- Here's the full show from the last Championship telecast that was broadcasted at Sammy White's Brighton Bowl, which featured the top five bowlers from the 1984-1985 season of the Candlepin Bowling program itself.
The top five bowlers in this show were: Dan Murphy, Ron Johnston, Tom Olszta, Rich Pedroli, and John Miller.
Hope you enjoy and R.I.P. Don Gillis, and Rich Pedroli.
Wolfman thanks so much for going back and editing your old multi part videos into single long ones. It's much appreciated!
I can’t stop watching these. Please send help…..
I love the crowd in this. They're so excited.
Went candlestick bowling for the first time ever a few weeks ago while visiting family in Connecticut. We are very good 10-pin bowlers from Ohio, and had a blast playing this! Funny hearing the announcers call pin leaves different things than what we call them (ie...the diamond, the four hourseman, the spread eagle...etc.).
Also they call them strings, not games, boxes, not frames, gutters, not channels, and an X on the score sheet is a 10, not a strike. A lot of fun tho. A different animal from tenpin.
our bowling is different but for alot of us it's all we know but i like to watch tenpin on tv.
Dan Murphy is someone I've known for a long time a great candlepin bowler.
Wildman u are the man
Thank u.
Tom Olzsta is the best candlepin bowler I've ever seen.
This episode aired on 24 August 1985.
thanks for the post

Whatever happened to Gary Gillis?
Tommy Olstza …. the GOAT!!
Pedroli CHOKED. Unreal.
I'm from Lynn, so I much prefer the likes of Tony Leo and Joey Tavernese, but Tommy Olszta is one of, if not the greatest ever.
Tony Leo is my buddy's grandfather. He was a heck of a nice guy.
I was just informed that this Tony is his uncle but that his grandfather, also Tony, is in the HoF.

You keep doing this. Are you a spy???
@@gingerbaker1, na, comrade 🤭 I do this to remind myself I’ve watched this already. 🤷🏻
@@danaringquist9730 Do you not get a red underline under your watched video?
@@gingerbaker1 maybe. I have limited sight. That’s why I enjoy the videos as I can hear the crowd and the commentary. The only other things I can enjoy is vintage baseball and football games
@@danaringquist9730 Ah. So sorry to hear about your sight :( I get a real kick listening to the boisterous crowds also!
Don’t know if anyone knows but shortly after this there was a quadruple murder at this bowling alley
Brian Mckenzie
The murder took place a few years before this taping, either 1980 or ‘81.
1980.
i remember that.
Sammy White’s closed not long after this taping, along with dozens upon dozens of candlepin alleys that closed in the 80s. Last I remember, the building is still standing, as an Acura dealership.
Johnston looks like a dork. 😂
and who are you? give the guy a break.
