  • Peperomia hope is a cute hybrid plant that was bred to be an easy growing indoor plant. Of course, there are still some things to know to make this plant thrive!
    Light - bright indirect light is recommended, but this plant can handle some direct sun if it's acclimated to it. Be careful though, because harsh sun can burn the leaves.
    Water - water only after the soil has completely dried out or when the leaves are so soft that you can pinch/fold an older leaf into a taco shape.
    Soil - light airy aroid mix. A mix of bark chips, perlite and soil would work well.
    Fertilizer - fertilize once a month during the growing season.
    Best of luck with your peperomia hope!

    I've noticed that my peperomia hope gets a bit leggy, even in pretty bright light in the morning AND afternoon. So I've found that cutting the leggy parts back ( and propagating them) helps make it a fuller, bushier plant as it shoots out new stems from the spot of the cut. SUCH a cute plant though😍

      You're welcome! I definitely think what you said about the water is true too. Mine didn't seem to ne happy when I was watering more often, so I've now cut back and have had no issues. Thanks for the video!😊

      @@laurenervin1404 right!? I thought it seemed odd online when most recommended "evenly moist". But it's great when people come together and talk about their experiences like this so we can all get a better understanding.

    Thank you for this, Sam, you solved many of my questions and worries! I’m so happy you mentioned how, online, many sites recommend to keep the soil moist but how that’s not actually good. I’m glad that my current care aligns with yours too: makes me feel more confident knowing that my lil plant is happy!
    What I love the most about it is how soft the leaves are, so soft!
    I have a question: when you eventually repot yours, will you keep the current media it’s growing in?

      Thanks girl! That really means a lot!! I'm so glad it was helpful! I think that one person writes a bad article and then a bunch of other site just seem to copy it giving us a surplus of bad info!
      I know right!?! The leave share so nice and soft.
      To answer your questions, I will likely keep the substrate that is already around the roots and just put that plug in a more light and airy mixture.

    I just got mine today ! Im excited to learn how to care for P hope ! 💚. I have a question, I got mine completely dry from bottom to top , how much water does it really need ? I’m thinking about filling a bowl of water and place the P hope inside the bowl and let it self water. Will it cause to overwater itself ?

    • @mindtheleaves9914
      @mindtheleaves9914  3 года назад

      That is the perfect thing to do. Allowing it to soak up as much water as it needs won't cause overwatering. Overwatering is more about frequency than the actual amount of water you give it.

    thank you for the info. From my experience I can tell my peperomia likes to dry out completely before watering again.
    I have a question though. Some leaves drop off every now and then, I wonder if you know why, is it normal?

    • @mindtheleaves9914
      @mindtheleaves9914  3 года назад +1

      You are very welcome!! Leaf drop does mean that something's wrong. Unless it's just a leaf here or there, then it's likely not an issue. Overwatering is obviously the most common cause of leaf drop, but other things could also cause it. Like, not enough light, poor drainage, pests and diseases and if you allow your plant to stay too dry for too long, it can drop leaves.

    • @elpidakessapidou7361

      @@mindtheleaves9914Fortunately it's just a leaf here or there, as you said. Certainly it's not overwatering, or too dry.

    i’ve recently killed my pep☹️ we recently had a heatwave which it seemed to enjoy, but i must have overwatered it because i’ve been coming home from work to find a new stem dropped off each day. i’m not sure what i’m going to do to revive it; my heart is broken❤️‍🩹

    • @mindtheleaves9914

      If the soil is still wet, immediately take the root ball out of the pot and wrap it in paper towel to absorb as much of the water as you possibly can. When the towel is wet, replace it. Keep pulling the water out until the root ball is dry. It might be too late, but it may also be savable. Give it a try. That really sucks Emma. 💚

    Hey! So I bought mine near the end of summer off an online nursery, and when it came the newer leaves were a little bit curled outwards. I thought they’d flatten out over time, but they’ve just gotten worse and worse (to the point where one or two of them had kind of rolled up) and all the new growth is curled. Even some of the new stems that have come up have the same problem. There aren’t any pests or anything like that. I’ve looked all over the Internet (if you search it up, you’ll find that it’s a common but unsolved problem) I can’t find a solution anywhere 😭 do you have any tips?

    • @mindtheleaves9914
      @mindtheleaves9914  3 года назад +2

      Hey Aliyaa! So it seems there are a few things that could be causing the curling. It could be that it has been consistently overwatered and it is getting a calcium deficiency. It could also happen because of too much fertilizer. I did see someone say that the plant just needs time to acclimate to its new environment. I know you got yours at the end of summer, so you would think that it was acclimated by now, but if it hasn't put on a lot of growth it may not be. I also saw one person say that she stopped watering it while the leaves were growing in and that solved the problem for her. Not sure about that idea, but I figured I should give you all the info. Honestly, as far as I can tell, this curling issue actually has a few different causes, which is probably why it's such a difficult issue to quickly solve. So I would suggest to watch your watering, water with tap water (if you aren't already doing so, because it tend to have some calcium), hold back on any fertilizer and give it some time.

      I have a goldfish plant with the same situation as your peperomia. It could be that the humidity is too low. My goldfish plant is now in higher humidity and all the new growth has normal (not curled under leaves). I heard on a YT channel (Swedish Plant Guys) that leaves curl under due to lack of humidity. The leaves curl to “create” some humidity for itself by trapping moisture in the underside of the leaf. I hope 😊 your plant is doing well. If its still curling try to raise the humidity.
