I LOVE the foreshadowing where he says he got so good at the stunt he could do it with his hands tied behind his back and then uses THAT stunt to escape.
Yup as someone who doesn’t usually watch movies, and is picky of the ones I do watch. I gotta say this movie actually moved me emotionally, so I can say with confidence it is a good movie.
I enjoyed Colt saying, "I got so good at it, I could do the Miami Vice boat stunt with my hands tied behind my back" (paraphrased). Then, he's literally in that situation and does it. I also thought the split screen shot talking about split screen shots was hilarious - I had to do all I could to keep from LOL in the theater.
This movie is insanely fun. There's so many references, easter eggs, callbacks, you name it, it's got it. And Jason Momoa at the end is just chef's kiss
I think the reason we give Paul's CGI-ification a pass over many others is because it wasn't done as a cash grab or to drag the character back in, it was used to send him off into the sunset
Having just rewatched Interstellar recently, I can confirm Ryder at 20:05 is definitely channeling Texan Matthew McConaughey, basically giving a monologue that’s a cross between William Wallace in Braveheart & President (Pullman ) from Independence Day
I loved how as Phil Collins was singing "I wish I could make you turn around" as the towed garbage bin was spinning around. Also, Wilhelm Scream during the apartment fight.
Paul Walker's tribute and choice to keep going and use CGI for his face was because of Pauls brothers. They wanted his legacy to continue and they helped out with doing so. It's still a beautiful thing. They did initially want to axe the movie after Paul died.
@@Mrozu666 so nihilism I would loosely describe as a destructive world view hence movie logic is that nihilism works… Don’t need morality or societal norms to function according to movies ie it’s ‘viable’ (but isn’t really)
This movie was everything i went in hoping it would be it pretty much the most fun action film ive seen in a long time ryan gosling is so funny i didnt expect a twist so it definitely shocked me also loved the how the miami voice boat jump came back around.
An action set piece set to "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now) is not something I ever considered but it's easily one of the best parts of the film.
and the movie from which the song was from (Against All Odds) was about a football star being framed for a murder he didn't commit (similar to this one)
"I'm on vacation!!!" A quick nod to Billy Crystal and City Slickers. I loved all of the old references. Fun flick. We just bought it but I wish we would have seen it in the theater. We may do that now that we've seen your Easter Egg video. Thanks!
Totally enjoyed this and it made a real change to see physical effects rather than CGI, which was brought up as a joke several times. BTY I remember seeing Metalstorm in the cinema in 1983 I remember 2 scenes, one was a stick poking out the screen and the other was the spikey ball jumping into it, ah the good old days of cheesy 3D effects
David Leitch doing Bullet Train with Brad Pitt after being his stunt double is awesome! I guess he also found Aaron Taylor Johnson to be a great talent on that movie. Also, in Cole's intro where many stunt work was shown, they showed the bus fight scene in Nobody starring Saul Goodman
I thought the feeling the sand was a reference to Gladiator with former RG co-star Russel Crowe, which he does before he goes into battle, somewhat like Colt getting back into stunt work. Also the film has some nice bookends. The movie opens with "I was made for loving you" and then the spicy margarita's convo and then it ends with the spicy maragarita's convo again followed by "i was made for loving you" closing out the movie, followed by the epilogue. My favorite movie of the year. Feel sorry for the lames who couldn't have a good time w this one.
Great run down for all movie lovers! The reflection of Emily Blunt in Gosling’s sunglasses is a Barbie reference. Ken wore sunglasses to reflect Barbie’s beauty (even though there are no reflections in Barbieland).
Ryan Gosling should do more comedy. This movie was dope and nostalgic in the very best ways. The 'GTA 'esque' scene in the club was a favorite. Jim Rockford was Ryan Gosling in "The Notebook" this whole TIME?!!! 😱 23:08
Um, Van Damme doesn't speak "Belgian" as there is no such language. People in Belgium typically speak one or more of French, Dutch, and German, which are the 3 official languages.
The fight between Blunt and Gosling in the trailer when he's dressed as the alien is lifted from the Desh fight in Bourne Ultimatum. Book to the throat!
I thought the scene of Colt being thrown against a rock repeatedly was a bit harsh considering the character had somewhat recently broken his back. It just seemed like something that would be avoided in real life.
Movie was way better than I expected, it was stupid but in fun way. Like that "im in metal storm too!" "You liar there is no metal storm 2 yet!" lol. Also I'm biased because I'm in Sydney so it was a bit nuts seeing parts of cbd, if there was a single car crash in the city it would be breaking news over here lol, just wish they had some scenes in the train for more Sydney-ness. Over all 8/10! 👍
LOVED this movie and I'm not an action fan at all, but THIS, this was sooooo much fun!!! I think putting Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling in it went a looooong way to making it so!!!
We saw the movie for the second time today, we love it from beginning to end, geez I hope word of mouth gets more people to go see it it is so much FUN!
David Collins - one of the "Umbilical brothers" makes a cameo with watching into the camera at the end of the movie. I thought it was fun, as he will be playing in the Furiosa movie too.
I saw the Extended Cut and it was a great and fun action comedy flick. Ryan and Emily were great! And yes, in the film industry the true heroes are all the stunt men and women who put everything on the line in front of the cameras and sometimes get injured or pay the ultimate price. David made another great flick!
The problems with the third act is a reference to Total Recall which went through 30 rewrites because of problems with the third act. The running his fingers through the sand is also a reference to Gladiator. Both were Universal movies.
Confrontation with Iggy in the apartment was very Kill Bill like. The song playing after Colt picks up one of the two identical trucks mentions Lost in Translation.
I loved this movie! I really hope it gets to love eventually from everyone. I can’t believe people didn’t go to see this in the theaters. It was fantastic!
Oh my gosh I love this movie so much it’s so good!!! I’m completely obsessed with it and hope it gets a sequel! Though I would be okay with it not getting a sequel. I can’t wait to buy this movie!!!

Some things I noticed from the opening montage were stunts from Jurassic World: Dominion and Nobody (Owen crashing his bike into the hull of a plane and Hutch being tossed out the bus)
A great summer blockbuster movie with what must have been some of the biggest stunts every done in one film. In a lot of ways it reminded me of Last Action Hero ... the whole film being a nod and a wink to the audience. Great fun!

I was so sceptical but i saw it yesterday and it is so fun!!!! Ryan and Emily have great chemistry, pacing is great, stunts are great! Yes there r couple of minor plot holes (like how he had such a drastic fall but in 18 months he is falling and fighting?). But still it was worth movie ticket!
I didn't realise this film has a cinematic release and wasn't one of those generic Netflix specialities. Now that I've seen an explainer, it sounds like this is a decent film. I think Hollywood needs to rethink how it markets these films.
Having watched the series, back in the last century, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with this. Very silly, but I enjoyed it. Can we please actually get Metalstorm? I would definitely watch it
As someone who does not watch a lot of movies. This one stood out to me so I chose to watch it, and do not regret it. In my opinion it’s one of the best movies I watched so far, that’s probably because I don’t watch a lot of movies but I still think it’s awesome. I did move and touch emotionally, I may be a little embarrassed to admit but I have become attached to this move.
When the clip of the metal storm logo from the movie popped on the screen I think on the bottom in teeny tiny white letters it said mamoa like Jason mamoa
I really liked the movie. I went with a friend and he we both gave it an 8/10. Ryan Gosling is so charismatic. The club scene was epic and him hallucinating the unicorn was hilarious.
Ryan gosling screaming at Aaron taylor Johnson about carbs ,and glucose legitimately was one of the funniest parts of this whole movie haha.
So true
that's probably a reference to what actually happened on the set of the Bullet Train when ATJ was on a ketogenic diet and fainted after bleeding hhh
It's so saddened that this movie did not get the love it deserves at box-office
I LOVE the foreshadowing where he says he got so good at the stunt he could do it with his hands tied behind his back and then uses THAT stunt to escape.
Not foreshadowing, he just used a skill he got from that

i love the line “doone’s goons dirted my shirley” so much
The cameo in the opening oner is Stunt Designer Chris O’Hara, not David Leitch

I laughed so hard at “nihilism is a viable world view” line in the movie.

At 2:27 you are showing Heather Locklear as the 80´s Jody, but Jody was played by Heather Thomas in the original TV-series
Just saw the movie and all the callbacks made me remember 70 and 80s TV and movies. Good fun and good chemistry among the leads
I feel like all the “trying to get coffee” bits were maybe a reference to Hudson Hawk
