming, but your review is put over the edge. I’d definitely want to see this with someone.
The Academy should honour Stuntmen was an category which will bring in audiences and rejuvenate the Oscars 100%
Great review. You get to so many things that I didn't have time to cover. Awesome! 🙂
I watched reruns of the show with my mom as a kid and absolutely LOVED it. I will watch this in her memory, but it is great to know it is also a good movie, so thank you as always!
I was about to finally watch Late Night with the Devil but NO Chris just HAD to upload at that EXACT moment lmao. Love your vids, Chris!
Oh damn, go watch Late Night with the Devil right now!
@@thechevyferrari9559 It's been on my watchlist forever, just finished the vid, starting the film now!
Late night was till now my best of 24 but it’s a close call for myself over Fall Guy
Definitely watch Late Night With The Devil! Absolute blast!!
Sounds like a fun film ! Thanks as always, Chris!
what are you thanking him for? He's leading to watch a pretty shitty movie. When was the last time he actually 'critiqued' a film?
The Rundown is actually the only Dwayne Johnson film I enjoy. I think it's the one film he's done when he was actually the least "The Rock" in it, compared to his other films. Plus the fact that he was in a buddy comedy action film, where he is the guy constantly getting worked over and made fun of during the wacky events, helped to make it more enjoyable. Plus I think he and Sean William Scott just had REALLY good chemistry on set. The comedic timing between them, the banter, the overall tone and mood of the two of them, it felt really effortless. I could do without pretty much every other Rock film he's done, but The Rundown? Yeah that one is gold.
My favorite Rock movie is "Faster". Has a great seventies feel to it, and co-stars the gorgeous Carla Gugino and good ol' Billy Bob Thornton
What about Doom or Walking Tall or Gridiron Gang?
@@Wildboyz6913 😅
@@kitano0 What’s so funny?
@@Wildboyz6913 I'm sorry. To each their own, but I didn't care for any of those.
This movie was great. Great stunts. Great acting. Great cinematography. Great humor. Great soundtrack. I expect it to bomb super hard at the box office.
Love your creativity, it's inspiring!
Please watch and review Hundreds of Beavers. It's a super small movie that really needs and deserves the support. You always seem to advocate for that kind of stuff and it's such a unique and hilarious comedy.
I've seen it three times, and it easily became my favorite movie of this year.🖤❤
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW EXECUTIVE PRODUCER!!!! HOLY SHIT!!!!!
I was such a big fan of the TV show along with The Six Million Dollar Man! And my favorite Heather was in it!
Gosling certainly deserves all the great comments but let's not forget Emily Blunt is also terrific, especially when having a good scene partner. I'm really looking forward to seeing them together. I think they'll bring the best out of each other!
The fact that stunt workers don’t have even a technical category at the Oscar’s is disappointing.
Barbiehemer spin off. Beginning of the Barbiehemer universe
*Barbenheimer
Speaking of good stuntwork, would be awesome if you'd review Boy Kills World, which has fantastic action choreography and could really use the extra support.
Looking forward to Shelby Oaks - that Flanagan announcement was quite exciting
Stunt people definitely totally need an Oscar
“Just Ken now , to Falling Ken guy”
Your shirt is dope!!! I need that link!
Fall Guy was my most favorite tv series, when I went to Kindergarten. If I got that correctly, it was not as popular in the US as it was here in Germany.
I am not sure, if I want to watch this movie or not, since the tv series holds such a special place in my heart.
6:26 Guy Ritchie's 'The Man from 'U.N.C.L.E.' should have gotten a sequel.
I used to watch the fall guy with my gran. Glad someone gave it some love. Was great and very nostalgic. Glad I have an excuse to share stories
Some of my favorite Ryan Gosling movies that he's in are:
Blade Runner 2049, The place beyond the pines, Drive, The notebook, Gangster Squad & Crazy Stupid love.
There are still others I need to see. Hopefully I can add this one to the list.
Such a fun, fun, fun movie. It may seem dumb sometime, but it's trully a love letter to cinema.
I loved that TV show as an old GenXer. I liked Lee Majors as a TV actor. After The Six Million Dollar Man, I watched him in The Fall Guy.
Yeah... both great shows.
This movie is not good.
Don't believe the hype.
@@penknight8532 Really? Did you see it? I was thinking whether I would go and see it or not.
@@whatevergoesforme5129 You do what you want to do but you're better off waiting a month and you can rent it for like 2 bucks.
There was a movie called The Stuntman with Peter o’Toole as the lead. It proceeded the tv show with Lee Majors.
Good Movie... it's free on youtube.
I seen Bullet Train and I really did enjoy that movie too and Brad Pitt did a great job in that role too
It's a movie about people making a movie. We have a bunch of those movies by now. I'd like to see a movie about people making a movie about people making a movie.
Where did you get that shirt I need it
I got to attend an early screening with a great crowd and I had a blast. Definitely some flaws in the writing but the vibes were immaculate. And hey, I’d pay good money to be able to see Metalstorm!
I've been excited for this movie since the first time I saw the trailer. I tried to get into an early screening but couldn't. I'm hoping to see it this Friday. I'm glad to hear is as good as it looks
"For some reason" - the reason stunts aren't awarded categories at the oscars is that they are dangerous, and if they start handing out awards for best stunts then productions will attempt bigger and bigger stunts in order to win those awards, and people will die as a result. Not quite the same as recognizing a casting director, you can't die doing it.
that's good and all but i was really hoping for a Boy Kills World review. I've been checking the channel twice every day hoping that the review is in.
Just saw The Fall Guy and I really enjoyed it in spite of a few flaws. If we are to believe Rotten Tomatoes this is the sort of film that most people really enjoy, a small number find it "meh", and the rest absolutely hate it.
I loved the cast in this film (how could you not) and the overall premise and idea. I love David Leitch. But somehow I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed by this film
Right, saw it this weekend and it felt like a summer movie, a bit silly, over the top but fun and yeah the love letter to stunt people. Also great chemistry between Gosling and Blunt. Worth the watch
I worked in independent film. This movie tugged at my heartstrings. Stunt dog was my favorite surprise.
I loved The Fall Guy with Lee Majors! So, I was really hoping this would be good. I was disappointed that The A-Team never got a sequel. I really enjoyed that movie too even though I had some nitpicks. Another great series from Glen A Larson who did a lot of shows in the 80s, most known for Knight Rider.
I'm seeing The Fall Guy tomorrow.
Oh so it is based on the TV show. Weirdly I still remember the theme song to that. I was still kid enough that I would make the 6 million dollar man sound whenever he ran anywhere.
Hollywood needs an award for people competing to get hurt and almost die.
Seeing it tonight at early access so freaking excited!!!!
I have only been this excited once before about a movie (fight club). I saw this opening night and it was definitely worth the time and money. Very fun movie with everything I like. I am sad that Ryan didn't sing the "unknown stuntman" song... that is my only complaint (and it is a big complaint).
I cannot believe you reviewed this movie before Late Night With The Devil
Wish they would have "Monster trucked" the iconic brown GMC. Monster trucks were at a peak in the 80's
Can't wait to see this tomorrow night. Ryan Gosling as a stuntman is something I never thought I needed in a film.
The Fall Guy was way more FUN than expected! I had a blast!
This movie was amazing! I loved it from beginning to end and had no idea it was based on an existing property. So glad this has been made
Can you do a review of “Catch me if you can” with Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio? For your featured presentation segment.
As someone who loves film and like learning the ins and outs of it but also in appreciates a good funny story I really enjoyed this movie and I thought it was way better than I thought it was going to be
I was a big fan of the TV show The Fall guy this movie of course has nothing to do with the show except for the name, the truck and the theme song at the end. The Fall Guy movie is more of a romantic comedy. Even with the action scenes it's not worth seeing it at the cinema this is a Netflix and Chill type of movie. Alcohol required.
I loved this movie so much! Super fun, has everything... comedy, action, mystery, romance.... beautifully set in Sydney (my hometown), great chemistry with the leads and amazing stunts! ❤
I find that only if a movie has a grand scale do I feel compelled to experience it in a theater, whereas I used to just go to every movie that interested me. This is due to a number of factors, but is something that seems to be a prevailing trend. Will this encourage the movie industry to make more epic movies in a bid to restore the theater model? I'm waiting to see the first charging station drive-in be built.
