  • Showing a fix for low hot water pressure in RV and camper water heaters caused by a restricted mixing valve.
This video specifically looks at the cleaning and reinstallation of the mixing valve on a 6 gallon Dometic XT-series water heater in a 2018 Airstream International Serenity 25FBT.
This repair can likely be applied to many other water heaters as well (such as Atwood).
    * Be sure to drain water heater, per the manufacturer service manual, prior to performing this repair. *

My screen in the mixer was completely plugged. Now have best hot water flow in 2 years. Was a real pain to access the back side of heater in my unit.

Great video, but never use vasoline, which is petroleum based, on rubber o-rings. It will deteriorate the rubber. Use silicon grease.

Thanks for the info, I just installed a new valve and the debrie it captured cause me to doubt the install. Nice work.

ALSO - check the rubber washers on the bypass valves! I almost replaced my heater cuz of 2 small rubber washers that slipped out of place and blocked the flow at the surface of the ball valve. Diagnosis that gave up the secret - low flow on hot water even in full bypass configuration.....so it was NOT the mixing valve or clogged heater.....
